User talk:Muffin Man 23
I'm Riana, and I noticed that you're new, so I thought I'd drop you a note. We do have a lot of users, and are currently working on 6,923,660 articles, so things can be a little intimidating... but don't worry! We love to help out, and we'll try our best to make your stay here as comfortable as possible.
Here are a few links I found useful when I first arrived here:-
You should sign your name on talk pages, discussions and votes by typing ~~~~

I know it's a lot of information, but there are two more things I recommend you take note of while editing Wikipedia - cite references wherever possible, and avoid allowing personal biases interfere with your editing.
I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian - I definitely do. Although we all make mistakes, please keep in mind what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or problems, leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll try my best to help. Otherwise, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}

We hope you stick around, and make sure you enjoy yourself! Cheers, ~ Riana ⁂ 10:25, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Keynsham Town article
[edit]Hi Muffin Man. Take a look at York City F.C., which is a very good article on a non-league football club (albeit a former Football League club). You could add an info box (on the top right hand side), pictures, the current squad, staff and honours at the bottom of the page a la the York City article. If you lay the Keynsham Town article out in a similar way, you can't go far wrong. A problem though with the article, and the priority, is the lack of references to enable a reader to verify what has been written. WP:RS and WP:V will explain. If you can dig out reliable, independent, published sources for what's been written and add them to the article, that would be good. If you need help, just post on the non-league board[1] (as you have done and I see you have some advice already). Good luck! --Malcolmxl5 20:29, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments, but there aren't many third party published sources on a local football club. I will try and find some, and use them whenever possible, but for things like the first team, I think my dad is the most reliable source. Muffin Man 23
- No worries, Muffin Man. You'll be surprised what there is around. Let's see how the article evolves over the next few month. I'll keep an eye on it from time to time. All the best. --Malcolmxl5 23:51, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
I removed management and players because they play at such a low level and are not notable. Number 57 12:46, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- No offence, but you obviously have a WP:COI with the article. Players and managers of such a low level club are definitely not notable unless they have played/managed at a much higher level (i.e. League Two or above). Number 57 15:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I've restored it, good luck with the page, unfortunately you're always going to get people who want to inflict their standards on to others pages. Journey Back To The Darkside 15:21, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Me again. I have been on the website that it appears you have copied and pasted from. Not only is this a possible copyright violation, but this page is old as proved in [2], as it clearly states Season 04/05. There have been changes since then like a new manager and also relegation. Muffin Man 23 19:32, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- What on earth are you talking about? All I did was delete the player and manager information. I suggest you check the edit history a bit more closely next time. Number 57 08:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Squad list
[edit]Whilst obviosuly none of the players are notable in the Wikipedia sense (i.e. having received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject), I don't see a major problem with having the squad list on the page, as long as it can be referenced to a reliable source. ChrisTheDude 09:09, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Quite right as well. Journey Back To The Darkside 13:08, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi MM, I got your message. The content of articles are determined by reference to Wikipedia policy and guidelines and by consensus. As it has been said that the management and players are not notable, WP:NOTE seems to be the relevant guidelines in play here. This however only applies to the subject of the article, e.g. Keynsham Town F.C., and not to the content, i.e. "The particular topics and facts within an article are not each required to meet the standard of the notability guidelines."; see the very last paragraph. I suggest you open a discussion on this to achieve consensus where you can quote WP:NOTE and also point out that other club such as Portishead A.F.C. has player/manager info. Personally, I go along with ChrisTheDude, so long as the info can be verified independently, there's no problem. --Malcolmxl5 07:19, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I think citing the official website for the squad list would be OK. After all, Arsenal F.C. does just that, and that's a featured article..... ChrisTheDude 21:07, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there. The official site is the obvious source so yes. I suggest that when it's up on the site, you ask someone to add it to the article and reference it to the official site to avoid any suggestion of 'conflict of interest', etc. --Malcolmxl5 21:57, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, this doesn't seem like a real user. Perhaps you were trying to so something else, therefore I moved the content from this page to a subpage of yours, User:Muffin Man 23/Believeinuserboxes. Thanks! If you need further help, please don't hesitate to post on my talk page or to put {{helpme}} followed by your question on this page. -- lucasbfr talk 19:57, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Notability of Le tour de Keynsham
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Le tour de Keynsham, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Le tour de Keynsham seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Le tour de Keynsham, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CSDWarnBot 12:02, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Do I smell some slight irony here? ;-)....anyway, that is why it is called speedy deletion....and we don't get payed, we just get a kick out of deleting materiel out of hand, regardless of merit (now, that was irony). So, no, generally speaking it s not of importance if an article is poor (who would decide that, anyway), but, as mentioned above, it was purely the question of notability....if you wish to contest the deltion, you may do so at WP:DRV. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar 08:15, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Keynsham Town F.C.
[edit]Greetings, Muffin Man, how are you keeping? I thought I might take a look at the Keynsham Town F.C. article over the next few weeks and perhaps rewrite some bits as I seem to remember there was some questions over parts being copied from elsewhere. Let me know if you prefer that I didn't do this. All the best now. --Malcolmxl5 23:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message, Muffin Man. I'll start by gathering sources of information in my sandbox so you'll probably see nothing happening to the article for a couple of weeks. If you know of any decent sources - has someone written a book about the football club perhaps? - drop me a line. Good luck with the website. --Malcolmxl5 20:03, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Greetings, Muffin Man. Would you have a look at my sandbox and let me know what you think? --Malcolmxl5 21:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Fair use image in userspace
[edit]You have created a userbox at User:Muffin Man 23/Portal which contains a non-free image, but non-free images are not allowed on user pages. You'll want to remove it. Thanks. --Sopoforic 13:17, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the image from the userbox. EVula // talk // ☯ // 03:50, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
