Image use in Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello, Kevin nico. Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. You may want to read Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags before you upload another image. Images with an unknown copyright status should not be used here. Thanks. -- PFHLai 17:27, 2005 August 11 (UTC)

Regarding your writing style

[edit]

Hi Kevin, Nanami Kamimura has requested me to talk to you as per this page regarding your writing style. Some Wikipedians view that your writing style does not conform with the Wikipedia standards. Many of your articles (if not all) seem to be like an advertisement. Remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, thus articles should be encyclopedic. Please read the materials that Longhair and Lotsofissues stated above so that you can write great encyclopedic articles. In addition, IINAG recommended that you read What Wikipedia is not so that you would know what articles should be in Wikipedia. Thanks and Happy Wiki-ing! --Jojit fb 01:51, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your images

[edit]

Thanks for uploading all those images. Unfortunately most of them don't have an image copyright tag, so theyr copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add tags to let us know theyr copyright status. (If you created/took the pictures then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) If you don't know what any of this means just spell it out on the image description pages and me or another experiensed editor will tag them apropriately. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Note that any unsourced and untagged imaged can be deleted on sight a week after you have been notified of this policy, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. For your convenience I have compiled a list of images uploaded by you that need theyr copyright status clearified. Most can probably claim some kind of fair use, however note that in order to claim fair use the image have to be used in an article in order to ilustrate it. Just dumping a dozen images into an article will probably not be considered fair use.

The folowing images need proper copyright tag within a week (there is some backlog, so they might stay longer, but after that time they may be deleted without any further warning). I recomend you concentrate on the ones you feel you rely need or want to keep first.

Images for deletion

[edit]

In addition the following images have been listed on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion because they are not used in any articles. As I mentioned above "fair use" images are only allowed in connection with an article where they are directly relevant. Some (but not all) of these also lack source information, but they are listed above too (sorry about the duplication).

[edit]
The image you uploaded, Image:Bora.JPG, has no source information. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, ie in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Unless the copyright status is provided, the image will be marked for deletion on 24 October 2005.

ABS-CBN Interactive

[edit]

This note is regarding the article ABS-CBN_Interactive. An AfD was placed on it with a stated reason. You then proceeded to remove it twice, after which it was restored.

If you disagree with the AfD, then make your voice heard at the appropriate AfD page, but removing the notice does not make your case. If we all follow procedures, things will be done properly. If the article is worth keeping, it will survive the vote. Peyna 03:13, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it as {{logo}} again, even if you made the image in question yourself in Photoshop it's still based upon or derived from a copyrighted work (and in this case probably trademarked as well), and as such you can not release it under GFDL as your own work. Proably just a honest mistake, but be carefull about these things in the future. --Sherool 01:21, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

thank you....please keep me informed of my mistakes in a nice way and i'm very willing to cope up with it...i posted this here for i dont know how to reply with you..

Thanks for uploading Image:SEAG mascot.gif. Please add an appropriate image copyright tag and source information to the image description page or the image may be deleted. See Wikipedia:Image use policy for more info. Thanks and happy editing! --Jtalledo (talk) 15:45, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Web-screenshot tag

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Google screenshot.png, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please make sure that Wikipedia has permission to use these images. Then edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. You may find an appropriate tag at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags or Wikipedia:Template messages, or if none of these fit you may write a description of the license yourself. You may want to refer to the image use policy. If the use of this image on Wikipedia is a copyright violation, please follow the steps at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion to nominate this image to be deleted. If you have any questions, please feel free to post a message on my talk page. —Bkell 23:48, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You need to identify two things for every image you upload to Wikipedia: the source of the image (i.e., where it came from), and the license it's being used under (i.e., why it can legally be used on Wikipedia). So the first step is to give the source for all of these.
After you've done that, you need to figure out who the copyright holder is. If you made an image yourself, from scratch, then you are the copyright holder, and you should consider licensing it under a free license such as the GFDL. Otherwise, you need to contact the copyright holder and see if he or she is willing to license the image under a free license. If not, then the only way an image can be used in a Wikipedia article is if the use of that image in the article qualifies as "fair use" (please read the fair use article and Wikipedia's fair use guidelines for more information). If you decide to claim fair use, then you must provide a fair use rationale along with an appropriate fair use tag. This rationale must explain why you believe the use of this image in the Wikipedia article in question qualifies as fair use. In particular, it must explain why the image is necessary to the article, and why it is not possible to use a freely licensed image instead.
Thank you for your help in making sure Wikipedia complies with U.S. copyright laws. —Bkell 09:37, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rookie editor?

[edit]

I don't know what you are up to, but I have to remind you that Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, not a venue for promoting stuff. Your articles about the various ABS-CBN articles seem like that your are promoting something. You have to review your writing style and reevaluate it. I have to re-edit some those articles that you made because they are full of problems.

Also, don't just upload images like crazy. I think you just get them randomly and upload them here. Howard the Duck has especially noticed that you got the pics from the Pinoy Big Brother website without writing e-mails for permission. You're developing a bad habit, don't you know?

You have to be careful of what you are doing from this point onwards, because I can see that the administrators are putting you into big trouble right now. - 上村七美 14:36, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Celeblogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Celeblogo.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Little big star logo.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. License tagging for Image:Wrr small.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wrr small.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:09, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:PBBCE screenshot.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PBBCE screenshot.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ~ BigrTex 16:30, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:ASAP_05.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ASAP_05.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:49, 4 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sandstein 12:49, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ASAP_05.JPG

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:ASAP_05.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Asianovela has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this term might not be significant enough for an article. Please review Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms for the relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so. Remember, however, that Wikipedia is not a dictionary, so articles about the meanings and usages of terms are not appropriate either.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Scq abscbn.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Scq abscbn.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Kevin nico! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

A tag has been placed on File:MCULOGO1908.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Bahay1.JPG listed for deletion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Bahay1.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 01:48, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article My Juan and Only has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Hoax: nothing online about a TV show of this name, not even in the IMDB credits of any of the actors listed.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I need your help please

Hi, I need your help in moving the Digital transition section of ABS-CBN Corporation article to DWWX-TV article. I think the section is more appropriate in the DWWX-TV article since it pertains to the flagship TV station of ABS-CBN. I am not familiar with moving a section although I have read the guide in moving a whole article unto another. I hope you can help me. Thank you. God bless.
