DYK nomination of Ravindra Dave

Hello! Your submission of Ravindra Dave at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! BlueMoonset (talk) 04:15, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Nizil Shah, if you haven't done so already, based on the comment on the review I strongly recommend that you request a copy edit from the Guild of Copy Editors at WP:GOCER. It takes them three to four weeks to get around to a copy edit, but if you get your request in before the end of the month, it's more likely to be handled during the Guild's July editing drive. Best of luck! BlueMoonset (talk) 21:10, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: Thanks. Requested at GOCE. I had asked an editor for copyediting but he is no longer active.-Nizil (talk) 05:31, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

Wikiproject Medicine

Welcome to Wikipedia from the Medicine WikiProject!

Welcome to Wikipedia and WikiProject Medicine

Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine (also known as WPMED).

We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of medical articles here on Wikipedia. I noticed that you are interested in editing medical articles; it's great to have a new editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing Wikipedia articles are:

  • Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on our talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the WPMED talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • Sourcing of medical and health-related content on Wikipedia is guided by our medical sourcing guidelines, commonly referred to as MEDRS. These guidelines typically require recent secondary sources to support information; their application is further explained here. Primary sources (case studies, case reports, research studies) are rarely used, especially if the primary sources are produced by the organisation or individual who is promoting a claim.
  • The Wikipedia community includes a wide variety of editors with different interests, skills, and knowledge. We all manage to get along through a lot of discussion that happens under the scenes and through the bold, revert, discuss editing cycle. If you encounter any problems, you can discuss them on an article's talk page or post a message on the WPMED talk page.

Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. I wish you all the best on your wiki voyages!

Here is an overview. Generally, we're looking for textbook references, Cochrane reviews, meta-analysis, and concensus statements. Simple published articles are generally not enough. If you have the capacity to translate, that is also a major need of the medicine project. Ian Furst (talk) 17:40, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Can you help me in fighting against Vandalism by user?

Hello,

I had made the page 2019 Delhi Temple attack by adding relevant details, accusations and allegations. But one user is constantly removing the cited references by allowing reason that they are communal terms, propaganda websites, hate websites and what not!

I have tried to sort out dispute here but that person is undoing all of my edits.= without even citing proper wikipedia policies and even logical reasons. Here are some of the vandalism that user Edward Zigma had done on the page:-

1. Reason given is hate website. But there wasn't any hate content on any of the website given in the reference.
2. Here editor has gave reason that reafrain from using the communal words. Just mentioning that mob was Muslim; the person got triggered and he is removing content without even mentioning wikipedia policy.
3. Again this person did the same thing and copy pasted the reason without citation of Wiki policy.
4. Again same thing.
5. Same thing.
6. Same thing.
7. same thing.
8. The person is saying that using word Muslim is like to use racial slur without citing Wikipedia policy.
9. Same thing.
10. DOing personal attacks on other editors by citing that websites are right leaned.
11. Again labeling the genuine sources as propaganda websites.

I request you to visit the history of the page I mentioned and talk page. This person is not giving any proper reason or citation from any wikipedia policy; when I cite policy then also person is removing my content just because he doesn't like it. Person is only giving hyperbolic statements and doxxing me by messaging on my Twitter ID. I have joined Wiki before 4 years and made more than 100 edits but this never happened with me. He doesn't believe in NPOV, No original research and verifiability. Kindly, take proper action on him for vandalising the article.

PS:- I am Gujarati hailing from your city Ahmedabad. I remember you dropped message o my talk page.

