Thanks for your recent edits at 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. There is currently an editor User:J who is reverting against multiple editors in order to force his version on an edit into the article. He appears to be dedicating himself to making serial reverts to force his edit into the article even though Talk page discussion is still unresolved. He has been contacted on his Talk page by multiple editors and seems not to stop reverting. Could you look at this when you have a chance. ErnestKrause (talk) 14:39, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Edits to Xylan Wiki page
Hi Keith, I am new to Wikipedia. I am doing my PhD on xylan and made some edits to the Wikipedia page. I am not sure why you removed the references I added. Can you let me know so I can keep it in mind for next time I edit an article? Thanks, Amanda Xylhail (talk) 19:01, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, I did not remove any of the references, all I did was correct the date formats for dates using yyyy-mm format which is not a valid format here. I think that some references were removed in the subsequent edit. Keith D (talk) 19:11, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Source corrections disguise poor edits
Hello - you are an admin and experienced editor, but many of your small source edits on medical articles made shortly after the previous one - like this simple one - cover up garbage edits, as in the case of the Catechin article today. If not checked and corrected - because an admin has aready visited the article - the new poor content remains.
Could you either 1) make an actual constructive repair edit of the content and source (better) or 2) pause for 24 hours to allow other editors the chance to correct the article? Your small source edits disguise junk that has been added. Happy to discuss this with you, but this has occurred innumerable times over years, as it seems the major part of your editing is only to make small changes in a source. Zefr (talk) 16:15, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- The edits are to fix cite date errors and picked up as part of a search for certain patterns of text, and the list is run through AWB. If it is an obvious error then it can be reverted, but if it is a valid date then it will not get picked up as incorrect content. Once Category:CS1 errors: dates is down to a manageable number then looking for erroneous content may be possible. Keith D (talk) 16:54, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2022
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2022).
- Following an RfC, consensus was found that if the rationale for a block depends on information that is not available to all administrators, that information should be sent to the Arbitration Committee, a checkuser or an oversighter for action (as applicable, per ArbCom's recent updated guidance) instead of the administrator making the block.
- Following an RfC, consensus has been found that, in the context of politics and science, the reliability of FoxNews.com is unclear and that additional considerations apply to its use.
- Community comment on the revised Universal Code of Conduct enforcement guidelines is requested until 8 October.
- The Articles for creation helper script now automatically recognises administrator accounts which means your name does not need to be listed at WP:AFCP to help out. If you wish to help out at AFC, enable AFCH by navigating to Preferences → Gadgets and checking the "Yet Another AfC Helper Script" box.
- Remedy 8.1 of the Muhammad images case will be rescinded 1 November following a motion.
- A modification to the deletion RfC remedy in the Conduct in deletion-related editing case has been made to reaffirm the independence of the RfC and allow the moderators to split the RfC in two.
- The second phase of the 2021-22 Discretionary Sanctions Review closes 3 October.
- An administrator's account was recently compromised. Administrators are encouraged to check that their passwords are secure, and reminded that ArbCom reserves the right to not restore adminship in cases of poor account security. You can also use two-factor authentication (2FA) to provide an extra level of security.
- Self-nominations for the electoral commission for the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections open 2 October and close 8 October.
- You are invited to comment on candidates in the 2022 CUOS appointments process.
- An RfC is open to discuss whether to make Vector 2022 the default skin on desktop.
- Tech tip: You can do a fuzzy search of all deleted page titles at Special:Undelete.
Thomas Nast page
During the last year, you have made suggestions to improve the Wikipedia entry on Thomas Nast. Accordingly, I want to call your attention to ThomasNast.com, a domain I have owned for 25 years and recently refreshed.
The site will give you a good overview of Nast in general and my biography in particular, America’s Most Influential Journalist: The Life, Times and Legacy of Thomas Nast. You can look at 160 Nast cartoons, each with its characters identified and its content and context explained. Categories include Christmas, Civil War, Lincoln, Tweed, Presidential Election Losers, Symbols, Shakespeare, and Inflation. The site’s purpose is to educate people about Nast and his work, as well as to preview my book.
The only previous substantive biography of Nast was published by Albert Bigelow Paine in 1902, and is frequently cited in Wikipedia. Although Paine was a good storyteller, his book has many significant errors and omissions because Nast misinformed him (eg., Nast never went to the front during the Civil War) or didn’t tell him about important events (Nast spent a year, beginning in May 1867, on his Grand Caricaturama (33 9 by 12 foot pictures in a traveling panorama which failed), Paine gave it two sentences).
There were also facts about his life that neither he nor Paine knew. Eg., Nast thought he was born on September 27, 1840, but his Landau birth certificate, issued under the auspices of the King of Bavaria, shows it was September 26. Understandable, every prior mention of his birth date is incorrect. I have made the correction to his Wikipedia entry along with a a copy of his birth certificate.
My 830-page biography contains 1,000 Nast cartoons, illustrations, sketches and paintings — 800 from Harper’s Weekly and 200 from other sources. The manually-created Index is predicated solely on Nast’s output. It includes Nast’s Life and Work; Topics/Issues and People/Characters. You can view the entire Index on ThomasNast.com. Irish darts edits
Thank you for your multiple reversions of edits to darts articles by IPs from Ireland. I have been pursuing these socks for some time but cannot get an admin to re-instate the block on 89.19.76.0/22 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) which reduced the incidence of these sock edits. Please could I ask you to look at User:Arjayay/Patrick Bourke and consider a range-block on 89.19.76.0/22 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and consider a block on the 80.233.XX.XX edits - although a rangeblock there does appear to incur quite a lot of collateral damage. - Many thanks - Arjayay (talk) 20:52, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, I have blocked 89.19.76.0/22 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) for a month, I think that 80.233.XX.XX is really too large as you suggest would give lots of collateral damage. Keith D (talk) 23:01, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
