An article you recently created, XHPBPE-FM, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Radio station articles and sourcing
[edit]Hi! I'm Sammi Brie, and I created most of Wikipedia's infrastructure about Mexican radio in the middle of the last decade.
I wanted to explain something that may not be immediately apparent to a new editor: We have too many station articles. A 2021 proceeding tightened the sourcing requirements for radio stations to require significant coverage in reliable sources. This is going to be difficult on two fronts for a lot of Mexican stations:
- One is understandable. There is little newspaper or pre-internet sourcing available for stations that existed prior to 2000. I'm willing to excuse this because in some cases notability comes from age in radio. (This is why I work on American stations for Good and Featured Articles; this paper is much more available.)
- The other is much harder to overcome. Stations created in the last 10 years (e.g. out of IFT-4 or IFT-8) generally will not have quality sourcing. There are, of course, exceptions (XHCSAG-FM), but in my experience, the source quality comes down to some blogs, etc. I've also seen some low-tier news outlets regurgitate stories from others. These are the more clear-cut cases where articles should be switched to redirects.
This is the reason that your drafts are being rejected. It's also a problem affecting US small-market radio and TV stations basically on a rolling basis. The best practice would be to redirect call signs of clearly non-notable stations to the state list. You'll notice some state lists I got around to reformatting (Querétaro is one of these) to remove the "many separate tables" style adapted from the Spanish Wikipedia. The inclusion of name and format lines is partly to make state list redirection a more viable option for Mexican radio stations. The others should adopt this format, too.
If you have questions—in English or Spanish—don't hesitate to reach out on my talk page. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 06:08, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
