Userboxes
Hey pueblo. I recently created three userboxes to identify by their "alma mater". Feel free to use them!! - Mtmelendez (TALK|UB|HOME) 14:04, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

- I'll get right on it. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 01:23, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have been using this one for a while, but I suppose some of you can prepare another standardized one. Let me know. Thief12 01:51, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

- I can create it, what exactly are interested in? -凶 01:57, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
El Vocero
I think this article needs a little improvement, more history I guess.. Wachapon2 02:44, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Add the article about El Mundo newspaper to that list. I tried to organize it a little, but it could use a lot of help from someone with more knowledge about the subject. Thief12 00:48, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Doubt
Should those Puertoricans born in the USA still carry the acute accents in their Spanish names/surnames? Perhaps they don't want it... Do you know if there is any Wikipedia ruling on that? Thanks ¡Larga vida a Puerto Rico! --Damifb 18:37, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- English Wikipedia in general discourages the use of accents and special characters as part of the main article, becuase it encourages the use of English (WP:ENGLISH). Usually accented names are re-directed to a version without the accents, and the real, accented name explained in the text. However Spanish wikipedia is the other way around. These of course are style recommendations, and not rules, so you will find exceptions. Mind you, this doesnt just apply to Spanish, but to all languages in roman script which use accents, and languages in other scripts fare worse, as they actually have to be written in roman script. Personally, I like the way its arranged. Thanks! --Cerejota 22:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Mayor Infobox
I replaced the infobox on the Rafael "Churumba" Cordero Santiago article using the template found on most American mayors, but I wonder if it looks right. The article had another user-designed infobox, but I decided to replace it for standardization. What do you think? Check the article's talk page too. Thief12 00:56, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Looks fine. We should probably do that to all of the articles about mayors. --Boricuaeddie 00:59, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- I will work on one for Puerto Rico... We use a different municipality structure than that of most of the USA, this allow to join with the district information etc. I am very much interested in incresing the factual information on politics in Wikiproject Puerto Rico. Thanks!--Cerejota 21:50, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Let me know when you have one ready. I had already replaced the infoboxes for other mayors (Ramón Luis Rivera Jr., William Miranda Marín, Francisco Zayas Seijo). When the infobox is ready, I can help you put the right one in all the mayor articles around here. Thief12 01:48, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
University project
I commented this to Tony a few days back (please read here) and I think its good to know what the rest of the project thinks about it, if we are going to get this ready for this semester's start we must begin working with it, please read the original proposal and comment about it, any ideas for improvent are also welcome. -凶 01:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think that's a wonderful idea. We need more Puerto Rican editors. Are you sure the professors would be willing to do it? --Boricuaeddie 01:43, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- From my experience proffesors are fond of Wikipedia, I was assigned to look for information here a few times during the last semester, I just need someone to contact a proffesor in the island and convince him/her to create an account here so we can cordinate the entire project, wich is the only part I can't help with since my house is in Orlando. I will begin working with a sub page for it tommorow so we can start a rotation of the articles by priority, I'm really fired up about this project just considering the possibilities (30 or more GAs per semester) is inspiring enought for it to get a shot, thanks for the feedback. -凶 02:02, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think its a great idea. There ar ein fact more than a few professors who have bio articles here, so that might be a good "hook". Thanks!--Cerejota 21:52, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Are there some within WikiProject Puerto Rico? if there are I will be very grateful if you could point me towards their direction, cheers! -凶 01:53, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
This article is of extremely bad quality, and further more was renamed from Dominican immigration to Puerto Rico, which should be its topic even if it isn't. It is included in the immigration series, however it is the only one of these articles to not focus on the wider issues around transcultural immigration, but only on the very specific one of illegal immigration.
We need to give it a high priority, and fix it because as it stands it is a disgrace: dominican immigration to Puerto Rico for the most part has been legal, and has even been cross-cultural (ie there was a significant migration from puerto rico to the dominican republic in the 19th century, which kept traveling back and forth.
I certainly expect that the information be presented in a reliably sourced manner, with no original research, and with an un-biased presentation of our DOminican brothers and sisters. Thanks!--Cerejota 22:14, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Notice
To those interested, the article "Puerto Ricans in NASA" has been placed for deletion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Puerto Ricans in NASA Tony the Marine 00:14, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- I cannot believe the accusations launched against you! I think some people are letting their deletionist agenda with regards to nationalities get in the way of rational thought. They again, I am sometimes harsh ;). Thanks! --Cerejota 00:49, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
