Thank you for uploading File:Win7-OStan.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 03:23, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambig pages

[edit]

Greetings! Sorry to be very blunt, but you've recently made a very large number of edits that seem to contradict Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). By chance have you discussed these, beforehand? If not, would you be willing to? Given the rate of your edits, prompt response would be appreciated. – Luna Santin (talk) 15:55, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you've stopped editing articles, but I'm sorry to say that your edits are still very rapid and strange. Could you please explain what you're doing? – Luna Santin (talk) 16:02, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And now you seem to have stopped editing, altogether. Given that the scope of your changes is apparently large, and that no explanation for them has been forthcoming from you, I've reverted a number of your recent changes in article space; should it turn out that my reversions have been in error, I will be happy to undo them. Please respond to these messages when you get a chance to. Continued rapid editing from this account, especially without prior discussion and especially in a manner that may be construed as being apparently automated or semi-automated, may result in your account being blocked from editing, either for apparently running an unauthorized bot or for disruptive editing. Again, please accept my apologies for being so blunt; your lack of responsiveness makes handling this somewhat difficult. – Luna Santin (talk) 16:41, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you removing colons from the "may refer to" line of disambiguation pages? -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:03, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Overball requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jhbuk (talk) 11:23, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rubik's cube

[edit]

A few days ago you asked about a last layer solution for a rubik's cube. I noticed no specific answer, so I added this answer:

This site's instructions are good.

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. œ 05:45, 18 March 2010 (UTC) ps. Edit summaries are more important than you may realize! Don't forget to use them![reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Hey man. You might check out our guideline on using "<big>" tags in your signature. AlexHOUSE (talk) 19:16, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please remove the <big> tag from your signature. You're free to customize your signature in other ways, but not by making the text larger. -kotra (talk) 21:16, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Wikipedia:''

[edit]

Wikipedia:'', a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:'' and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:'' during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. mono 20:20, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Propionic vs propanoic

[edit]

Mikespedia, I notice that you've been moving a lot of propionic acid-related pages over to propanoic acid names recently. Personally, I don't have a particular objection to this, though I didn't mind the older name either. However, can I recommend that for such a major change, you first raise the topic on the main article talk pages, and ideally contact the WikiProject at WT:CHEM first? This would ensure that you don't upset lots of people!

In your edit summaries you have said "Propanoic acid is more common and systematic, while propionic acid is old usage and should not be used even if it is how propane is named." Propanoic acid is indeed more systematic, but I have learnt that judgement of "old usage" is very local to particular groups and locations. For example, in the US, propionic acid is the name used by major chemical suppliers (Fisher/Acros, Aldrich, Alfa Aesar and TCI America) - clearly these suppliers consider that their customers use the traditional name. Finally, you say that the name "should not be used" - what source do you have for that? Wikipedia follows the IUPAC system for naming (see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (chemistry)), and IUPAC explicitly allows use of the name propionic acid (see [1]). If this rule has been updated recently, please let me know. You should be aware that several Wikipedia editors are now working with IUPAC to help formalize naming systems more systematically.

On balance, this is one case where most chemists I know are comfortable with either name, so I don't expect any problem, but I think it's best to raise the issue first if you plan any major renames in the future. People can get extraordinarily touchy about their favourite names! Cheers, Walkerma (talk) 03:40, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Argh - sorry, meant to put this on the fluticasone propionate page specifically, I will mention it there also. In addition to the issues concerning IUPAC conventions, I note that fluticasone propionate is the name used by most manufacturers, as well as being essentially the only name currently used in the medical scientific literature. In light of this, I think the insistence on "propanoate" is more confusing than informative. 72.154.230.10 (talk) 05:06, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
