Main AFL page

[edit]

I didn't think it read well. Lots of good info, but messy. I started reordering it... have a read at Talk:Australian Football League#General Flow of the article for my thoughts on how to make it even better. The-Pope 07:18, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

State Of Origin medallists

[edit]

I made a very modest Graham Moss Medal page (partly due to my ignorance of who Graham Moss is, and partly due to the paucity of winners, only four), and would love to see it expanded just a little, along with the Fos Williams Medal, EJ Whitten Medal and Alex Jesaulenko Medal medallists.

In a small update to the above unsigned post (sorry) i've also created a small Alex Jesaulenko Medal page, and updated player pages accordingly. Would be real nice if someone with pics/scans of the aforementioned medals could add them to the pages. Thanks. Blackmissionary 23:29, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions

[edit]

I have started a vote to get a consensus on the naming conventions for AFL season articles. You can participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject AFL#AFL season article naming convention. Cheers. Remy B 13:03, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Club colours/guernsey

[edit]

Is there any chance we could get a new infobox for clubs that include an image depicting the clubs guernsey or colours. It would look much better and make every club more uniform (no pun intended).

For example if I wanted to browse NFL clubs and check out what all their uniforms look like I only have to look at their info box see New England Patriots (all clubs have the same image). If I wanted to do the same for just about every soccer club in the world I can do so.

There is a problem with copyright (we know how wikipedians and bots are sticklers for copyright) because of the sponsors logos am I right? If so then obviously most realistic images like the NFL ones are out like this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:AFCE-Uniform-NE.PNG unless we remove sponsors logos.

I think we should do it like the soccer clubs do it. We don't have to have such a complicated info box where each part of the shirt is an image though. IMO we need to get this in line.

Jabso (talk) 14:21, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's true, but remember, many of the shirts (sorry, guernsey) are fairly complex... James.Denholm (talk) 04:10, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Australian Football League

[edit]

Heyas. I've started a rewrite of the Australian Football League article. Please take a look at here and make any changes that can help the article. We also need to trim the article. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Jasrocks (talk) 09:59, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFL Premiers Feature list

[edit]

I have nominated the List of Australian Football League premiers to hopefully become a feature list for wikipedia. Add you views to Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Australian Football League premiers if you want to.

Portal

[edit]

I have started up the new portal, based on the layout of featured portals such as at Christianity and Constructed Languages. The colour scheme was taken from your Wikiproject. The way it is set up at the moment means you must have different articles and pictures ready every month. Please talk to me if you need any futher assistance. Good luck! Season 2006

[edit]

A season article has been created, and this will be a run through of all games, and all news during the season. Feel free to help put on AFL Season 2006, and air your thoughts on the Discussion page.

Also we're looking at getting player profiles on all current players done - see each club's page for rosters.

Hey guys, just letting you know that this article is on peer review. I need as much advice as possible as I want to make this a featured article :). Go to Wikipedia:Peer review/Martin Mattner/archive2 to give me any tips or things that need expansion, or use my talk page. Cheers, Jasrocks Talk 10:09, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Collingwood 2006

[edit]

Just letting you know that all 2006 Collingwood players profiles have been completely updated, both body and statistics, while the Collingwood Magpies 2006 Season page has also been updated, with statistics and news. Lonie From 50 05:03, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just completed this list... lots of red ink on most team squads which should act as a guide for player pages to be created. The-Pope 20:44, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AFL website changes

[edit]

Seems like almost ALL of our afl.com.au links are now broken due to their new site. Ouch, this will take weeks. The-Pope 11:45, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also the sites have dropped some of the historical content previously available Gnangarra 11:49, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Telstra, gotta love 'em.
I'll patrol my old edits over the next two weeks and see what needs updating. If others can do the same we should catch most. But the use of "http://new.afl.com.au/Season2007"(note the 2007 part of the URL) does not auger well for the future. Pudgey 14:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Club Infoboxes

[edit]

Hi all, I've started infoboxes for each club, ive noticed them on soccer pages and some rugby league sites and they look like a useful tool. Below is a list of those already completed.

If you want to make edits or whatever, there you go. User:Theshiz162 14:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New AFL location templates

[edit]

Hey everyone!

If you wish to but the locations of current AFL or former VFL grounds, I have created two templates for everyone to use.

The current AFL stadiums template, can be used by writing {{AFL stadiums map}} into a wiki page. Click here to look at it.
The former VFL stadiums template, can be used by writing {{VFL stadiums map}} into a wiki page. Click here to look at it.

Any comments or feedback would be a great help too!

New Club Profile Infoboxes

[edit]

Hi Guys, I have created a new version of the infobox put on each club page as a profile. The current version is ver plain and could use some improvment. I want some different opinions on what i've created and whether or not it should be used and replace the existing infoboxes.

Thanks, --Theshiz162 12:09, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Australian Football League grounds

[edit]

Hello everyone!

Just thought I'd let you all know that I will be editting the List of Australian Football League grounds over the next few days, as I am attempting to make it a featured list for the Wikipedia Featured Page Contest. I was wondering, once I have completed it and got it up to "featured list" standard, if I could have feedback about the list and also support once I nominate it for a featured list? - C4v3m4n (talk) 00:27, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi everyone, Mark of the Year is currently a Featured-list candidate. Its taken a lot of work to get the article to this standard of quality, so any extra feedback would be invaluable. --Flewis(talk) 07:14, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations to all who assisted in achieving the project's first Featured anything! The-Pope (talk) 13:12, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
