A barnstar for you!
The Brilliant Idea Barnstar | |
For your suggestion to remove Template:Contains Chinese text, which adds clutter to stacks of pages, yet serves no modern purpose. Viewed by tens of thousands, yet only you had the brilliant idea that it's no longer needed. Keep that mind churning!! Tom (LT) (talk) 22:21, 17 November 2017 (UTC) |

New Page Reviewing
Hello, Timmyshin.
I've seen you editing recently and you seem knowledgeable about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. |
- Hi, thanks for the invite, but I must politely decline. Thanks. Timmyshin (talk) 22:11, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
Hmm
Check out Justin Suen. It's a recreation of Justin Sun by socks blocked as Mokezhilao but I'm having a hard time pinpointing the actual master to the last creation since the previous editor who was blocked wasn't confirmed via CU but you'd posted about 前三夜 who created it last...so I'm going in circles lol. Any thoughts? CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 14:07, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- I can't see the Justin Suen article but I see you already got the puppet blocked. Good job! Timmyshin (talk) 20:21, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Timmyshin. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
ANI Experiences survey
The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.
The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:
If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be mailed to you via Special:Emailuser.
Please be aware this survey will close Friday, Dec. 8 at 23:00 UTC.
Thank you on behalf of the Support & Safety and Anti-Harassment Tools Teams, Patrick Earley (WMF) talk 21:14, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you
For the barnstar. And thanks for your work too, esp. on all things China. I see your name crop-up on my watchlist in the film area lots of times. Thanks again! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:10, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- I second this. Thank you for your work with China-related topics Timmy! Alex Shih (talk) 05:34, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Wu Yongning
I recently opened a DRV Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2018 January 4, any sources regarding this person before his death is notable. Are you able to read Chinese, I assume all sources before his death are Chinese, were you able to find anything? While I can speak the language fluently, I am unable to read Chinese. Valoem talk contrib 04:34, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- The sources I found are [1] (dated October 11, 2017, a report from Wuhan) and [2] (dated October 17, 2017, a report from Changsha). Neither report was able to identify his name, so I'm not sure how useful they are. Regards. Timmyshin (talk) 04:46, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
Sun sock...
I'm wondering if this is another Justin Sun type creation given it's heavy focus on him... CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 15:45, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- User:Chrissymad Good find but methinks it's a meatpuppet rather than a sockpuppet. The Aristotle/Mokezhilao socks have worse English skills and rely much more on Chinese sources. Let's keep an eye on this user/page. Timmyshin (talk) 22:10, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
Can you verify the information is correct? I want to make sure these are the same company and that this company did originate in Taiwan some sources suggest this is a United States based company. Valoem talk contrib 07:58, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not totally sure what you want me to verify but this link [sunpentown.cn] doesn't work any more. The PRC official site appears to be [ys-spt.com]. The Taiwanese official site is [sunpentown.com.tw]. There's a Canadian official site [sunpentown.ca], which is in English, and mentions its Taiwanese roots in its "About Us" section. Timmyshin (talk) 17:24, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- I want to verify the company was founded in Taiwan as Sunpentown Electric Company in 1985 and then expanded to United States in 1993 under the name Sunpentown International. Valoem talk contrib 19:57, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- Chinese sources don't mention the English/international names but the years are correct per Baidu Bakie. Timmyshin (talk) 21:14, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello, can you please add WP:INLINECITED sources to Xu Zengcai? It is a requirement for blps. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 14:16, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
Huang Zongying
Hi Timmyshin, thanks for creating Huang Zongying! It's been on my to-do list for a while, so I expanded the article and nominated it for DYK. See Template:Did you know nominations/Huang Zongying. Feel free to make comments and/or suggest alternate hooks there. Cheers! -Zanhe (talk) 23:22, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
DYK for Huang Zongying
On 20 February 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Huang Zongying, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Huang Zongying and her husband Zhao Dan were both named among the best 100 actors in the history of Chinese cinema? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Huang Zongying. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Huang Zongying), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Ouyang Xiu
Hi! Please don't remove the copyvio blanking from a page such as Ouyang Xiu unless you belong to one the groups authorised to do that. Certainly it's been a long time, but unfortunately WP:CP is back-logged. If you want to work on a copyvio-free version of the page you can do so here; that would of course be most helpful. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:39, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- ... and of course edit-warring over it is just completely pointless and stupid. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 08:41, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- I've fully protected the page. If it is a copyvio then removing the tag is the same as adding a copyvio. It doesn't matter how long it takes to sort out. It would probably be quicker to redo the page. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 07:21, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
