Place
[edit]I just tried to book Circus Circus in Mt Eden village, but the don't take bookings on weekends during the day. Alternative might be evening instead or another place. Suggestions? I'm trying to think of somehere central, not too noisy and not too expensive - SimonLyall 02:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- There's a reasonably big pub (a new Cock & Bull) at the bottom of Khyber Pass just off from New Market. It's got quite a few alcove type areas and some would be out of the way if there was a sports event on. Malathos 03:50, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Galbraith's at the city end of Mt Eden Road is good - lots of space, fairly quiet (in a good way), central and has very good and reasonably priced food and beer.
- - and it has a room off to the side - you get traffic to the loos, but it's out of the main bar area. Malathos 05:38, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Galbraith's was one idea I had (and that area), the only real concern I had was that some people seemed to find the last one a little expensive. Which was why I was thinking of somewhere with cheaper options. It might not be a real problem though. - SimonLyall 05:52, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Nothing that is reasonably quiet and still has outside seating? Sorry if I can't chip in suggestions myself, but I'm not local enough yet... Otherwise Galbraiths sounds fine. Need more people yet though. MadMaxDog 06:59, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
People
[edit]There don't seem to be many people signed up to attend. I could easily go through and spam everyone in Category:Wikipedians in New Zealand, if that was desired. Onco_p53 19:43, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- I believe a slightly more selective version was already done for North Islanders who were recently active. If you find people who would apply, by all means do, please. MadMaxDog 05:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
As for attendance, well, if 2/3rds of those named attend, that should make it worthwile enough, 4-5 people... MadMaxDog 05:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Press
[edit]I have been approached by a media person saying they would like to send a crew along to film and interview people at the meetup. I would guess at minimum a condition would be that they don't film people unless they give permission and I'll also have to check with the venue that they are ok. Other than that any thoughts? I'll get back to the guy early this week but nothing arrange or conformed yet. - SimonLyall 04:45, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with media people being there. I'll consider whether I'm willing to be filmed or interviewed.-gadfium 05:41, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hoho - I am SO turning up in my work clothes. Or do you guys think a tie would be too much? ;-) Just kidding, though we probably should make sure we don't fulfill any scruffy stereotypes. As for being filmed or interviewed.... So-so. I'm normally the kind of person who would avoid a film crew at the corner interviewing people on the street. Would be more comfortable with, say, The Herald, instead. What channel is it anyway? MadMaxDog 09:00, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't want to say in public until it is confirmed. Feel free to email me and I can let you (or anyone else) know a bit more though. - SimonLyall 10:00, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
