Adding new sites for our displays to be found

[edit]
Hello

I am a member of the Bull Creek Aviation Museum in Perth West Australia,

I have just found that our Museum is not listed in any of the sites for Aircraft engines,( or aircraft) we have at the Museum, some run, others are display only, I was adding them to your Wikipedia page with our web page site details so people can look up our engines too.

Please can you let me know how to continue to add more aircraft and aircraft engines ( we have some 30 engines on display) to Wikipedia sites without falling foul of your spam etc rules, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.221.134.250 (talk) 04:55, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you are correct that we don't allow spam links to external websites. So please don't add any weblinks to Wikipedia pages. However, you are in luck. Wikipedia has a page about your museum at Aviation Heritage Museum (Western Australia). If it is relevant, you can link to that internal page from other pages. Btw, it would also help to promote your museum if you make some more pictures of the museums airplanes and upload them under a free licence to Wikipedia. We welcome pictures like that. Other people will certainly make good use of those pictures on article pages in over a hundred languages, and anyone who sees the pictures and looks up more info on the pictures will find your museum. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 05:49, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A slight correction to what Taketa says: please upload any pictures to Wikimedia commons rather than to Wikipedia: that is required if other language Wikipedias are are to be able to use them. --ColinFine (talk) 11:49, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Another correction: it is not our objective to promote your museum, but the content Taketa suggested would be helpful to people doing research.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:18, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Created an article

[edit]

Hello, I created an article for this section, but when I look for the Wikipedia page that I created I see 'Redirected from user - my name-' how can I do to find directly the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sommer_Contemporary_Art instead of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sommer_Contemporary_Art?

Thank you in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nobili Vitelleschi Camilla (talkcontribs) 06:05, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article is at Sommer Contemporary Art. Dismas|(talk) 06:40, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! I see now. You moved the page twice. You initially wrote it on your own userpage (which is something that most people don't do) and then moved it to the Wikipedia name space. Then moved it again to the main article space. But now the notices that people have left on your talk page are on the talk page for the article. I feel we'll need an administrator to sort this out. Dismas|(talk) 06:46, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It was also posted to Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Page Redirected from -. It has been sorted out. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:20, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Daily Star article on "Stone Taking Over Farmlands”

[edit]

Sir, I am highly impressed to read the article “Stone Taking Over Farmlands” (source: The Daily Star today, dated 29-10-2014). I was totally ignorant about the importance of stones in soil. It may be well known to other educated individuals. But from my understanding i says, this message should be disseminated among general citizen. While Bangladesh is enumerated as an “Agriculture Dominated Nation ('krishi Pradhan desh)”, is such information included in our School Lesson? I am not aware of such lesson! Sir; yourself is running a TV Channel; dissemination of all the important factors including stones in the Farmland is possible. Forgive me for my ignorance! Almighty prosper our nation’. Hello Dr. Nahar, you are apparently trying to contact The Daily Star, but you have in fact reached the help desk of Wikipedia, an encyclopedia. —teb728 t c 07:38, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

HOW TO EDIT AN ARTICLE TITLE

[edit]

HOW CAN I CHNAGE MY SRTICLE HEADING? IT IS CURRENTLY APPEARING AS WHAT I USED AS MY USER LOG IN ID.I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE IT TO MY ACTUAL COMPANY'S NAME.HOW CAN I EDIT? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.121.36.194 (talk) 08:59, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This sounds as if you have in fact created a "user page", not an article. Please take a look at this guidance on how to go about creating an article. However, if you plan to input an article about your own company, please refer to our conflict-of-interest policy before you do so, as Wikipedia is not here for advertising or promotion. Finally, please do not type messages in block capitals on the internet, as this is regarded as "shouting": Noyster (talk), 10:16, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You were not logged in when you posted here so we don't know which page it is about. You can ask for a review by adding {{subst:submit}} to the page. The review may take some time but if it is approved as an article then it will be moved to the real encyclopedia. However, most people writing about their own company don't do it in a way satisfying our policies. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:11, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Can I correct a typo error in an article title: namely to correct the title Stanislav Hanzík - it should be Hanzik. Thanks fot help. Stella-J (talk) 18:53, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied at your talk page. Huon (talk) 19:21, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Difficult editor

[edit]

What is the best way to deal with an editor who often in his comments in Talk page discussion personally insults co-editors? I have left a note on his Talk page reminding him of WP:CIVIL and WP:PA and suffered from it ever since. Is there a formal sanction for this behavior? --P123ct1 (talk) 09:38, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - repeated personal attacks are valid grounds for a block. You can report the other editor to an administrator, either directly or by posting at WP:ANI. Yunshui  09:48, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Yunshui. --P123ct1 (talk) 10:21, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Dear editors: While looking for something else in Wikipedia:Articles for creation I came across this redirect: Wikipedia:Articles for Creation/Rick Lax. At some time in the past this was likely a draft that was placed in the wrong namespace and then moved out to mainspace. There are no incoming links for which to preserve it, and no one would search for Rick Lax there. Should I deleted this under "Housekeeping", or maybe "Implausible redirect"? —Anne Delong (talk) 12:47, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anne, the history says you are right. An editor moved it, and eventually someone approved it as well. I would delete, and file it under WP:G6, since this is uncontroversial housekeeping. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 13:04, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gregory Lewis

[edit]

I wish i could stay instead of being up for deletion. --29djeg (talk) 15:38, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And we wish you would be a good contributor. Looking at Gregory Lewis and Paul Kitterman it is evident why they were deleted, and Pizza time will be deleted as well. Take a look at the links in the welcome message on your talk page. Edit a few articles and make good contributions. Lear how Wikipedia works. Then think about creating articles. --  Gadget850 talk 16:48, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Has anybody else noticed that we get a lot of this here? I'm thinking someone should identify the page(s) where new users learn the first thing about creating articles, and add language like the above there. Prominently. It would save them and us a lot of wasted time. ‑‑Mandruss  20:14, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think 188 is writing about the article Pyrex here on en:Wikipedia, which says "France-based cookware maker Arc International acquired Newell's European business in early 2006,[6] and currently owns rights to the brand in Europe, the Middle East and Africa." He claims that the brand has been sold to Aurora Resurgence from January 2015. But it is still 2014, so I see no need to update the article yet. Maproom (talk) 18:10, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How do I get a page created?

[edit]

I am trying to write a page for an author I like Daniel Boyd, I tried to create a page, but years ago I think he tried to create a page for himself 6 years ago (which you're not suppose to do, so it got deleted).

He has a lot of articles online now that credit him as a notable filmmaker and author.

What do I need to do now to create a page that won't be deleted?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eschaefer2 (talkcontribs) 20:07, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Your first article, and WP:AUTHOR. In order for an article to be acceptable, it will need to demonstrate through significant coverage in third-party published sources that Boyd meets our notability guidelines. AndyTheGrump (talk) 20:19, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The article was deleted previously (at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Boyd) In agreement with Andy, including citations to reliable sources (that discuss him in some detail and verify the information you include) is key. You should also write with a neutral tone – just tell us the plain facts that the sources corroborate. Help:Referencing for beginners may be of some help in getting started.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:39, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@92.236.102.241: there is no article on this album. However, I think it meets the requirements for notability just based on what is said in the Gay Dad article. You could write the article yourself or request that it be created, though that takes longer.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:31, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
