Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through
General project update:
- Following discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Noticeboard has been marked as historical. Hi Fitindia. I wanted to run this article by you and consult you for your view. It seems that the subject of the article keeps creating autobiographies. I have tried to engage him in a conversation about the creation of the article about himself, but keep getting ignored. Since he has over the last days made a number of major changes to the article, wipes all contents, recreates etc. I decided to move it into draft and let him know to ideally work off the draft. Now he keeps editing in main space and deleting the redirect/G3 for the redirect. I was wondering if maybe this could be a language barrier and he does not understand what I am on about in my comments? He seems a TV actor with a number of roles, but I tend to view below notability. I was wondering if you have any thoughts? I didn't quite yet want to raise as vandalism and think there is no case at this point. Thanks, pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 10:23, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Jake Brockman: I have had a look and the subject in question fails BASIC GNG, and is a good case for CSD:A7 which another editor has tagged it with. cheers FITINDIA 10:41, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Building DYK prep sets
Fitindia, I see that you've started to add DYK hooks to prep sets. Welcome to the team!
Before you continue, you'll want to review both the main rules and the supplemental rules, especially those involving hook formatting. When you promoted the hooks, you added three periods after the word "that". The three periods only go at the beginning of the hook, and they're followed by a space and then the word "that". The hooks had been formatted correctly in the nomination (though they aren't always; and the hook you selected for the lead hook was missing its "(pictured)", which is formatted so that the parentheses as well as the "pictured" text is in italics), so be sure you check the formatting and not alter it if it is correct. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:54, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: thank you for pointing that out I will be more mindful of that the next time around. Cheers FITINDIA 19:02, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- Fitindia, I'm afraid you added the extra periods again with your promotion of banded woodpecker. Not only that, it is clear that you tried to create your own single "DYKmake" template, rather than copying the two templates that were right there in the nomination—sometimes a number of people receive credit for a single article, some for contributing to it, and perhaps there's someone else nominating it. You should be copying both the hook you are promoting and all of the DYKmake/DYKnom templates listed in the nomination to the prep area, not retyping them. When you don't do a direct copy, you risk denying contributors of their well-deserved credit. Please be more careful. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:01, 7 August 2017 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: sorry about that I think i'm going to stay away from preps and just stick to maybe reviewing, do apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you again for bringing this to my notice. FITINDIA 07:26, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Article Redirect
Hi there. Yesterday I created the page named Hussein Sajwani which has been redirected to DAMAC Properties. I would like to have some guidance in this regard. You see DAMAC properties is a business and Sajwani is a businessman. So don't you think Sajwani should have a separate page. I mean DAMAC properties can't cover his early life, career and other stuff? Can you please elaborate that? عثمان خلیل 09:44, 11 August 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by عثمان خلیل (talk • contribs)
- @عثمان خلیل: There was a redirect to DAMAC Properties with this spelling Hussain Sajwani and you created this one Hussein Sajwani with a slightly different spelling, also the subject in question is know for his company DAMAC Properties and lacks independent notability. FITINDIA 09:57, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for your explanation. On DAMAC properties page, clicking Hussain Sajwani redirects back to DAMAC. That's why I created page with slightly different name. And about notability, he's been in list of Forbes billionaires list and is known as Dubai's Donald Trump. So I think he definitely passes criteria of notability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by عثمان خلیل (talk • contribs) 10:25, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- @عثمان خلیل: why don't you move the page to draft space with the right spelling and am sure it will be reviewed but please don't circumvent the earlier redirect by changing the spelling. If you need any help do let me know. Thank you FITINDIA 10:35, 11 August 2017 (UTC)