--Harshil169 (talk) 04:47, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

@Harshil169:, thanks for reaching out to me. Few things to do: leave Swarajya and OpIndia sources for now which is not well accepted by other editors. These sources are disputed before. Go for other sources like Zee News, Times of India, The Hindu and many others/international newspapers and expand the article with these sources. The article can be better with other sources as well. Then go to WT:INB and start an new topic on the reliability of Swarajya and OpIndia and also post the link of the discussion on the Talkpage of the article. The other editors will opine on the reliability. Do not engage in edit war or revert war. Stay focused on the improving article and do not hurry/worry if something is not sorted out/left unsolved right now. I will be keeping the eye on the article.-Nizil (talk) 05:14, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
@Nizil Shah: I got your point and will not do it. But the person is saying that using words like Muslim and Hindu are used for inciting hatred and he removed every single word. Like, you know that in page of 2002 Gujarat Riots, there’re clear mentioning of Hindu and Muslims. Then how it can become communally hatred? I cited Wikipedia:Wikihate policy but person isn’t ready for understanding. Can you edit the page by using the relevant words when theyre required? Because without mentioning of communities, page seems a big hole for information. Also, Person is after me and reverting every edits which I make. I’m facing doxxing by him on Twitter.
@Harshil169:, don't worry about it. The Hindu/Muslim words will be included later when there is some calm down and things sorted out. Currently both references cited do not mention any groups so we better leave it to readers to understand themselves. Revert warring will not help. I had pinged you in a deletion discussion comment. Please go through it. In my opinion, the article lacks notability in long run and will not have any long term impact. After a week or so, there will be no coverage of the event if there is no escalation of the event. Such events (minor communal clashes and place of worship vandalism) frequently happen and should be considered as regular crime events. Encyclopedic value of the event should be considered, not news value. Even if the article is kept right now, it might be deleted in future due to failing notability, in my opinion.-Nizil (talk) 06:17, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
@Nizil Shah: I understood point and will add relevant details on time to time. On a side note, there is not any page dedicating famous Rath Yatra of Ahmedabad. Do you think as an amdavadis, should we make it? It is notable and encyclopedic event. Should we make it together?
@Harshil169:, please do not forget to sign the comments. :) Ratha Yatra (Puri) is there (not in very good state) for an inspiration. Currently Rath yatra is covered in Jagannath Temple, Ahmedabad. We can have separate article but need good amount of sources (Gujarati news articles about rathyatra history and details can be helpful). We have few images of Ahmedabad Rathyatra and you may provide more if you can. You can go ahead with expanding the section in temple article and I will help improve it. If we can expand it large enough, we will create an offshoot article from it. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 07:39, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
Few sources to start with [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 07:50, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
I am making the page. Keep your eyes on it and add the things which you feel necessary. I hope we will give gift to Lord Jagannath by creating page by tomorrow. :) --Harshil169 (talk) 13:30, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Here is the half made page by me. Kindly look and provide your inputs. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Harshil169 (talkcontribs) 03:15, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

The above is excellent advice, in relation to the Hauz Qazi clash. Thanks, Nizil. —PaleoNeonate16:18, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

@Winged Blades of Godric:, Rath Yatra article is about a Hindu ritual. Jagannath Temple is a very different topic. The temple is widely covered and information on its history and rituals (including Rath Yatra) is available in sources. The temple itself is a popular place in Ahmedabad city and we have enough sources to have a separate article. The Rath Yatra event associated with the temple is a major local event (with holiday) and is covered in the article (expansion and improvement is planned). Merging temple article in a ritual article is like merging some church article in Christmas article: it is a bad merge. So separate article is OK in my opinion.-Nizil (talk) 14:41, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
@Harshil169:, have created draft for Rathyatra?-Nizil (talk) 14:17, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
@Nizil Shah:, already separate article was created on the same day with adding rituals of 15 days and some details. Some improvements like communal riots, during British Raj and politics should be added later when we find sources. Rath_yatra_(Ahmedabad)
@Harshil169:, you forgot to sign. The article is not very good. I think you should have created it in draft first. I would have improved it further and we would have published it later. Anyaway I will improve it later/or/move it to draft. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 14:52, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
@Nizil Shah: I don’t know how to create draft; I searched but didn’t find useful guide, hence, I had to publish the article. —Harshil169 (talk) 15:05, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
@Harshil169: When you create article, create with Draft:ArticleName. It will create Draft article. e.g. Draft:Rath yatra (Ahmedabad) Draft serves as incubation space before publication and do not risk deletion for incompleteness. It is also good place for incomplete articles and co-working on one article. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 15:21, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

--hardhrol 15:21, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Very interesting article...I had not heard of that. Thanks :). I'll keep a watch on salt and edit when confident of facts. On another note, someone preceded this with Pandit. Is that corrrect? Gandhi is not preceded by Mahatma. Whispyhistory (talk) 10:38, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
@Whispyhistory: J. Nehru is known with his honorific Pandit so that is OK. Mahatma is honorific but Mahatma Gandhi is never referred as Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi. So M. K. Gandhi is OK.-Nizil (talk) 11:04, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

DYK nomination

Hi, Can you nominate Asamardhuni Jivayatra (my new article) for DYK, as I am not good at QPQ. The hook should be : 'that Asamardhuni Jivayatra by Tripuraneni Gopichand is regarded as the first psychological novel in Telugu.' Also requested on GOCE for copy-editing. Thanks. --Gazal world (talk) 21:24, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

Help needed for Baroda Group page

Hello Mr. Nizil, I want your help. Ajaykumar Parmar (talk) 08:11, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

-Nizil (talk) 06:19, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
Ajaykumar Parmar (talk) 13:19, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
For Rekha Rodwittiya, even if she was born in 1958, she could be a member of the group later in 1970s. The group was dynamic and long running so member keep joining and leaving (according to my understanding). The article mentions some prominent artists, not founding members. Was she a late member in 1970s? This needs investigation with references. Don't worry, we are going to rewrite it completely.-Nizil (talk) 14:55, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

