What reliable sources can be added for an academic journal?
Hi Theroadislong
You have rejected my article titled 'Nature Environment and Pollution Technology' which is about an academic journal in the field of Environmental Science. You have stated the reason as it should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established.
As this article is about an academic journal i have added its inclusion in Scopus which is one of the notability factor in its field. What other independent sources do you expect for a scientific journal? Should i add some more references to other databases where it is included like the proquest, EBSCO, Index Copernicus etc. Or should i add references to its most cited articles? Please help me what kind of references do you expect for an academic journal. Regards

Hi there, Thank you for your comment. I have a question related to the notablity of a page to be created. I'm assigned to create a page for the former ambassador of Switzerland to China. Is it sufficiently notable for a wikipedia page? Thank you.

HiFives Platform Wikipedia Page
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:FeetRhythmic/sandbox I had submitted this article based on independent media websites such as Economic Times (India's number 1 financial newspaper), Bangalore Mirror (city publication of India's No 1 media house Times of India) and Hindu Businessline (one of the oldest newspapers in India) and other reputed corporate websites such as Red Herring . They no linkage with any other business including HiFives except for being a source of information. Galerie Richard
Hello Theroadislong. I thought the list of artists at Galerie Richard valuable information that should be preserved. The list is on the gallery website here http://www.galerierichard.com/en_artists.php So if you dont mind, I will reinstate it and cite that page. Hope that is agreeable to you. Valueyou (talk) 07:04, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- I don't agree. The article is already VERY poorly sourced and promotional, I don't see any value in having a long list of non notable artists sourced to their own website. Theroadislong (talk) 07:16, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- OK then. Valueyou (talk) 07:21, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
Hugh Victor Duke
Dear Theroadislong,
Re: Hugh Victor Duke
Thank you for you and colleagues' comments about my article recently submitted to Wikipedia. Please can you kindly advise me what I should do now to make the entry acceptable for publication online. I realize that it is probably too long and will happily shorten it, as you seem to suggest. But no one else in the world has this information, so it would be unfortunate if it fails to see the light of day for technical reasons which I am not that conversant with. I doubt that anyone else has the data and certainly not the photos to write such an informative account of this particular brave soldier, one of Britain's esteemed (no less than by the State and King George VI himself) war heroes of the 2nd World War.
With many best wishes,
Hugh

- The article should be limited to a summary of what independent sources have said about him. Wikipedia has no interest in what you or I know about a subject. If there are no published sources for the content, then it doesn't belong on Wikipedia, please also note that Wikipedia is not a venue for memorials, see WP:NOTMEMORIAL. Hempress Sativa
Hi there,
I drafted the Wikipedia page for HEMPRESS SATIVA, which you have rejected as it does not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject.
Whilst I agree that this is true of the YouTube pages which I've mentioned, any other references are from independent reliable websites, blogs, newspapers, so i'm not sure why they've been rejected. Are there particular ones which need to change?
Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

- TheBalticCount Your draft has been declined NOT rejected. You have used quite a few interviews which are not considered reliable, neither are most blogs. Wikipedia cannot be used as a source, and the assorted videos don't contribute to any notability, the artist would need to pass the criteria at WP:NMUSICIAN and it's not clear how they do yet? "Digital Finance" article
Hello, Unfortunately, my article submission has been rejected. I just wanted to draw your attention that I have provided a reference to an independent article about Digital Finance and its invention of the new financial product, in the reliable source (Washington Business Journal). Though it was a paid subscription article. Probably that was the reason for the rejection as you could not see the content of this article? Could you please help me and advise how to fix that? Currently, I have only this single article fully devoted to Digital Finance and its innovative financial product. I also provided references to SEC website to confirm that Digital Finance was registered as one of the first digital assets investment advisors in the U.S. and filed its innovative product with SEC. Please help me to improve my article so I can resubmit it. Thank you in advance for your time!

