Jung Ye-rin (Korean: 정예린; born August 19, 1996), known mononymously as Yerin (예린), is a South Korean singer and actress. She is a former member of the South Korean girl group GFriend and is currently active as a soloist.
Early life
[edit]Yerin was born on August 19, 1996, in Incheon.[1] She attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul and graduated in 2015.[2]
Career
[edit]2015–2021: Activities with GFriend
[edit]In January 2015, Yerin officially debuted as a member of GFriend with their first extended play, Season of Glass.[3] She made her acting debut two months later playing a supporting role in the web drama Midnight's Girl.[4] On April 13, 2015, she appeared in Super Junior Heechul and TRAX Jungmo unit M&D's music video "I Wish".[5]
In January 2016, Yerin was chosen as a new MC for SBS MTV's music program The Show, alongside Zhou Mi.[6] On October 17, 2016, she featured the song "Future Boyfriend" with El Camino.[7]
In 2017, Yerin collaborated with Cao Lu and Kisum on the single "Spring Again".[8] Later that year, she participated in SBS's reality-documentary show Law of the Jungle, featuring in the episodes in Komodo.[9]
2021–present: Solo activities
[edit]In June 2021, Yerin signed with Sublime Artist Agency as a solo artist and actress.[10]
In February 2022, Yerin hosted an entertainment show of MBN "Catch Job" with broadcaster Cho Woo-Jong.[11] In May 2022, Yerin made her solo debut with the extended play Aria.[12][13] She is set to be an MC in MBC's Crazy Encounter Season 4.[14]
On March 31, 2023, Sublime Artist Agency announced that Yerin would be leaving the company after deciding not to renew her exclusive contract.[15] On April 17, Bill Entertainment announced that Yerin signed an exclusive contract with the agency.[16] Additionally on June 21, they announced that she would be coming back with her second solo album.[17] Her second EP Ready, Set, Love was released on August 23.[18]
On August 13, 2024, it was announced that Yerin would be releasing her third EP Rewrite on September 4.[19]
