Personal Life
[edit]Robertson credits the adversity he faced in his early life and his faith as motivations for his success. His mother, Kima (after whom he was named--"Amik" is "Kima" spelled in reverse), was 15 when he was born.[11] His father, Arthur Watts was incarcerated for the first five years of Robertson's life, re-entering his son's life when Robertson was 11. At age 15, Robertson became a father when his son Aiden Miguel was born on August 18, 2014. Robertson told the Monroe News-Star, "It meant everything. I remember like it was yesterday. At the time, I’m still young. When she had him and I held him in my arms, that’s when I realized life hit me, I got to pick it up and that’s when I took football serious."[12]
Robertson's saying "... They tried to bury me...But you can’t bury what comes from the dirt" has become a refrain, first when he was recruited to the Lions for the 2024 season. On January 5th, 2025, he repeated it after the Lions defeated the Vikings for the number one seed spot in the NFC when he received the game ball from head coach Dan Campbell as part of the post-game locker room speech.[13]
