Non-free use disputed for Image:Nzwarriorslogo.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Nzwarriorslogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Nswrl 1988.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nswrl 1988.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Grand Final summaries
I have to say, I really like the Grand Final section of the NRL season 2002 article now. To me, it represents the best summary of the big game of all others completed so far. This is because it allows a reader to "re-live" the Grand Final by reading about it as a chronological account of events as they unfolded on the day. I think all other Grand Final summaries should be modelled on this. The 2002 Grand Final section lacks spoilers that are present in other seasons'. The reader is given details exactly as they're presented as if watching the match on the day. First the scene is set with details of the teams involved (although I think this could be enhanced by including the lineups), the ground, the attendance, then the pre-match entertainment, with no indicaion of the result. Then a detailed chronolical account of the match proceedings which eventually lead up to the final result, then post-match details like the Clive Churchill Medal winner.
This formula simply makes for a better reading experience and, in my opinion, a better article. It's for this reason that I've argued in the past against the inclusion of Grand Final details appearing in the Finals table immediately before the Grand Final sub-section (where such sub-sections exist). Although I know it's probably impossible to remove any spoilers altogether from season articles (mainly due to the season infobox), I think we should try our best to avoid them where practical. Other articles mention the game's result in the first sentence of the Grand Final summary before launching into a description of the match proceedings.
This isn't a request for any kind of action. But I'd be pleased if editors of rugby league articles would keep all of this in mind when writing Grand Final sections.--Jeff79 21:51, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

WP:RL Article Improvement Drive
As part of the Article Improvement Drive, I'd like to participate and will (not recently though), I'd like to make a suggestion. Rather than strive for an FA for every club article, why not just GA. Although we'd like every article to be an FA status, it would be to hard and long. GA status is much easier achieved. (Parramatta, Rabits, Bulldogs are article which would currently get GA currently), then we have some achivements for our project, get more people interested.
It may also be a suggestion to currently dispose this improvement drive. Their seems to be more interest in the "Collaboartion of the fortnight" SpecialWindler 10:56, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I am going to nominate Parramatta and Bulldogs article for GAC. SpecialWindler 10:56, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Grand Final detail in Final table in Season Article
md I saw a few weeks back that you and Jeff79 agreed to disagree on the question of spoiler detail on the GF result before the GF report. What consensus did you get to ? I ask because I'm reformatting NSWRL season 1972 and i notice that the finals table there currently doesn't have the GF result. What's the agreed approach ? -Sticks66 12:32, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
2006 grand final
I noticed you uploaded a pic of the 2006 grand final. Do you have anymore, close ups of players? SpecialWindler talk 06:54, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't know that it was called manager over there, so I'll add that. As for too many fields, well their all optional. So compare the Brisbane Broncos to Sydney Roosters, to see. OK. Thanks SpecialWindler talk 10:00, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Finals sections of Season Articles
Nice to see you back md. I have no problem with the pre 1937 season articles having a different finals section layout than the post 1950 articles but I wonder if it's possible to get the Referee name and crowd # added into the format in use for earlier ones. This will be an omission from 1927 onwards when (other than 1937) there was always a final. What do you think ? -Sticks66 08:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Manly Sea Eagles
Mate, firstly thanks for taking the time to get in touch. I realise people don't have to it, and I do get a bit defensive when some of the changes appear to be more a personal preference than a genuine improvement to the article.
I would be happy for you to condense the history on the main page. I just condensed the history page, but I think I've taken a bit too much off, particular in relation to players and past greats.
I am happy to go hands-off the article for a couple of weeks and let you guys do your magic on the main page. I'll concentrate on the history page and would be happy to hear of any suggestions you may have for me to take on board.
Thanks.

Club logos
Hey md what's the argument I need to use with these image licensing nazis who remove the club logos from the club pages ? I see both the St George Illawarra Dragons and the St George Dragons have had their logos removed. What a pain. Is there a fair use rationale and who do I stick it to ? -Sticks66 13:23, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the message! You are right that I have not spent a lot of time on it recently. I'll eventually get back into it, but it does need quite a bit of expansion. I might try and add some references where necessary and then nominate it for a Good Article, but there is quite a lot that needs to be added before it's featured material — especially on the tours' impact. Thanks for the message though, and I'll definitely get around to it sometime! - Shudde talk 01:20, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

David’s father Eric, like his son, had a varied career. Educated at Sydney Grammar School, he became a clerk in a bank and was posted to Bourke in NSW where he succumbed to a typhoid epidemic. Patients had to wait for a hospital bed until the previous occupant died and, as a result of the illness, he was the only member of the family unfit to serve in the AIF in World War I. He produced Silks and Saddles (1921), one of Australia’s earliest films, which he later sold to Samuel Goldwyn. He was a furniture manufacturer, stockbroker and perhaps Australia’s first financial writer, producing a weekly page ‘The Financial Outlook’ in the old Sydney Mail under the pseudonym ‘Mentor’ (which he often said should have been ‘Tormentor’). He became CEO of Oil Search Limited and the first chairman of a company making a new product, Ready Mixed Concrete.
It's talking about his father. Also, see later:
Educated at Cranbrook School, Griffin was plagued by serious illness and gave up early ideas of becoming a doctor.

Hey md, could you take a look at the vandalism (deletions) done on 7 Sept by an anonymous user 121.44.114.81 to St George Dragons. Are you able to revert them ? -Sticks66 12:34, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- I don't tend to revert edits other than make copyedits. I thought it was an admin thing. It's actually much easier than I think, isn't it? -Sticks66 12:59, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
