Elections to Manchester City Council were held on Saturday, 1 November 1890. One third of the councillors seats were up for election, with each successful candidate to serve a three-year term of office. Owing to the extension of the city's boundaries,[1] seven new wards (Blackley & Moston, Crumpsall, Longsight, Miles Platting, Newton Heath, Openshaw, and St. Mark's) elected all of their councillors for the first time.

The council remained under no overall control.[2][3]
