Your request for rollback

[edit]

Hi Mehran. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 21:58, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

refToolbar

[edit]

I think I got it all fixed up for you. To test it, you can add

importScript('مدیاویکی:Gadget-refToolbar.js');

to your vector.js file.

To enable the gadget on the Persian Wikipedia, add

* refToolbar|refToolbar.js

to http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition

Let me know if you have any problems with it. Cheers! Kaldari (talk) 05:52, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately no changes was happened, it's still insert the template code and no boxes shows. Were you able to see this box in fawiki when you tested it? ●Mehran Debate19:12, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it all works correctly for me. There are some minor right-to-left issues in the dialog boxes, but it's usable. Did you clear your browser cache? What browser are you using? Do you have any other gadgets turned on that could be interfering? Kaldari (talk) 20:58, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Right, it had a conflict with another gadget. It seems it works correctly now and just needs a little more translations and some minor changes. I will inform you if there were any other relating problems. I appreciate your help and wish to make amends. ●Mehran Debate19:23, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Glad to hear it is working for you! By the way, you may also need to make sure that the refToolbar config settings match the citation templates that are being used on the Persian Wikipedia. Some wikis have totally different citation templates with different parameters. Cheers! Kaldari (talk) 01:46, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you would like to do me a favor in return, can you add the Persian spelling of 'Zan' to the article Zan (newspaper)? Thanks! Kaldari (talk) 04:56, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of course ;) ●Mehran Debate16:01, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

hi mehran,

I hope you are well. I have heard that you have proposed for the Amin Collection factual article to be deleted. I am slightly confused on why this is the case and I was wondering whether you could explain why? I can verify any factual evidence you need.

I hope to hear from you soon,

CSD declined - Bakhtiari Rug

[edit]

Hi Mehran. You palaced a {{db-copyvio}} template on the page Bakhtiari Rug claiming that the text there was copied from this page. I have checked the two pages (via Duplication detector and manually), and I'm afraid I cannot see any clear resemblence between them; I have therefore declined the speedy deletion request. Ahmad Khonsari

[edit]

I was just curious, before I spend time on the citations at the Ahmad Khonsari article, I was wondering why you prodded it? I do note that a little more has been added since you did so. Anyway, you may answer here in your talk space, if that is convenient. Thanks. --Bejnar (talk) 17:34, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I had prodded this version of the article, I really do not see anything on that version which makes him notable! Of course the references are reliable enough, but it doesn't contain any issues which can make him notable. Best wishes ●Mehran Debate18:04, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In general I agree that something other than status is needed for notability, but we've seemed to have lost that argument to consensus that bishops, generals and grand ayatollahs are inherently notable. I assume, though few express it, that they mean that in order to get to that position they have to have done something, even if we don't know what it was. I am reminded of the Gilbert and Sullivan song When I Was A Lad (Ruler of the Queen's Navy). --Bejnar (talk) 22:03, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree with you. "Ayatollah" is a title like "Professor", they both should pass some courses to get their title, professor in scientific fields and ayatollah in Islamic fields. But we have WP:CREATIVE and WP:PROF for the professors and can not say that all the professors are notable because they have to do something to get to their position. May you please show me a guideline which says Ayatollahs are notable? Then I'll agree with you! :) ●Mehran Debate05:04, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrolling

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. Please take a note of the outcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Government Secondary School, North Bank. Do take a moment to read WP:NPP and WP:DELETION, and if you need any help or advice don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Happy patrolling! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:46, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kudpung, Thanks for your attention. I agree with the outcome, but as a matter of fact I think the article is really in conflict with WP:ORG as I explained in the AfD page. I know the users wanted "Keep" by reason of an essay which is conflict with a guideline. Personally I believe that we should not write our comments according to the others' comments, but we should do that under the WP policies and guidelines. Best wishes :) ●Mehran Debate06:25, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kiwix campaign

[edit]

Hi, Mehran.

How about Kiwix visits since the campaign of Wikipedia in Spanish started?

Regards, and happy new year. --invadinado (TALK - SUL) 12:29, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Invadinado, happy new year too
First of all I should appreciate you and the Spanish community about supporting this idea. Luckily there is an unbelievable growing in the Kiwix visits in recent three days. We had approximately 2000 page visits per day before adding the notice in Spanish Wikipedia, but since adding the Spanish notice, this number has been increased to 18000 page visits per day which is really incredible. And more amazing thing is that this number is raising day by day and I guess it will get to 30000 page visits or maybe more. FYI, most of the visits (in order of the visits number) are from Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, USA, Peru and Venezuela. It means that the main current visitors of Kiwix come from Spanish Wikipedia and it likes that the website has been reborn.
I'll be glad if you reflex this data to the Spanish Wikipedia (if there is a discussion about it in current), and tell me everything that you think will help to the project.
Thank you again and best wishes ●Mehran Debate15:50, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HIV/AIDS

[edit]

Hi Doc, I'm going to expand "AIDS" in Persian Wikipedia and probably make it FA. Since there are a few Farsi RS about AIDS, I have to translate the English article with all the citations. But first of all I must ascertain whether the citations are really correct or not, it means that I should check all of the sources and verify its contents.I don't know how I can access to the journals, and most of the references are journals, would you please guide me how to access them? Regards ●MehranDebate14:13, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Let me refer you to User:Ocaasi. He can hopefully help you get access to journal resources. Also have you seen this project Wikipedia:WikiProject_Medicine/Translation_task_force/RTT? A couple of professional translators will be translating HIV/AIDs soon into Farsi if you would like help. By the way we would really love you to join in this effort. Also medscape is not a particularly good source. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 06:00, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Another requirement is paraphrasing. One cannot copy and paste words. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 06:02, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right! I think it would be OK if we remove the second "indoors"? I tried to write a brief sentence from here, I did do paraphrasing as much as I could. Regarding medscape, I saw that in NHS references, I thought they could be reliable if NHS so! ●Mehran Debate06:06, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This bit was word for word from Medscape "In general, Native Americans and Eskimos are more likely to develop the common cold and appear to have higher rates of complications such as otitis media, but it is believed that there are no differences between different races and it may be explained as much by environmental conditions (e.g. poverty and overcrowding) as by ethnicity." Have reworded. Have also edited the weather bit. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 06:08, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'm not very familiar with WP:RSMED, please delete any content you think is unreliable. Actually I'm going to promote the Persian article to FA, I was looking for some English RS and thinking it would be OK if the English one could be FA. :) ●Mehran Debate06:13, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feature – Ebola articles

[edit]
Electron micrograph of an Ebola virus virion

During August we have translated Disease and it is now live in more than 60 different languages! To help us focus on African languages Rubric has donated a large number of articles in languages we haven't previously reached–so a shout out them, and Ian Henderson from Rubric who's joined us here at Wikipedia. We're very happy for our continued collaboration with both Rubric and Translators without Borders!

Just some of our over 60 translations:
New roles and guides!

At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!

New sign up page!

We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!

Style guides for translations

Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.

Custom signature fix needed

[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:10, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