Template:Infobox Tirthankara Hi, I just translated the template probably created by User:जैन on Hindi Wikipedia in English. As current template is not accurate enough for Tirthankara articles. It's here : Template:Infobox Tirthankara. Please review it and eliminate possible mistakes in it. Thank you Rishabh.rsd (talk) 08:40, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

@Rishabh.rsd: The current template is good enough in my opinion. The infobox deity covers all types of deity. So there is no need to have exclusive template for few article. Rather request to add missing parameters in current template on its talkpage. Also note that Wikipedia readers come from all over the world so Chyavan, Ganadhara would not make sense to them. We should rather focus basic information which is covered in the current template. Feel free to ask more. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 13:14, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Proposal for Urdu-Gujarati Collaboration

Greeting from Urdu Wikipedia!

I profoundly recall your barnstar in recognition of my write-ups on famous Gujarati novels on Urdu Wikipedia.

Urdu Wikimedia is perhaps the only Indian language Wikimedia Project to host three consecutive foreign collaboration projects so far:

These are in addition to active participation in Tiger editathon 2018, Wikipedia Asian Month and many such activities where the community has actively participated.

We now would like to now collaborate with Indian languages and would like to start with Gujarati. We look for your response and the inclusion of a few other Gujarati friends to discuss the collaboration and plan for the proposed project. Thank you --Muzammil (talk) 16:49, 10 August 2019 (UTC)

@Hindustanilanguage: That's great. So, what is the first step? (creation of a list?) I really want to work on some important Urdu writers. --Gazal world (talk) 17:45, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
Well, that is good proposal. So what should we do? @KartikMistry: have a look.-Nizil (talk) 04:54, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
Dear @Nizil Shah, Gazal world, and KartikMistry:, glad to hear positive from your side. You can refer to User:Hindustanilanguage/Lists/List of Urdu-related articles or Urdu-Ukrainian Community Collaboration for a possible list of articles. We'll have to construct a project page on Meta. We'll write articles on Gujarati poets, writers, great literary works, dramas, folk songs, etc, based on any list provided by you. Contributors can write new articles or add content to existing articles. In about a month, both sides should write at least 15 articles of size 3000 bytes each - new or added content to existing articles. --Muzammil (talk) 05:26, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
@Hindustanilanguage:, thanks. So it is like translating English article related to Urdu in Gujarati by us and English articles related to Gujarati in Urdu by Urdu Wikipedians. Am I right? That makes sense, as I can not read Urdu. We can do this. Kartik Mistry is busy for sometime. So he might join the discussion in few days. @Vijay B. Barot:, thoughts? -Nizil (talk) 05:38, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
@Nizil Shah:, it's a good initiative. It will enrich both the languages. I am ready to give my possible contribution.Thank you.--Vijay B. Barot (talk) 13:48, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
Hope we can move forward with our project next month since Kartik is busy right now. In the meanwhile I will contact you again in a few days with the project page construction. --Muzammil (talk) 17:49, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
I think we need to prepare a list of Gujarati language related articles which need to be translated. @Gazal world: -Nizil (talk) 04:47, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
Has the list been worked out? --Muzammil (talk) 21:31, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for late reply. @Gazal world:, let do it now. We should be doing it early.-Nizil (talk) 12:25, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

@Nizil Shah: @Hindustanilanguage: Hello. Please see, Project Tiger 2.0 list for Urdu language. I have created list of notable writers and books of (each era of) Gujarati literature. Feel free to make changes. I do not emphasize on 'Contemporary writers'. So, if you don't find it suitable for Urdu wiki, let it go. Awaiting for Urdu list. --Gazal world (talk) 14:27, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

I want to say one more thing. If you want any resources (like biography of writers from books, magazine, journal, encyclopedia) for writing these article, please feel free to ask me. I will provide all resource (scanned pages). I have access to an amazing library through my university. I have also access to many 'online paywall databases' (like JSTOR). So, I would be able to provide you all type of resources (even for Urdu writers). --Gazal world (talk) 14:32, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
@Gazal world: Thank you. We were anxiously waiting for this reply since a number of days. However, clubbing Tiger editathon and our collaboration might not be a good idea. I suggest carrying forward our collaboration after sometime, separately. However, I leave the community decision on this to some other Wikipedians - they have every right to hold a different opinion and proceed according to their discretion @Faismeen, AaqibAnjum, BukhariSaeed, Obaid Raza, and فرح دیسائی: --Muzammil (talk) 10:27, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
I need biographical resources about Indian scholars of recent past like Maulana Taqi Amini, former Dean Theology department of Aligarh Muslim University. Moreover, I agree with the opinion of Muzammil about clubbing Tiger editathon and our collaboration.Aafiii (talk) 11:10, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
I also think that two projects should not be clubbed. I have added some Gujarati language related topics to the list. -Nizil (talk) 04:52, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Notice of Neutral point of view noticeboard discussion

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Criticism of Swaminarayan sect. The discussion is about the topic Criticism of Swaminarayan sect. Thank you. Moksha88 (talk) 04:25, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Can you review and CE this article?

