Oxford Round Table and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oxford Round Table are SPA-fests. After a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Is_it_just_me... most of the accounts listed above were blocked as disruptive single-purpose accounts, but the blocks were contested in ensuing discussion (Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Review_of_three_of_the_above_blocks). A few have been unblocked. It turns out that there's extensive discussion of the Oxford Round Table on a forum hosted by the Chronicle of Higher Education ([1]) and the Wikipedia article has been discussed there; some of the listed accounts have said they're coming from that discussion.

A Checkuser would help clarify if any of the accounts are sockpuppets; if they are, they've been used to vote-stack at the AfD. --Akhilleus (talk) 03:26, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Forgot to mention that this article is the subject of an OTRS ticket (2008012410015146). --Akhilleus (talk) 03:30, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I unblocked the user Amelia9mm, but noticed when doing so that literally one minute earlier the autoblock had been activated. The information given was a 6-digit number (#780040), so I couldn't see whether it was an IP address or a different username which triggered the autoblock. It should be noted that Coligny was (for some reason) not blocked, and that Amelia9mm, Drstones and Franknfair never contributed to the AfD discussion. Franknfair was blocked in January for a legal threat. Billingsworth and InformationKey have been blocked for suspected sockpuppetry (I don't think this has been checked by checkuser). information Note: - I have OTRS access and have checked the above ticket. I will not be revealing IP information during this check, as it is not required here. The groups below are divided into groups of socks, as well as the unrelated group, which mainly consists of SPAs. So, to the best of my knowledge;

I would like to clarify why it seems "likely" that Academic2007 and Nomoskedasticity appear to be sockpuppets. Academic2007 is my brother - when I first started editing on Wikipedia I used his account (he sent me his log-in details), and then on 23rd January I created my own (Nomoskedasticity). There is almost no overlap in usage here (he has lost interest). If you investigate the IP addresses, you will see that Academic2007 created the account from an IP address in the US; I then used it a few times before creating my own - and the IP address in question is located in the UK (where I live). It should be easy to tell that there are two separate people here.
So this isn't sockpuppets - it was probably a violation of the rules for him to have sent me his account details and for me to use them, but the issue has been resolved. If you're inclined to block me over this, please keep in mind that blocking is supposed to be used to prevent future problems - and there is no longer any problem. Please accept my apologies, I recognize that issues like this take time and effort to clarify. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 16:31, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 Clerk note: I have tagged the first two groups of socks (already blocked by various admins) but have left Academic2007 and Nomoskedasticity. Should that issue be brought to AN/I? The unrelated ones aren't an issue, and the confirmed socks have been dealt with. Keilana|Parlez ici 19:26, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Judging from the edits and their timings, I'm inclined to believe the guy - Alison 07:54, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I won't block. I'll also move this to closed. Keilana|Parlez ici 01:05, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
