Most open proxies get shut down quickly because of spammers. 74.237.230.9 (talk) 22:52, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Beggs tailgate

[edit]

I saw in the Ooh to Be Ah video Nick Beggs was on an outing. He was waving to a woman across some street. All of a sudden, he's "tailgated" by some mysterious fellow. Who is the mystery man? Anyone?72.229.136.18 (talk) 05:04, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alyssa Milano doppelganger

[edit]

I saw in the video for Hang On Now a girl who looks like an older version of Alyssa Milano. The girl couldn't sleep. So she wakes up, turns on her TV set, and sees an animation of Limahl in action. She's also in some of the action with him and the rest of Kajagoogoo. Later, she feels better, turns off her TV set, and climbs back into bed. Who is the mystery girl? Anyone?72.229.136.18 (talk) 05:55, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Athletes stripped of their Olympic medals

[edit]

Sometimes -- especially nowadays with the steroids scandals -- you hear of Olympians and other athletes being stripped of their awards / titles / records / medals. I believe that this happened to Marion Jones very recently, as well. Anyways, it made me think of some questions. For sake of this discussion, let's just assume we are talking about Olympic medals.

  • When the Gold Medal winner is stripped of his medal, am I correct to assume that the Silver winner gets bumped up to Gold, the Bronze winner gets bumped up to Silver, and the 4th place guy gets bumped up to Bronze? Is that what happens ... or is there more to it all?
  • Physically, do they (Olympic officials, I guess) want to get the Gold Medal back? Do they request it? Do they demand it? Do they take legal action to recover it? Or do they just let the stripped athlete keep it?
  • Physically, do they go out and find the Silver, Bronze, and 4th place winner -- and give them a real, physical medal upgrade award? If so, is there any pomp or ceremony ... or do they basically just throw it in the mail? And will they "make" the Silver winner physically give up the Silver Medal, in exchange for the Gold? (etc.)

Ultimately, these questions boil down to: is the stripping of award medals and the re-awarding of upgraded standing medals all just put down on "paper" in the official records and books --- or do they also actually retreive/distribute the award medals physically?

And, by the way, how would they --- many years later --- actually get new award medals produced? I assume the die, casts, etc. are long gone from when the original medals were struck ... no?

Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 07:26, 18 January 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I don't know about the physical medals, but the second, third, and fourth places are bumped up. This causes further problems when they are also suspected of doping, as I think is the case with the silver medalist who would get Jones' gold... Adam Bishop (talk) 16:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What a mess! (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 18:58, 18 January 2008 (UTC))[reply]
It's not an automatic thing though. Marion Jones has been stripped of her Gold medal (the honour, at least, if not the actual medallion), but I'm sure I read that the IOC or whoever will be meeting to decide on whether to promote the Silver and Bronze winners of her events to Gold and Silver respectively, and the 4th place-getters to Bronze. This must mean that sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I guess every case and every event has to be looked at in light of the particular circumstances. -- JackofOz (talk) 12:04, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot to you both for weighing in --- I appreciate the input. Thank you. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 17:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC))[reply]

RoboCop character articles

[edit]

RoboCop, Anne Lewis and ED-209 have his own articles, but should be Cain have his own article? David Pro (talk) 13:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you identify this song?

[edit]

I've got a little bit of a song stuck in my head, and I can't remember enough of it to Google it. I think it was out when I was little, so some time in the 80's. I remember a male vocalist, and some lyrics along the lines of "Hey (boy's name) what do you see? Hey hey (boy's name)"- but I can't remember what boy's name it was. There was also the voice of a little boy listing off the things he wanted to be when he grew up. Help? MorganaFiolett (talk) 13:41, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The song is Hey Matthew by Karel Fialka. DuncanHill (talk) 13:43, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! And that was flipping quick! MorganaFiolett (talk) 13:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you google "Karel Fialka", the first link that comes up is a youtube of the song. Matthew is Karel Fialka's step-son. DuncanHill (talk) 13:48, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sparkwood (Band)

[edit]

Could you please tell me all the CD's (both full length, EP's and Singles) released by the Austin band, Sparkwood? I'd also like to know if they're still a band? Also, does someone from the band Cotton Mather play with them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Babloqueen (talkcontribs) 14:50, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Short Circuit 3

[edit]

Alright, Wikipedians, let's settle this thing once and for all. Does anyone have an insight, authorized or un-, about the little robot from Wall•E being a stylized version of a Short Circuit robot? Is this little dude supposed to be Johnny 25 or something? Beekone (talk) 14:53, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Objection. Calls for conjecture. --LarryMac | Talk 15:30, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want the information for any purpose other than to satisfy my own personal interest. I promise not to use or site any unauthorized information or here-say as official information... okay? Beekone (talk) 16:35, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't know, but the bit where he runs over a cricket suggests a reference. 79.66.24.40 (talk) 16:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orange Box USB keyboard support on console

[edit]

Does anybody know if The Orange Box for the XBox 360 or the PlayStation 3 supports an attached USB keyboard and mouse? 208.2.205.162 (talk) 21:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure. --Niyant (talk) 05:10, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Is that a pretty sure yes or a pretty sure no? 208.2.205.162 (talk) 19:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, it doesn't, at least not for controlling the player with keyboard and mouse like you would if you were playing Orange Box on the PC. That's why companies have had to make weird controller/mouse hybrids like this. Recury (talk) 20:14, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chorus to "Juicy" by Notorious B.I.G.

[edit]

Who sings that part? Rappingwonders (talk) 22:19, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, take your time, no rush... Rappingwonders (talk) 02:19, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
well it takes from a song called 'juicy fruit' by mtume and from what I can make it sounds like a direct sample of the chorus. So I would say it is whoever was in that band (here's the original via youtube...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQpwerg5BFU) ny156uk (talk) 15:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