I made article on Meshwo. Can you review and CE this article and if possible the can you connect with it wikidata as Gujarati article is also available? Harshil want to talk? 04:54, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Your comment is required

You might know that some of the followers of sect is doing disruptive editing in Talk:Criticism of Swaminarayan sect. They are arguing that opinion of Mahatma Gandhi’s not notable, site of BAPS says something else for Mahatma and thus, it should not be included under WP:NOTOPINION. In the same way, they want to remove criticism of Swami Dayananda and want to add justification from the william’s book. When I talked about directly quoting from Satyarth Prakash then they said it’s WP:OR and you can’t do that. When I added criticism of Sahajananda about supportive of caste system then they did their original research and now, wants to be included in article. Their primary concern seems to be removing criticism of their sect or adding justification of it. And most of them are inexperienced editors. I cited WP:Criticism to let them know how criticism section and article is written and they’re intractable. Comment on multiple issues of talk page, they’re distracting me for adding new work. They start topic under some random policy and stop it under completely another policy. — Harshil want to talk? 05:01, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

I will look into it.-Nizil (talk) 14:24, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
@Harshil169: The article improvement is going in right direction. Dayananda and Mahatma Gandhi criticism sections seem settled properly. The page is now protected so there will be less disturbance.-Nizil (talk) 05:07, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
@Harshil169: The caste and Dayananda criticism are going in right direction. Others are citing/reading scholarly works and texts properly. NPOV Noticeboard discussion will be in favour of other who are right in their conduct. The notice also triggered "Criticism of..." pages in general there. The separate article may got deleted/merged as well if others editors see it unnecessary fork. You should focus more on content and should consider reading sources more closely. I request you to drop the stick and back slowly away from the horse carcass or just drop it. I will be good for you. It's not the end of the world btw. I advice you to keep an eye on improvement of criticism article and use your energy+time to create/improve other articles of non-controversial things like you did with Meshwo river. Cheers,-Nizil (talk) 07:51, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pyaar ki Pungi (2nd nomination)

Hi Nizil, This comment is being made in response to your comment on the AfD. I chose to take it here, as it is a general discussion on AfD and not necessarily on Pungi song. First of all thanks a lot for providing some fresh perspective on the stagnant AfD. At AfD we are discussing whether the article deserves its own seperate page ? our primary and most fundamental question is notability. Is the topic notable on its own ? does it have WP:SIGCOV sources. This has to be answered by the participant first. Once the notability question is answered along with justified reasoning with links/urls/policies. Once notability is addressed and the person commenting thinks a separate page is not warranted then we think whether it makes sense to include the content in a parent article with a redirect, or to delete it altogether. I believe the article has enough coverage that proves it passes our charts criteria and WP:GNG to have its own page. Others may have different opinion but a justification must be given.

In your comment, you seem to have straightaway dived into Q2, without discussing the Q1 of individual notability for a standalone article and why individual notability is lacking in the sources that I had presented on the AfD.

regarding the CHARTS I had started a thread at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film/Indian_cinema_task_force#Charts_for_Indian_Film_songs but no one commented there yet. perhaps I need to drop a note on the parent WP talk pages. --DBigXray 08:24, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

@Gazal world: Haha, too many things on hand. I just issued Thoda Ansu Thoda Phool from library to read. I am interested in creating the article on it but only after I have completed all the tasks on my hand (a long list). The life is going to be bit busy in coming months as exams are approaching. Same situation is here. I too have a long list of articles and have no time. I am going to create an article on "Manilal Nabhubhai : Jivanrang" a critical biography by Dhirubhai Thaker. I found 2 - 3 good references for it. --Gazal world (talk) 14:24, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
@Gazal world: Yeh. Too many things to do, too little time. Priority keeps changing. -Nizil (talk) 14:50, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Can you review this article?

I created new article regarding one book and that is here:The Difficulty of Being Good: On the Subtle Art of Dharma. Can you please review the article and add it to wikiprojects using rater? -- Harshil want to talk? 07:01, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Rambha Gandhi

On 20 October 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Rambha Gandhi, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Gujarati writer Rambha Gandhi wrote and participated in more than 400 radio plays? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Rambha Gandhi. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Rambha Gandhi), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Emasse AfD of Indian Villages

I would suggest you to withdraw Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Agol as a blatant violation of WP:GEOLAND. --DBigXray 16:05, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

@DBigXray:, these are not villages but neighborhoods of Ahmedabad. And there are no references or encyclopedic info. Some of them are very small neighborhoods. So I found them without any purpose there. So AfD. -Nizil (talk) 16:50, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