Hello Theroadislong! Oh dear, just NOW, as i am retyping and moving my message to you, i see it looks like you replied (below) already (so quickly!) to my message to you. Here's what i'd written to you: Thank you for your input on my Talk page. The thing is, all four photographs uploaded onto the page Draft:Manfred 'Little' Konzett for Manfred 'Little' Konzett, ARE indeed owned by him, and he has given me 100% permission to use, upload, and describe them on Wikipedia in association with the article I am writing about this noteworthy recording engineer/producer in Austria and Liechtenstein, who has worked with high profile musicians (American, English, etc) for many years. I've just received further information and instructions from Rich Smith, telling me how to properly give credit for these photographs. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:Deletion_requests/File:Little_Big_Beat_Studios,_Eschen_Liechtenstein..jpg ? About 'Shuvro'
I, Suborno Sabbir, really appreciate your concern about the standards of Wikipedia. I also respect the standards of this free encyclopedia. 'Shuvro' is a famous fictional created by Humayun Ahmed, a legendary novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, songwriter, scholar and lecturer. And please don't think that he is a non-important person as he's from Bangladesh, a very poor country. He was offered a fellowship in Theoretical Mechanics in just a session in North Dakota State University. He was a versatile genius. And one of his incredible creation is 'Shuvro' and it deserves its proper recognition. So, I humbly request you to kindly accept this article and later it will be fixed by me and millions of other fans of Humayun Ahmed's Shuvro, Thank You.
- Looks like you have bypassed the articles for creation process and moved it to mainspace, but unless you add reliable sources it is likely to be deleted. Theroadislong (talk) 12:56, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Theroadislong Please, do you mind undoing the edits you made yesterday on Unique Recording Studios Wikipedia page. The info you deleted was not created by me, my husband or any paid agents of our defunct studios. What is this puffery that you cite? You want to erase our entire legacy with a stroke of your edit wand? We ran a recording studios in Times Square for over 25 years, made hundreds of Gold and Platinum records. Many have received Grammy nominations and awards. In addition the Studios were nominated for a Mix Magazine Technical Excellence award in 1987. Many of of our former engineers have gone on to be world class leaders in the recording field, some winning Grammy Awards for engineering including Tom Lord Alge and Chris Lord Alge.
I am new on wikipedia and admit may have made mistakes, but I am willing to learn. But my learning should not be punishment against my studios. I am asking you to please restore the edits you have made. Joanne NathanJoanne.nathan (talk) 14:32, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Here is my response to your reply at the help-desk:
Theroadislong, I'm so sorry. I didn't ignore your response; I'm just seeing it. Somehow, I missed the notification. I only got the notifications from the Teahouse, and using the suggestions from the Teahouse, I rewrote and shortened the article and left only 17 references from the most reliable sources. The new edition has already been submitted and now I saw this. What do I do now? Based on the Teahouse suggestions, the new edition is practically a stub. Maybe someday, if it scales AfC, other editors will add more information about Dr. Dobbs to the article. Thanks, I never knew you replied me. Thanks a bunch and no hard feelings. One love. Francis Robert Kelly
Thank you for your comment. I've looked at criteria for artists, and believe that Kelly created a substantial body of work, and his artworks are still being bought and sold today. He has work in many galleries and permanent collections around the world, including the Tate in London and the Ashmolean in Oxford. I've added to the section on his professional work to make this clearer. He wrote two books on art restoration, to which he made a significant contribution in Florence (as mentioned in the article). His work has appeared in significant exhibitions (eg the prestigious Royal Academy, London, several times). His work has also appeared in several books and exhibition catalogues, reflecting his involvement in many exhibitions. I hope this helps to clarify his notability - thank you :-) CourtauldGill (talk) 09:05, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Newfoundland Travelling Theatre Company
Hi there, Thank you so much for responding to my article.
I'm a guest editor through Memorial University and the Newfoundland Quarterly and our aim this summer is to increase the Wikipedia knowledge of various Newfoundland and Labrador subject. I've overseeing theatre.
New to Wiki, I'm trying to sort out how to properly cite my sources and where to do so.
I just added some encyclopedic sources to this article to support the piece. I'm seeing however that many of these sources are quite old and I'm concerned that some of the artists and organizations in the past 25 years may face the challenge of having enough qualifiable citations. Articles and Reviews will be most abundant.
I'll also go back to our organizers to let them know that this may become a challenge as we progress in the work.
When you get a chance, have a look and see if I'm now going in the right direction. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Ruth Lawrence — Preceding unsigned comment added by RuthieLawrence (talk • contribs) 13:14, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Cr Bruce Devereaux - rejected
Just wondering if I can have some idea the grounds this was rejected on. I'll note the reason I put this up is I am mentioned on another wikipedia page and I thought it would be good to link from there to information on me. In Australia, while not a celebrity, I am interviewed fairly regularly on radio and have appeared on various tv programs as a blogger of note and spoken at Qld Parliament House and been the guest of honour at a Gala event raising money for cancer research in Tasmania. I literally can't go shopping along the east coast of Australia without someone recognising me and wanting a chat - I know because was on the road with my family for eighteen months and it became something of a game picking out when someone started stalking us in a supermarket. Reasoning for undoing my addition
Hi,
I wanted to ask why you have reverted my addition to List of language self-study programs with the tags stating lack of notability and sources.
Regarding notability, I have specifically mentioned my intention to write a full article on the subject of my addition (which is now complete) - given Wikipedia's rather vague notability guidelines, I have created the article in bona fide that a sourced collaboration with and endorsement from the country and region's leading research and tertiary education institution is enough (though if it isn't, there isn't much I could do about it except for complaining about the guidelines' vagueness costing me a loss of a non-zero number of hours in editing time).
Regarding sources, I provide some secondary and some primary sources in the dedicated article linked above, as I thought I wouldn't be required to provide sources for the expansions of a list in which, as far as I'm aware, a lot of the listed items lack sources as well.
To summarise, I would appreciate a more transparent approach to speedy deletions and edit reversions, especially in cases such as this, when the article itself invites users to expand the list.
SeriousSamIAm (talk) 13:48, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Now you have created the article, it can be added to the list at List of language self-study programs but be advised that your sources, (blogs and press releases) are not suitable reliable sources for establishing notability. Theroadislong (talk) 14:22, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

