Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, IcemanCalvin. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page William Stuart Michelson, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:01, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to William Stuart Michelson. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 17:29, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not clear how recent edits are characterized as "soapboxing, advertising, or promotion" -- Many of the edits were CE and included repair of misspellings and broken links. IcemanCalvin (talk) 17:32, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What courses Michelson has taught and what certifications he has are not relevant unless described in independent, reliable secondary sources. The website of the university he is affiliated with is clearly not an independent source. I note that you also attempted to readd information you previously added in August 2023, again, cited to non-independent sources. Lastly, I note that you have acknowledged a COI with the article subject, and yet are still editing the article directly, contravening the COI guidelines. I would advise you to cease before I seek administrator intervention. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 17:38, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
