Old discussions
[edit]I would like to help with this wikiproject. I am new to Wikipedia, but I have had experience with tea drinking and culture. -ICXCNIKA
- Great, though I have this page on my Watchlist I doubt the information here is consistent. I can't quite see any support for the more specialised pages, particularly as the more specialised they get the lower the amount of information in English. Other ideas are required I guess. :) --Iateasquirrel 20:57, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to join too. This is my first project, so please excuse my clumsiness. I'm a big fan of Chinese tea, particularly oolong and pu'er, and I read Chinese pretty well. The first thing I'd like to do is try to organize the oolong page(s) a bit. Let me know if you'd like to help, or if there's anything in particular that you think I should focus on. Look forward to working with you all! Alexwoods 03:13, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Project directory
[edit]Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 20:57, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Proposed merger
[edit]As this project is right now inactive, I was wondering if anyone would mind having it merged as a unit (work group, task force, or any other name chosen) of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Soft drinks. That way, the templates could stay active, and, with luck, the pages would receive some of the attention of the active project's members. I would welcome any responses, preferably at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Soft drinks#Proposed merger with tea. Badbilltucker 23:51, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Lapsang Souchong falsification
[edit]Are there any statistics on the production of real Lapsang Souchong tea versus the fake ones? --Iateasquirrel 16:31, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
Coffee
[edit]Hi, I thought I should give this taskforce a heads-up that Coffee is now a Featured Article Candidate here, since it's within your scope. Cheers, Jude. 10:29, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
New Portal, Drinks
[edit]I have created a new portal for the beverage community. While the Beer and Wine projects have their own specialized portals, the rest of the Drink WikiProjects do not have their own portal to call their own. It is here. Please be warned, it is still a work in progress and is not fully populated. I would gladly welcome the assistance of the members of this project in getting it up and running. Also, please check out the new WikiProject Spirits which is for distilled alcoholic beverages such as vodka and whiskey. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 07:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Herbal tea template
[edit]I was looking at {{teas}}, and lamenting (though concurring with) the loss of rooibos. I was then looking at the long list at herbal tea, and trying to determine whether there was a clear separation that could be made between the herbal teas that we have specific articles on, vs. items that are sometimes used as ingredients.
I'm still not sure, but I made a brief list, and wedged that list unceremoniously into a navbox, just to retain the list somewhere. Perhaps someone else can further adapt and find a use for this. Have at it :) -- Quiddity (talk) 23:53, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
The FA-Team has started a collaboration to bring coffee (currently a GA) to featured status. You may see more information here and join the discussion on Talk:Coffee. Mm40 (talk) 02:46, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Ospina Coffee
[edit]Hi Coffee Lovers. This is Grancafe. I posted an article on Ospina Coffee Company back in December, but I am having problems keeping it as it is (not to mention what it was). Ikip has refred me to you. I might need your help as I have an editor Flowanda asking questions that I have no idea how to answer. I am brand new to Wikipedia, have no idea how to navigate this laberynth and I am cyber-space phobic. Please see the article and the editors objections(Talk:Ospina Coffee Company), perhaps you can help me editing. Thank you very much for your help. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best, --Grancafé (talk) 03:53, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

tea terms
[edit]KeTePa
[edit]Just created a very basic stub for Ketepa tea, which apparently produces 60% of kenyan tea but had no article!! EdwardLane (talk) 11:39, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Capitalization and naming conventions
[edit]I recently initiated a move that resulted in the renaming of two articles, English Breakfast tea → English breakfast tea and Irish Breakfast tea → Irish breakfast tea. I've noticed that there are many other tea articles with capitalization that goes against MOS:CAPS, which indicates words in titles should only be capitalized when they're proper names or trademarks. An incomplete list includes:
There's also some inconsistency as to how these articles are named. Why, for example, does Shu Hsien include the word "tea" while Baihao Yinzhen does not? There's also inconsistent application of WP:ENGLISH. Lu'an Melon Seed tea is translated into English instead of being titled Liu’an Guapian; most other Chinese teas are not translated. Baihao Yinzhen could be titled Silver needles tea or White hair silver needles tea.
So here are three proposals:
- MOS:CAPS will be applied to all tea article titles, as was done with English/Irish breakfast tea
- Tea articles will be titled <Variety name> tea, as in "Shui Hsien tea"
- A review of English-language sources will be undertaken to determine which article titles should be in English and which should be in other languages.

coffee portal
[edit]Portal:Coffee is now useable, if anyone cares. maybe link it from the drinks portal. now wait, this task force is a task force of the drinks task force, which is a task force of the food and drink wikiproject? talk about russian nesting dolls.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:37, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
Since this practice has nothing to do with ghettos and everything to do with Starbucks hoping to save a buck or two, I'd like to rename this article to one of the alternate names for this same practice: "bootleg latte" "Poor Man's Latte" or "Working Class Latte". "Ghetto", these days, is used as a negative term for practices and habits of poor blacks and Latinos and I don't think race has anything to do with customers trying to save money at coffeehouses.
Personally, I hear "poor man's latte" but "bootleg latte" is probably the most neutral term and conveys the meaning of theft better than "ghetto". Liz Read! Talk! 10:47, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- Why is there even an article on this? Can't we just merge it into Latte? Ibadibam (talk) 21:35, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- I know it's been awhile since this proposal, but I've now made the move request for this change. Discussion is at Talk:Ghetto latte#Requested move. Ibadibam (talk) 18:43, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for making this move request, Ibadibam. Liz Read! Talk! 21:28, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Cultivars
[edit]Many cultivars for specific tea styles have their own stub pages. It is not possible to contribute a large amount of information regarding the Shui Jin Gui cultivar, as most information regarding it will be present in the Wuyi tea and Oolong pages. I will go about expanding Wuyi tea to contain information included in the cultivar-specific pages, and then merge them into Wuyi tea. A yancha redirect to Wuyi tea may be worthwhile.