- The whole draft reads like a promotional magazine article, the tone is totally inappropriate for an encyclopedia, if you cannot see this then your conflict of interest is blinding you. Need help on - Article for Dr. (Col.) V. P.Singh
This is a wiki page for my father who is a very well known poet of India, he served in the Indian Army for many years and pursued his passion for poetry and hindi literature in parallel. He is a doctor and has worked in two medical colleges after having left the army. He is an inspiration and helps drive a spirit of love and respect along with patriotism among the youth. I have added a link with a lot of newspaper cuttings over the years for his work. Can you tell me what other source do you need? Sadly indian poetry has not completely gone digital yet. Trade Tech
Hi there - thanks for the quick review of the article Tradetech. That was seconds after submission - you must be a speed reader ;-)
I think there might be some confusion - please allow me to clarify: I am aware that there is a company somewhere that uses the name Tradetech but this article has nothing (!) to do with them. It is about technology in trade finance which is a thing as you can see from the abundant references. It is in the vein of fintech, regtech, insure tech, ...
Tradetech as a business, as far as I can see, does something entirely different. They probably would even not like the use of the term in this context but as it has noting to do with them they should not be able to object. The WTO has coined the term and it is widely used.
So not sure why this was shot down?

Dear moderator, I am writing you the understand the reason why the page Privacy1 is being declined. We won the trademark and we have released our product to both Google and Amazon cloud as an official partner. There are concrete proof of credibility of our company and I have added the source of the external links to the company product listing in the official Google and AWS marketplace.
As for the notability of our company I am unsure which rule do we not meet. Is it the multiple coverage? Thank you for your time.
- Your draft Draft:Privacy1 about your own company, has one source which is a press release, articles require multiple in-depth independent sources, you have none, so no evidence whatsoever of passing WP:NCORP. Theroadislong (talk) 10:04, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

