Harish Rawat
Shri Harish Rawat a politician from Indian National Congress party is presently a Member of the Parliament of India representing Uttarakhand in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.
Early life and education
Harish Rawat was born in village Mohanari, near Chaunalia, Almora district, on April 27, 1947 to Rajendra Singh Rawat and Devaki Devi B.A., He did his B. A. and LL.B. from Lucknow University, Lucknow before joining politics [1],
Career
In 2000, he was unanimously elected the President of Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) [2], and remained so until he was replaced by Yashpal Arya
In Indian general election, 2009, he left his traditional stronghold of Almora after it became a reserved seat post-delimitation to contest from Haridwar (Lok Sabha constituency), which was leading till last update [3]
