when is an edit request not an edit request

[edit]

Hello there, I do acknowledge that my edit request required many characters, but I would kindly ask that you fully read a talk page topic before deleting it. Especially if your justification for deleting it is that it is not in the format of an edit request. I clearly expressed "please change x to y." Thank you for demonstrating a commitment to WP and I hope you have a good rest of your day. Mikewem (talk) 17:22, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikewem You must use WP:EDITREQUEST format and template. And any edit request that is that long is more a discussion.
Continued participation in WP:ARBECR areas like this could get admin attention, and from my own experience (see the warnings above on my own talk page), they will immediately sanction offending users given a chance. They take very tough lines on this topic area. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 17:26, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am confident that this edit request conforms to WP guidelines, I disagree with your statement about length. Please do not disruptively edit or I may refer your actions to admin. Mikewem (talk) 17:29, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Signature formatting

[edit]

Hi Bluethricecreamman. Sorry I had to fix some of the formatting related to your comments in WP:RSN#CNN. I'm not sure what happened but you signature ended up on an un-indented newline, which broke formatting and the reply function. If I got anything wrong please feel free to trout me. -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 17:17, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

nah... I was gonna do so too, but then everyone's formatting went weird and i gave up
thanks for fixing it. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 17:18, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You forgot to sign

[edit]

Just friendly note, you forgot to sign Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#RFC:_Should_grey_literature_from_advocacy_groups_and_other_similar_orgs_always_be_considered_WP:SPS_and_therefore_subject_to_WP:BLPSPS? - I just marked the missing signature for you, feel free to replace it by your real signature if you'd like. Raladic (talk) 02:59, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

oops. TY. I went ahead and actually signed. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 03:01, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've never created an RfC, but doesn't your signature need to be placed after the two options? Right now, the options don't show up at RfC PaG. FactOrOpinion (talk) 03:40, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That page listing is based on Legobot assigning an invisible ID for the RFC and then crossposting it. The point of the listing there is to notify people of an ongoing discussion, it doesn't need to have the whole content there. Raladic (talk) 04:01, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the churn

[edit]

Hey, apologies for the brief churn in my thought process on the RfC. As I thought a bit more about it, I saw the conundrum with removing the second sentence in the applicability of the policy refinement. Raladic (talk) 07:17, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

np. its a wickedly hard question to constrain. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 07:41, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting/censoring edit requests

[edit]

I provided a detailed edit request on the "pallywood" page with sources. I didn't get a reply, but you appear to have simply removed my suggestions.

Why? And what can I do to influence that article when it demonstrates inaccuracies? KikoBit (talk) 02:20, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

was not paying attention and made a mistake. My bad, I'll revert. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 04:03, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@KikoBit@Bluethricecreamman I see that at least the first edit request was not a proper one but a discussion of the article, and thus removed properly. Doug Weller talk 09:50, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the difference between a malformed long edit request and foruming remains difficult sometimes, and i thought to give the benefit of the doubt Bluethricecreamman (talk) 13:44, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Bluethricecreamman. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "2024 University of Pennsylvania pro-Palestine Encampment".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 22:33, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:26, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks re BLP

[edit]

Greetings and thank you for the revert you did at Talk:Imane Khelif. Just to let you know, things like that are worth at least asking someone about revdel. I went ahead and did that, and I was lucky that the admin who last revdeled here (for the exact same content) happened to be logged in and watching. It didn't even take another BLPN post. So thanks again for reverting the unacceptable TP post. And please don't hesitate to reach out to anyone with revdel rights when things get this bad. That's what our dear jannies are there for! Cheers! JFHJr () 00:34, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