Erik Reel: draft article
I hope this finds you safe and well. You recently and kindly helped me already on a draft article on Erik Reel. I notice that you have experience working with art-related articles and information. Perhaps you could help me.
My biggest problem seems to be my inability to understand why this draft is not postable and why my citations are not considered "reliable". Everything in this article is correct. That I am certain of. I've only been writing about artists whose shows I've witnessed for decades and have a lot of information on. Not all of it usable in a Wikipedia article of course. As for references in the art world, especially for artists working outside academia as many of the best do, what could be more reliable than catalogs published by museums and universities on exhibitions at those museums? Or a book on the artist? If we have to wait for a full biography for living artists before we can write about these artists (as opposed to about their art) then we're in trouble: for example, Cy Twombly is one of the best painters in the last century, but a biography just came out for him for the first time just last year, after he's long dead.
Perhaps I should explain where I am coming from. I have been using wikipedia since it was founded and use it all the time and am deeply appreciative of contributors such as yourself who have worked long and hard at giving us all these great resources. I got a WP username so I could edit primarily because as a longtime professional editor in my other life it drove me crazy to see all this ungrammatical English and outright wrong information when I read articles. This way I can contribute something back. And I have some expertise, especially in the arts and an interest in improving the coverage of women, particularly women of color in art and fashion.
But I am really only a text editor. I am not a researcher--never was, and never will be. I'm not an academic. So I've run into snags on my third article and realize that the draft I have is pretty much as far as I know how to go. My original intention was to put up not much more than stubs on a humble list of artists and people of note in the art, fashion, and curatorial worlds where Wikipedia has glaring gaps and where I have information, with the hope that others with far more research chops and skills than I have would be able to add to over time. This is especially true of this article on Erik Reel. My original intent was to pretty much do a stub. So now I'm afraid I'm at my limits on this [Erik Reel] article. It has delivered proof to me that creating articles is not for me. Time to stick to simple text editing. I am at a loss otherwise as to what to do, so I am moving on and going back to just simple text editing as I read during my course of wikipedia use.
There are a few other aspects of the Erik Reel article experience that disturb me: someone took an earlier draft of this article and posted it on a site called Wikitia. But there are errors in that draft and since I have nothing to do with Wikitia, never even heard of it before, there is no way I can correct them, except through getting the right information up there on Wikipedia. But I cannot do that if the wikipedia article never gets up there. Everything I have put into this wikipedia Erik Reel draft is accurate, but that means nothing in terms of getting the right information out, if it is never posted.
Further, while I was drafting this article it was made known to me that because of this draft, someone inside Wikipedia or their collaborators, took that information and used it to target my subject with a scam (fortunately it seems my subject is pretty savvy and basically told them to go shove it). I feel very bad about this. Artists are not like movie stars with a retinue of lawyers and corporations around them who can buffer and protect them. They are often working alone, with the barest of resources--especially in these days of COVID 19 when their theatres, museums and galleries are closed down and they have less revenue. So they are struggling. And the artists I want to write about are often older and vulnerable.
So I feel terrible that just because I decided to write about this artist that they were targeted and that incorrect information is now out there on this damn Wikitia site. So I have inadvertently caused harm. This alone makes me very wary of writing any further articles on living people, especially on artists. Maybe some terminology, like a needed article on "circular fashion" or something. Maybe. But again, I'm not a researcher, just a simple text editor. So bits of text editing for me for the future. Thank you for your time, if you got this far, thanks for "listening". Keep safe.Socratesart (talk) 19:51, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Socratesart (talk) 19:55, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Creating articles is simply a process of reporting what the reliable sources say about a subject. The subject would need to pass the criteria at WP:NARTIST. Having work in major museum collections will usually be enough, but I don't know if the museums mentioned are notable. Theroadislong (talk) 20:23, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- thereadislong Agree. Thank you for all your help; it is much appreciated. Subsequent discussion clarified that notability is not established. But I learned a lot about Wikipedia, which will help going forward.Socratesart (talk) 14:51, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
Draft:Scattered Comics
Hi there:
After reading the reliable sources Wikipedia page, I need a little more guidance as to your comment "zero reliable sources." There are four sources for the page (so far): the scattered comics page itself, two news media interviews, and a Wikipedia cross reference.
Thanks! Mightykieth (talk) 15:14, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Mightykieth The draft Draft:Scattered Comics needs independent reliable sources, their own website is a primary source so cannot be used to establish any notability and interviews and YouTube are not usually considered a reliable source either. Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference either, sorry. Theroadislong (talk) 15:37, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Everett McCorvey draft
Hello, Thank you for reading the proposed Everett McCorvey page and I appreciate your feedback. I'm wondering if you could givew me a little more information from your perspective about how to define his notability. (I understand that the lists of recognitions, academic positions, etc. need to be trimmed or eliminated but I am a little confused whether the concern is that someone who heads an academic program that has achieved recognition and gotten two students to the Met finals, as well as the National Chorale at Lincoln Center and is founder of the world-touring American Spiritual Ensemble is not notable or that I have failed to fully cite those accomplishments. Any help appreciated! Thank you.l Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 18:05, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the information about the Coquitlam Public Library page and for removing content that doesn't follow Wikipedia guidelines. I'll disclose my connection on my main user page and any future proposed changes will go on the talk page of the article. Are there other steps I can take so that the multiple issues warnings can come off the article? Is there a way to restore the old version of the article so that any proposed changes can go the proper route? Thanks,RosanneHCPL (talk) 22:05, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

