Personal life
[edit]Belyaev was born on September 18, 1979, in Magadan, Russia.[1]
In 1984, at the age of 5, Anton enrolled in Music School №1 in Magadan, Russia. Initially interested in studying drums, he opted for piano classes due to his young age. Despite frequently falling ill, Anton actively participated in music contests and received multiple awards.[2]
At the age of 13, Anton met Evgeny Chernonog and began studying at his jazz studio. By 14, he was performing jazz compositions with renowned jazz musicians in Magadan. At 16, Anton joined a youth jazz orchestra and recorded well-known jazz standards alongside Evgeny Chernonog on two pianos.[3]
When Anton turned 17, his mother insisted on moving to Khabarovsk, Russia, where he gained admission to the Khabarovsk State Institute of Art and Culture, specializing in pop-jazz.
In 2012, Anton Belyaev married Yulia Aleksandrovna Belyaeva. On May 22, 2017, Belyaev and Yulia welcomed their son, Semyon.[4]
Professional Career
[edit]In October 1998, Anton began working as a musician in various Khabarovsk clubs. By 2004, he had become the art director of the "Rus" club, where he assembled a group of musicians, including Dmitry Pavlov (guitar), Maksim Bondarenko (bass), Konstantin Drobyt’ko (trumpet), and Evgeny Kozhin (drums). Equipped with technical resources at the club, Anton embarked on creating music that would later form the foundation of Therr Maitz.[5]
In 2006, Belyaev shifted his base to Moscow, where he worked as an arranger for four years. His work of note includes collaboration with artists such as Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Igor Grigoriev, Maksim Pokrovsky, and Polina Gagarina.[6][7] In 2013, Anton participated in the second season of the Russian version of The Voice. All four mentors of the show selected him, and he chose Leonid Agutin as his coach. However, he was eliminated by Agutin after the second round, only to be saved by Russian ethnic singer Pelageya. Anton eventually exited the show during the semifinal stage.[8] During the autumn of 2014, Anton Belyaev supported the Russian Greenpeace project "Million for Separate Collection" and presented an exclusive song called "Stop.Quiet" as a gift to those advocating for waste recycling.[9][10]
In 2015, Anton served as a sound producer for the TV show "Main Stage" ("Glavnaya Scena") on Channel Rossiya-1, working on Igor Matvienko's team. He also served as a jury member during the qualifying castings.[11]
On 7 January 2015, the film "Voices of a Big Country" ("Golosa bolshoi strany") was released, with Anton Belyaev serving as the sound producer and composer for the movie.[12]
Towards the end of 2016, Anton created music for the immersive play "The Returning" ("Vernuvshiesya"), which premiered on 1 December 2016, in Moscow. The play was a collaboration between directors Viktor Karina and Mia Zanette from the New York theater company Journey Lab and Russian producers Vyacheslav Dusmuhametov and Miguel (choreographer and mentor of the TV show "Dances" ("Tancy") on TNT Channel).[13]
On 14 February 2018, the Russian film "The Ice" had its premiere. Anton Belyaev composed the film's music in collaboration with Dmitriy Selipanov. The film subsequently premiered in Germany, China, and South Korea, earning Anton and Dmitriy the "Golden Eagle Award."[14]
In 2019, Anton Belyaev took part in the advertising campaign for UNIQLO, which focused on promoting a new collection and the introduction of an online shop in Russia.[15]
Awards
[edit]Anton Belyaev received a nomination for the GQ award "Man of the Year 2015" in the category of "Musician of the Year."[16] In 2016, he was featured in GQ's list of "50 Most Stylish Men." Additionally, he was honored as "The Most Stylish Man" at the Fashion Summer Awards 2016 by the Fashion TV channel.[17] Anton and Yulia were recognized as one of GQ's "25 Most Stylish Couples of 2017." In 2018, Anton was once again included in GQ's list of the "100 Most Stylish Men."
In 2019, Anton Belyaev and composer Dmitriy Selipanov were awarded "The Golden Eagle" for their music in the film "The Ice."[14]
