Zahra (Arabic: زهراء) is a female given name and surname.

Among Arabs, the name became popularized as a result of being the name of Muhammad’s daughter, Fatimah al-Zahra.[2]

The name was also popularized by the Persian empire's influence in the Indian subcontinent, respectively.[citation needed] Zahra is also used as a surname, particularly in Malta.[citation needed]

Fatimah was the daughter of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, and is greatly revered by Muslims, often under the extended name Fatimah az-Zahra' , فاطمة الزهراء, or Fatimah Zahra' , فاطمة زهراء. This has then been used as a female given name.[citation needed]