All Saints Parish Hall
Thank you for your advice - I've added architectural detail from the official local listing document and hope that clinches the 'notability'. Really appreciate your help with this. CourtauldGill (talk) 17:08, 7 July 2020 (UTC) Just checking whether the local council's detailed description, quoted in my update, helps to confirm the architectural significance of the building? Also to mention that the architect has a Grade II* listed building in another London borough, so his work is officially recognised as being of high artistic value. Thank you. CourtauldGill (talk) 14:49, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Independent sources are required really, and notability cannot be inherited, either the building is notable in itself or it's not. Theroadislong (talk) 14:59, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you - the local council description which I've quoted in full is an independent source - it's written by a knowledgeable officer working for the local authority. The simple fact that the building is "locally listed" by the local authority is a clear indication that it's a notable building - it's not easy to get the local council to add a building to their local list, but its inclusion on that list shows that it's regarded as being of architectural interest and value, and the building is given a higher level of protection (eg from development, alteration, demolition, etc). The building is unique and notable, in Arts & Crafts style (the style itself has its own Wikipedia article), with good quality materials, and it's twice been the focus of an Open House London event in the last few years, when guided tours were given to members of the public (approx. 200 visitors in one day). My article is also about the social history of the building - the building as a focus of social and cultural activity over almost 100 years. I hope this helps to clarify - thank you. CourtauldGill (talk) 13:02, 11 July 2020 (UTC) Two photos taken today and added to the draft article, showing the unique design of the building. CourtauldGill (talk) 14:04, 14 July 2020 (UTC) Hello - the article has received some expert detailed attention from User:Paul W, a local building historian who knows the area well, and recognises the architectural quality of this building - I hope it's now acceptable for publication? Kind regards - CourtauldGill (talk) 12:43, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Regarding my article titled kharbhat
Thank you for reviewing the page. This article is of a geographical location in India. Unfortunately as the place is away from the city there are very few references available. Considering that wiki is a place where we can look up for such information , this page can be used for the same. If the point of rejection is solely because of lack of publicised references , i am not sure if wiki would serve the purpose to enlighten on topics of lesser known nature. I have read articles in wiki that are not based on facts or plain myths without any notable references but they are there because they belong to a famous entity. I believe wiki should be impartial when taking decisions on adding articles as the purpose is to serve as an encyclopaedia reference. I would request you to reconsider this article from an information perspective. If you think that a map or lattitude longitude reference would help , i can add that. Thanks for reconsidering. Gerald Bonner article
I appreciate the need to strike unattributed material, and I appreciate it would have been better to use the preview function, but I posted the transcribed quote from my father's Times letter to check it looked right and was about to add the reference when it was struck down. Can I revert your deletion so that I can at least recover the text that I had painstakingly typed and I will then repost with the atribution (which is 26 May 1984, p.7); I don't want to be sanctioned for defying the moderators.
Incidentally I have access to Gale's online Times through my university, so my link only works for people at Durham. I'm also not sure what the template for newspaper sources may be. Can you advise?
JBonnerAnglican (talk) 08:31, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- Template:Cite news is what you need, but as per the article's talk page, you are strongly advised not to directly edit the article as you have a conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 08:39, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
If a published encyclopedia article had been commissioned for my father it would almost certainly have been written by one of his colleagues, who would have had a similar conflict of interest. At present, your editor Tribe of Tiger has been kindly working through the material that I have inserted and I have asked him to remove anything that seems personal or inadequately sourced. Ironically, he has been using an online obituary that I helped write and I have been trying to find less personal published sources that will reduce the need to rely on that obituary, so I am surely contributing at least as much to making this an authoriative source?
JBonnerAnglican (talk) 08:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- Had the article been written by one of his colleagues, they would also have been advised about their conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 09:00, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
