Kowalski
I moved the disambiguation page as part of a two-part move I had planned. The supercentenarian Kowalski is most certainly the primary article. I don't think that the priest even meets our notability standards, and I say that as one of the project's most ardent inclusionists. (His beatification may have eked him by had it been done by anyone other than Wojtyla, who beatified more people than all the Popes who came before him combined.) In any case, a hat-note at the supercentenarian's article would have been the proper way to handle this. I moved "Józef Kowalski" to "Józef Kowalski (disambiguation)", while planning to move "Józef Kowalski (uhlan)" to Józef Kowalski". Apparently, we mortals can't perform such moves as the latter. This request seems straightforward and uncontroversial, so I hope you're willing to complete it for me. Joefromrandb (talk) 04:33, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Women in the military
Hi Neelix, I've just moved this article back to Women in the military. This wording doesn't imply that this is only referring to a single military force (articles like Women in the Australian military do that with clearly specific titles), and I don't think that Women in militaries is good gramatically. Per WP:BRD, could you please start a discussion if you think that the article's long standing title should be changed? Regards, Nick-D (talk) 10:33, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Nick,
- Thanks for contacting me on this issue. What grammatical issue do you have with the title "Women in militaries"? It is interesting that your concern is grammatical; that is exactly my concern with the title "Women in the military", namely that it is improper grammar to simultaneously refer to multiple militaries as "the military". You also said that you oppose the title "Military women" because that phrase refers to something other than the subject of the article. I am unfamiliar with this distinction and I would be grateful if you could clarify. I appreciate your willingness to engage with me on this subject.
- Neelix (talk) 20:32, 31 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, I don't think that 'Women in the military' would be seen as national-specific given that Wikipedia is an international encyclopaedia (eg, 'Men in the construction industry' wouldn't be seen as specific to any nation or type of business). 'Military women' could include women who have some relationship with a military force, but are not actually part of such a force, which isn't the topic of the article (eg, this could include the partner of a member of the military, civilian contractors or 'camp followers' given that such women have some kind of meaningful relationship with a military force but aren't a member of the force). I hope that this is OK. Happy to discuss further on the article's talk page. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 10:59, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Special request for TFL
Hi Neelix. Since you have contributed so many blurbs for TFL, I wanted to put in a request with you for a future TFL blurb. The World Cup is about to start, and I think it would be great if we had a related TFL to run sometime around the final weekend. List of FIFA World Cup finals is an FL, and looks like it would be a list of high relevance that has the potential to be one of the most-viewed TFLs ever. Do you think this is a good idea? Could you please revert these disruptive changes? It would have been good to discuss this first. WP:NCDAB suggests nothing inappropriate about the original title. It’s not a good change. Any use of an orthographic projection results in a “map” according to several branches of mathematics, but that “map” does not necessarily mean a cartographic map in any recognizable sense. Hey! Neelix, I want to say that I wNted her article to appear on the main page on her birthday (18 july). Since, i was not able to do the same with the main article of hers. Please, understand this year her birthday is colliding with the available slot of main page. I think, if no this year, then i dont think i would be able to do until next 7-8 years. As, it depends on available dates and her birthday collising on same date. Pls understand.—Prashant 02:55, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed
Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.
It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. If you're interested in helping out, please drop a note in the next week at my talk page or shoot me an email at: jorlowitzgmail.com. OA for Writing Course?
Hi Neelix! I am looking for two online ambassadors to help with a course I'm teaching in the Education program. More specifically, I'm hoping to find a few ambassadors who can review student proposals for possible edits and sources from July 25th to July 30 and then review article drafts from July 30 to August 11. I'm working on putting the full schedule up on the course page but those would be the main duties of the ambassadors involved. Think you'd be interested? Frogs disambiguation and redirect pages
I noticed that you have recently created a bunch of frog disambiguation pages. Please be aware that template:Refer should always be substituted, i.e. use {{subst:Refer}}. Also, it's useful to list the species name in italics for each species listed. Cheers! —Anomalocaris (talk) 19:21, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anomalocaris,
- Thank you for contacting me on this issue. I notice from the Refer template talk page that Rich Farmbrough objected to the template being substituted earlier this month, and I tend to agree with him; I don't see a reason to substitute this template. Has there been a discussion on this subject, or a guideline that has been written? As far as I can tell, not substituting the template facilitates consistent formatting among disambiguation pages. I would be glad to hear why you think it should be substituted.
- I do not understand Rich Farmbrough's point, but whatever it is, he is the only one who has spoken up for it. On page Template:refer, it says:
- This template should always be substituted, i.e. use {{subst:Refer}}.
- Most of the time, there are no Pages that link to "Template:refer" in namespace "Wikipedia"
- and this is presumably because there are Wikipedia editors who routinely change all uses of {{refer}} to {{subst:refer}} in the article namespace. If you have more to say on this, please reply here to keep the conversation in one palace. —Anomalocaris (talk) 20:05, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- Unless there is good reason to substitute the template or there has been a discussion where the community has come together and made a decision on this point, I would recommend removing that statement from the template. The talk page does not evince reasons for substituting nor a consensus-achieving discussion. I see no benefit and only detriment to substituting this template. Neelix (talk) 20:10, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- If you think so, take it to Template talk:Refer. Good luck! —Anomalocaris (talk) 20:38, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