- @SshibumXZ: yes I just checked and you have removed the copyright content, but this the second time you have created a page by copy pasting like you did with this page Department of Infrastructure and Industrial Development (Uttar Pradesh) which was subsequently deleted. If you need help please ask for it, also you have moved a page without any reason as you did here [1]. I hope these were just mistakes and I am assuming good faith but please don't add copyvio content. Thank you for your effort on Uttar Pradesh related subjects. FITINDIA 11:27, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I admit that both of those were my mistakes. I moved the page because even media personnel called him Ahmed, not Ahmad. The Genealogy sentence was unsourced but I verified it by doing a Google search using the keywords mentioned in that paragraph. I should have mentioned it at the time, but here are the sources: Winthrop Family Papers, Reared in a Greenhouse, Geni.com and others. The uncited sentence about the years of her titles can be sourced from the championship tables, as Elisa.rolle explained during the DYK review. Same goes for the sentence when she entered the championships and the year she interrupted (1948). The only unsourced detail was that she was pregnant when she interrupted, but that is no big deal. There was also an unsourced sentence about when she gave up competitive tennis, but that was not a reason in itself to fail the DYK. Then there were two unsourced sentences about the house but at the time I had checked our article on Samuel Corning House and it had the same two sentences which were sourced, although at the time I did not check the source in the article about the house. I checked it now and it does not verify these two sentences. However, these two sentences are now sourced in the DYK article to a different source. Dr. K. 11:09, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Niaz A. Naik, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Punjab University (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ACC tool access request approved
Fitindia, thank you for your interest in the account creation process. I have verified that you are identified to the Wikimedia Foundation and approved your request.
You may now access the interface here pending a tool root marking your account as identified in the tool database. Before you begin handling requests, please ensure you have read and understood the account creation guide and username policy to familiarise yourself with the process.
Please subscribe yourself to the private ACC mailing list following the instructions on that page. I also advise that you also join us on IRC #wikipedia-en-accounts connect where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and you can get real time advice on how to handle requests.
Please note failure to correctly assess requests will result in suspension of tool access. Account creation is not a race, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly. Releasing personally identifying information (such as IP and email addresses), whether intentionally or unintentionally, is treated very seriously and will generally result in immediate suspension.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, and you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked as "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM/ACC.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! -- Dane talk 01:41, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
- Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!
Outreach and Invitations:
- If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with:
{{subst:NPR invite}}
. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.
New Year New Page Review Drive
- A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
- Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
General project update:
- ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
- The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

New Years new page backlog drive
Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!
We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!
The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.
Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:
- The total number of reviews completed for the month.
- The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.
NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

WikiProject Wikify: Current Backlog Reduction Plan
Hey, I noticed you marked yourself as a member of WikiProject Wikify and you are currently listed as active. I was wondering if you would be able to assist with our current backlog reduction plan. While traditional drives are more structured month-long sprints by WikiProject Wikify members, there is currently lacking activity within the project and in order to significantly reduce the incredible backlog, members are encouraged to review all articles marked with the Underlinked Template Message - {{underlinked}} - a list of which can be found here - to analyze the worthiness of the template message on the given article. Articles that have nothing to link or are have had wikilinks sufficiently added should have the template removed to clear the backlog and make it easier for editors to find articles in genuine need of wikification. DYK nomination for Harisal
Hello! Your submission of Harisal at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. I declined the nomination Template:Did you know nominations/Harisal due to obvious copy-pastes from a copyrighted source, and close paraphrasing of that source. The same news article was cited twice from two sister websites and teated as two different sources. I recommedned that the article be speedy deleted under {{db-copyvio}}. I strongly recommend that you learn more about Wikipedia:Copyrights and WP:Close paraphrasing, and do not add any more content directly copied from any sources. The article Anirudh Chaudhry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Muhandes (talk) 14:08, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

New Page Review Newsletter No.10
ACTRIAL:
- ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.
Paid editing
- Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies. A further discussion is currently taking place at: Can a subject specific guideline invalidate the General Notability Guideline?
Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled
- While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.
News
- The next issue Wikipedia's newspaper The Signpost has now been published after a long delay. There are some articles in it, including ACTRIAL wrap-up that will be of special interest to New Page Reviewers. Don't hesitate to contribute to the comments sections. The Signpost is one of the best ways to stay up date with news and new developments - please consider subscribing to it. All editors of Wikipedia and associated projects are welcome to submit articles on any topic for consideration by the The Signpost's editorial team for the next issue.

Deletion of Priiya Nair's Page
Hi, Can you please let me know why Priiya Nair's page was deleted? The information written there was correct along with proper references, so why exactly is the page deleted? Sumesh Nair (talk) 04:54, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Sumesh50: in my opinion the subject in question does dot meet WP notability guidelines. Thank you FITINDIA 07:43, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
Regarding deletion of Pages 'Aurous Avatar Entertainment' and 'Priiya Nair'
They both are my company's clients and it’s our responsibility to maintain their social media image and accounts. I believe whatever information I uploaded on Wikipedia is relevant, factually correct and meets the basic and generic standards of Wikipedia. For creating Aurous Avatar Entertainment, I took the reference of KriArj Entertainment and created the page in a similar format, yet it was deleted. I am reaching out to you in order to better understand as to what corrections need to be made in order for our page to not be taken down from Wikipedia. I am willing and ready to make any amendments suggested by you in order to avoid our written wiki page taken down. Please advise. Sumesh Nair (talk) 08:04, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
