Any ideas for illustrations for Darb Al Arbain?

[edit]

Hi if you have a time or interest could you recommend an image that reflects the ancient connections between Sudan/Nubia and Egypt and/or the presence of Sudanese/Nubian or sub-Saharan Africans in ancient Egypt ? I think the history section of Darb Al Arbain would benefit from that but no idea what to use. TY in advance if you can help. jengod (talk) 17:58, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! There's a few paintings from New Kingdom tombs depicting Nubian embassies bringing tribute and goods which I think would work rather well. I'll link some below:

From the tomb of Sobekhotep TT63

TT8 reassessment

[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for your contributions to the page. Just letting you know I'm not quite done with my expansions of the page : ) I have nearly ready expansions of their sarcophagi, coffins, and mummies in my sandbox. I doubt a reassessment will happen very quickly - the other pages waiting to be assessed have been waiting since this March and last December - so it probably won't be an issue. I will try to do it soon either way ^_^ Merytat3n (talk) 01:10, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just seen its because you are unsure of the quality classification procedure. I agree with you that its not a Stub - it wasn't a stub even before I started expanding it. In its previous form it should have been a Start class article. Stub banners at the bottom of pages are easy to removed but people (myself included, always) can easily forget about the rating on the talk page. WikiProject Ancient Egypt usually uses Stub, Start, and B classes. Not sure why but we don't really use C class often. B class is the highest something can go without going through peer review like the Good Article process. When I'm waiting for assessments I often change the quality rating to "Start" because they were Stubs before. Feel free to assess it in its current form if you want! Let me know how you think it is measuring up! I usually put articles through for reassessment when I'm done expanding them so they can go as a "finished product". ^_^ I usually work solo on obscureish, low trafficked pages so you gave me a little scare like eeek its not done yet! @ o @ Merytat3n (talk) 02:22, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for noticing! I had done a little work on the page by adding a full gallery, since you uploaded quite a lot of images and very few of them had been added. I'd say it's a B-class article based on the current material presented, and perhaps it could even be sent in for peer review for Good Article-status once you're done with the section on the sarcophagi since it's turned out rather well. I put in C-class since I knew about a few dozen C-class articles existing, and wasn't sure if B-class really fit. Star11308 (talk) 02:43, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's nice to know there is a second set of eyes on the page, it's hard when its just me! Feel free to put it as C class - you can always reassess it later : ) I'm glad you think it would be worth putting it through for GA when its done! Please let me know your thoughts on the page as we go along Merytat3n (talk) 21:48, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

[edit]

Our "friend" is back but please note you are on 3 reverts. I will revert these too and report the IP, but if you are tempted to revert again, please take a look at the 3RR rule and invoke "ban evasion" or else an unhelpfully bureaucratic admin might decide to give you a page ban. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:50, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't see this until I had already published my fourth revert, thanks though. Star11308 (talk) 09:54, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have reported the IP for edit warring now. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:82.110.147.29 reported by User:Sirfurboy (Result: ). I have also added a "ban evasion" edsum so admins will see this.
Probably best to let it wait a little while now until the IP is banned. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:58, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding Horus article

[edit]

Hello there. Sorry to bother you but may I seek your opinion please? I noticed some confusion regarding the often merged together but still distinct identities of Horus, Heru (or Haroeris) and Ur (or Wer) that are all mashed together under one subjects article. What are your thoughts on separating them and adding the information for each deity to its own corresponding article please? 2A00:23EE:1398:1669:129:EFB8:FA4B:4B99 (talk) 15:06, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I believe the confusion is on your part. Heru is the sort of "base form" of Horus (the Greek spelling) and an alternative Egyptological spelling of his name from Hor, which is the Coptic spelling. Ur/Wer is the epithet added to the name when distinguishing Heru/Horus from Horus the Elder, with the epithet of "Ur" originating from a lesser deity's name and translating to "the Great" or "the Elder". While I could see Horus the Elder being reasonably split off into its own article like Harpocrates was, the other forms and epithets don't really have much enough substantial information to really have their own articles. I would recommend sending a message to someone a bit higher-up and more experienced in the Wikiproject for more input, with User:A. Parrot being by best recommendation. Stop removing sourced information to get one up

[edit]

Stop being so petty and grow up 109.159.187.210 (talk) 18:06, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The information you keep trying to add is not cited to a reliable source, and was added years ago without a source without anyone noticing. It was then written about on that painter's site, thus you're circularly sourcing it. Star11308 (talk) 18:53, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
