Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Tmontford and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Ⓩⓟⓟⓘⓧ (talk) 19:51, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tmontford, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Information icon Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Information icon Hello, Tmontford. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.Deb (talk) 14:05, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Did you see the above advice from both myself and User:power~enwiki? If you don't have a COI, that's great, but you will still have to abide by the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view policy if you want to recreate the article - and if you do, check out the Wikipedia:Article naming conventions (Stephanie Arnold (author) would be the correct way to write the title.) Deb (talk) 17:00, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've added some tips on the Talk page of your sandbox. It would be a good idea to work on it in the sandbox as soon as you can, otherwise the sandbox could also be deleted for promotional language. Deb (talk) 17:10, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I recommend you check out the Teahouse for help. I can only help people who are currently enrolled in courses we support. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:28, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Stephanie Arnold (author)) has been reviewed!