volcanic eruption dinosaur image
Hello, I have some time to start thinking about this image, but need your input. Anything you can tell me about would be helpful, but I can start with some questions.
- Are we going for hyper/photorealistic or more illustrative?
- Do you want dino corpses?
- Do you want a more panoramic perspective, with eruptions in the distance, or something more local, like stifling closeness of a dying forest?
Anything you can share about the vision would be perfect. de Bivort 20:52, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. I think I have an idea of what you want. Can you give me some technical details on the eruption itself? Was it a series of fissures? If so, any estimate on their count or density? I.e were they distributed broadly or tightly concentrated? Should I imagine something like an intensified Laki eruption, or something more like all the volcanoes in the Cascades erupting simultaneously? de Bivort 22:18, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- Another question - the eruptions evidently occurred over tens of thousands of years. At any one time, how many eruptions would be visible from a nice vantage point? de Bivort 00:48, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi - thanks for the ping. I'm busier than I expected, but have had a little time to work on it. I'm starting by compositing the landscape, will add specific fissures, lava floes and maybe a large volcano or two, followed by vegetation and then dead dinosaurs. but this is the start. [1]. component images are from Iceland, naturally. de Bivort 16:29, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yep life is catching up with me, and is likely to do so for a while. (start of the academic year). I'm happy to relinquish my role, or hand off my image if someone else wanted to use it as a backdrop. I would still enjoy completing this, but I probably shouldn't guarantee any timelines. de Bivort 19:21, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
- I will get around to it, and enjoy it ... eventually. You could post to the image review thread and find volunteers, though most people make images of dinosaurs against empty backgrounds, rather than scenes. de Bivort 19:32, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Need for disambiguation on Belden Inc.
I disagree with your opinion that Belden Inc. needs disambiguation. Belden Inc. is the unique, legal name of the company. If it were say Belden (company) I would agree. Belden Brick Company does not even use incorporated as part of there name, if they did that would be a minor point of confusion. In my opinion it is near impossible that someone linking to Belden Inc. intended to get Belden Brick Company.--Svgalbertian (talk) 14:15, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Tunnel Railway
I've removed the image from the lead and TFA blurb of Tunnel Railway; since the whole point of the article running now is to mark the re-opening of the tunnels, it's too confusing to have a lead image (let alone a TFA main page image) that shows the tunnels as sealed and derelict. If I get the chance, I'll nip along the coast and get a picture of the things as they look now, but not making any promises. – iridescent 2 09:44, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

What do you think of the Masters of the Universe?
I have crudely starting splitting articles as I don't know the correct manner in which to do it. I very much respect your opinion what do you think of these articles Snake Face (fictional character), Roboto (character),Shadow Weaver (character),Stinkor (character),Moss-Man,Ram-Man (character),Man E Faces,King Hssss I split them as I believed they now have enough sources to be legitimate solo articles. If you think they should be merged to List of Masters of the Universe characters by all means do it. But could show me how to merge and split articles so I don't make these mistakes in the future. I tried reading about splitting I am too easily confused I think I will wait for someone to split and add the sources and sentences. Dwanyewest (talk) 03:58, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- If you think I added enough content for can you separate some of the articles. Dwanyewest (talk) 20:50, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
OK I will work towards improving the list as stated then. Dwanyewest (talk) 21:23, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

I think the best way to deal with the Humphry Morices would be to make Humphry Morice into a disambiguation page; we could bluelink the younger Humphry's entry to his office as Lord Warden of the Stannaries until his article is written. I appreciate your pointing out the consequences of having no article there on search, which I had completely overlooked. However, at our distance, I think both men are somewhat obscure early Georgian MPs, and there is no mark of distinction strong enough to make one the primary topic. Pointing Humphry Morice at the first one, I think, runs the risk both of confusing readers looking up the son and reaching the father, and creating erroneous links to the father because compilers of lists didn't realize the name was not unique.
I appreciate the spirit of the disambiguation guideline you point at, but I think following it to the letter can do more harm than good for MPs. They're a discrete set of individuals, limited in number, readily sourced to the History of Parliament Online, of scholarly interest—this isn't a proliferation of redlinks to someone's not-really-notable neighbor. Take a look at all the incoming links to, say, the different Peregrine Berties, and imagine trying to have to sort all the remaining links out every time a new article on one of them was written. - Oh, thank you! That's more than enough; I was going to create the disambiguation but wanted to make sure you were OK with it. Choess (talk) 20:58, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Salvation Army in Movies
Thanks for the list of the Salvation Army's apprearances in movies which I found very helpful! You mention though that the Salvation Army never wear/wore Santa costumes. I believe this might not be entirely true as you can see e.g. on this picture: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1931-Press-Photo-Salvation-Army-Christmas-Drive-Louis-Roauer-Santa-Claus-/390939480838?pt=Art_Photo_Images&hash=item5b05cf1306 Also, if you do a google search for "salvation army bell ringers" you will find lots of pictures of Salvation Army volunteers wearing different costumes. I don't want to come across as mean, but you did take a sizeable chunk of my own work and use it to pad out what is essentially a piece on far future events as described in religion. You also appear to not want to expand that section any further, which is odd, because there are plenty of far future events described in many religions: the kalpa, mahayuga and the lifetime of Brahma in Hindu mythology; the Mayan glyph at Koba that describes a date octillions of years in the future, and those are just the ones off the top of my head. If you really feel this topic has been neglected I suggest you make a go of it; don't just rely on the work of other people to do it for you. Ideally, Far future could be a disambig with the three aspects (science, fiction and religion) mentioned in their own articles. Serendipodous 14:08, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
