Blanking your page
[edit]I see you've blanked this page, once again. There's no rule against it, but I was wondering if you'd care to explain why? Clearly, you were perfectly at liberty to decline my request, but I was wondering if you'd like to provide an explanation? Repeatedly blanking your own talk page without responding to other editors is generally frowned upon, as it can imply a certain disregard for their comments. I'd rather appreciate it if you responded to this comment, instead of just removing it. Thanks. — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 02:36, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Fwiw, he did actually follow your request, 3 minutes after you made it. ;) –Quiddity (talk) 03:38, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- I only blanked the page because most if not al li do for wiki is positive, and everything in my talk page was negative, I'm trying to stay away from negative comments because I contribute in a positive fashion. Matthew Smith (talk) 13:37, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- @Quiddity: Oops! Self-TROUT! (Or maybe just self-Minnow?)
- @Matthew: I can quite relate. See here. What I did there was collapse the section (I can show you how to do that, if you'd like) - it shows that I'm not trying to hide anything, but am just trying to put some past ugliness behind me. Of course, I can't really fault you for deleting a request with which you'd already complied, but I find it's a good idea to set fairly strict rules for removing stuff from one's talk page: In my case, except for with obvious vandalism, I almost never remove threads that have been commented on in the past week. The important thing to remember is that you shouldn't feel ashamed of warnings or notices. Everyone gets them sometimes, and they're not supposed to say anything bad about you as an editor. Rather, a warning is supposed to make you aware of a policy or guideline that you might not have previously known about, and help you to not make it in the future. My advice would be to leave this page as it is for now, but, in the future, to not be so quick to delete messages that you think reflect negatively on you; editors see an open book as a sign of good faith, and, just like with magnets, sometimes negative comments attract positive ones. — Francophonie&Androphilie(Je vous invite à me parler) 15:00, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- thank you for the information :)Matthew Smith (talk) 15:04, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Matthew Smith (talk) 19:42, 23 February 2013 (UTC)== Template:AMD graphics ==
I see you've changed the Template:AMD graphics graphics from code names/factory name into product/commercial names. Thats fine, but you also have to change all the names in the template from code names into product names, instead of just a little change on a few of the series. In other words, X1000 Series instead of R500. Or, use just code names as before, with R500 and Southern Islands, instead of X1000 and HD 7000. It's silly to have different naming standards on different articles. Thanks. Jørgen88 (talk) 11:48, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- yes you are correct, plus the architecture name makes more sense anyways since amd used the same architecture in the past for different models. fixed it Matthew Smith (talk) 19:43, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for August 1
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Radeon HD 5000 Series, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CRT (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

font-size
[edit]Hello, I appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, but I don't like your latest edit on Radeon HD 7000 Series. Have you ever thought about visually handicapped persons?
I agree with you, this table is to wide, but there are other solutions: narrowing columns and/or deleting columns (Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a collection of datasheets).
Maybe we should start a discussion about this topic on the article talk page? --DrSeehas (talk) 06:51, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with DrSeehas. I've removed the non-standard font-sizing, for consistency (cross-Wikipedia) and accessibility. Also, bear in mind that many tables are "too wide" on small monitors, laptops, tablets, or etc - Most of the world doesn't have wide-screen monitors, or even large monitors, so wide-tables are a problem that many people are accustomed to dealing with. It's a flaw that is worth overlooking, given the benefits of tabular data. HTH. –Quiddity (talk) 19:57, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
The article Radeon HD 8000 Series has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This card series never came out, it went from 7000 series to R9 200 series.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cky2250 (talk) 13:28, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Acid3 3.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Acid3 3.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:44, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
techPowerUp!
[edit]Are you affiliated with this company in some way? Almost all of your contributions seem to be adding in links to this site, and I'm not really convinced they are appropriate. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 21:12, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, also we display pics of each board, shows more stats, and provide more details, people go to Wikipedia to learn about things, what better than the largest gpu database. Matthew Smith (talk) 22:21, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Since you are affiliated with this company, I suggest you read WP:COI, and stop adding/re-adding links to the website, as it is inappropriate for you to do so - particularly as it is rather doubtful that your database satsifies the external links policy, and your actions are clearly contravening point four of WP:ELNO. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 01:50, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- the database complies with the rules of the external links policy. Matthew Smith (talk) 17:41, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- That is marginal, but you adding the links in unequivocally does not comply with the policy. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 08:28, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
- I have the feeling of COI here as well. Also I just undid your edits to the AMD Radeon 300, 400, 500 and Vega articles, since I don't think they belong there. If at all "your" link would be suitable for "List of ..." articles, which solely focus on the technical details of various GPUs. But then again techPowerUp! is already used (and linked to) in lots of them as a reference. So adding this external link is just unnecessary ... Wikiinger (talk) 19:57, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]The non-official sources were removed by the anonymous editor again. As a result, I semi-protected the article but did not revert the changes. As noted on the article discussion page, I strongly believe Wikipedia prefers journalistic sources in preference to manufacturer sources (primary sources). --Yamla (talk) 12:03, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
