Where do I start?

Wikipedia – 5 minute register for Wikipedia account
Wikipedia – 15 minute overview: 5 pillars, Conflict of Interest policies, self guided introduction, Intro with videos etc. (examples: COI #1, COI #2)
Wikipedia – 40 minute make one edit: add infobox, citation, etc.
Wikipedia – 2-3 hours: Write a page in your sandbox and get it proofed before publishing.

When there are no other options, if your attempts to contact are unmet, and no images exist as open license, and the subject has passed away, leaving no future possibility for new open photos, you may propose to upload one photo as an illustration to an article to Wikipedia directly instead of Commons.
