Week 7/ Assignment 7 / Sleep by 11
I have added this phrase, Meituan, to the various latest figures for 2020, which will go a long way to help readers re-understand the app‘s landscape right now.
When editing this article, I looked at research reports from investment banks and news from the media. I wanted to give the reader an accurate figure and information.
In the second article, Pinduoduo, I have added a description of the current situation of this company. This company has changed its chairman and as a result there are some new initiatives that have a big impact on the strategic direction of the company, so I have added them.
Here are the links: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Meituan&diff=1057759903&oldid=1056870674 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pinduoduo&diff=1057761183&oldid=1046960539

- For the first article, on Meituan, I added Meituan's official financial results, from which I found all my data support. For the second article on PDD, I added professional research reports to support my content.

Week 8/ Assignment 8 / Sleep by 11
For the first one, BYD Electronic, the introduction to this company was very brief and I gave a detailed description of his main business. And looking for detailed data, as I hope others will not be misled when they see this entry, I found very accurate data through the database of listed companies.
For the second one, Bilibili, I have added objective descriptions to some of the declarative text of features to make this section less of an outdated functional description.

Week 6/ Assignment 6/ Notkc01
This is Kyle. Hope everyone is doing great! 1. I have found one article about the introduction of NFT(Non-fungible token). NFT is a very meaningful production for the digital world after cryptocurrency. As more and more high-tech productions are introduced to our daily life, we certainly might have another identity "actually" living in the digital world. NFT plays an essential role as we purchase things in the digital world. As everything is digitalized, we need something to actually prove the authentication and the ownership of the products and NFT is the series of numbers assigned to each product we buy that can be retrieved by any buyer to show the ownership, previous price, and authentication. I added one journal article and revised the basic concept of NFT to make it more comprehendible and convincible.
2. Here is the diff link. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Non-fungible_token&diff=1056216323&oldid=1056165499
3. Cyberpunk may not be that far from the world we are living in right now. We surely should be prepared for the exchanges and take our chances. Notkc01 (talk) 13:25, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
- Notkc01, Good overall, though next time please add some more content to expand the article along with the citation. Current with Week 6. FULBERT (talk) 04:24, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I added a citation for rPET(Recycled polyethylene terephthalate plastic). This is a B grade article which still needs improvement. I found a citation from ScienceDirect that can prove the genus Nocardia can degrade PET with an esterase enzyme. Here is a link to show diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Polyethylene_terephthalate&diff=1057659297&oldid=1049252865 . I have learned how to find a citation wisely. 1. I added two sources, one about some other awards the movie Back To 1942 has won, the other is an extra review of the movie. 2. The link of difference is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Back_to_1942&type=revision&diff=1057070062&oldid=1043954318 3. From the article I learned the international impact of this movie. The movie vividly portrayed the major famine that struck Henan, China in 1942. The reviews are not all good, in fact, there are a lot of critics I haven't noticed while watching the movie. I learned that this type of movie can be watched to relive the history but also need to be evaluated carefully like the rest of the movie. By editing the article, I learned to use blockquote and add references to a template.Katxzhang (talk) 08:26, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Week6/Assignment6/Jw6740
1. I found an S-level article named "E-commerce payment system" since it closely related to the topic of my research paper. When I was reviewing the article, I found there is no reference under the section "methods of online payment". Therefore, I found a high-quality journal article talks about digital payment systems and added it to this wiki article with one description sentence.
2. Link to the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=E-commerce_payment_system&diff=prev&oldid=1057572478

1. The two articles I found are "Food delivery" and "Home shopping" which are both related to the influences that e-commerce brings to human lives. Fo the "Food delivery", I found the content under the "delivery software service" is focused on the ordering system in the restaurant instead of food delivery, so I added the influence of food delivery application with supportive reference. For the other article, I added the market trend ad benefits of home shopping with two sentences and high-quality references.

Summary of the cited article:
The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic is an ongoing global pandemic of coronavirus disease caused by a severe acute respiratory syndrome named coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). It was first identified in Wuhan of China in 2019 and then spread over the world. This pandemic heavily influenced the life and livelihood of the people globally. A close to five million people across the world have died and a few million are infected to date. A number of variants of this virus have already hit the world. There is no specific, effective cure or treatment for COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This makes supportive care the cornerstone to manage COVID-19. The supportive care includes oxygen support, fluid therapy, prone positioning for the patients as needed, treatment to relieve symptoms, and devices or medications to support the affected organs of the patients. The preventive measures for COVID-19 include getting vaccinated, wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distancing, avoiding crowds, ventilating all the indoor spaces, and more. The global healthcare industry has experienced a huge demand for medical support systems, devices, medications, and other preventive care in the pandemic. I've added the number of vaccines given for COVID-19 as of 11/29/2021 according to Google News.

Article 2) Economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Citation: Wikipedia.org. (2021). The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Retrieved on 22nd October 2021 from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_impact_of_the_COVID-19_pandemic
Summary of the cited article:
Article 1: The coronavirus pandemic has taken a very sharp economic toll on the global retail industry by forcing many shopping centers and retailers to close their operations for months as a result of mandated orders for lockdowns or 'stay-at-home’. This closure boosted the online retailers’ sales by making consumers look for alternative options to shop.
Article 2: E-commerce sites have experienced huge growth during COVID-19 due to retailers moving to these sites to continue their operations. Consumers' shopping behavior related to online purchases had suddenly doubled compared to the year before the pandemic hit. Further, consumers' behavior towards online purchase of healthcare products and services led some major e-commerce platforms like Pinduoduo and Sunning.com to make a promise to keep the prices of their healthcare products stable.

What I Did and What I Learned
Summary of the cited article:
Small and medium-sized enterprises, abbreviated as SMEs are businesses that operate with a limited number of personnel. SMEs are quite important for social and economic reasons and thus, these sectors play an important role in generating employment. Due to the size of SMEs, they are highly influenced by their CEO(s) (Chief Executive Officer) who often acts as the founders, owners, as well as manager of an SME. The duties and responsibilities of the CEO in SMEs are difficult but mirror the CEOs of large companies. SMEs provide wheels to a nation, mainly developing nations, to drive economic efficiency and employment. SMEs play a crucial role in large enterprises’ supplier networks. An SME stands as a solution to the economic problems like abuse and misuse of economic power, mass unemployment, of the mid-20th century. The selected Wikipedia article has covered discussion on a number of countries accepting and using SMEs for their economic development and growth.

Week 6 / Assignment 6 / RaymondZqiu
Hi everyone. This is Raymond. Here is my assignment 6. 1. Lanzhou is my hometown and I have strong feelings about it. As a result, I assigned Lanzhou University as my article and added its 2020 ARWU rank. Here is the link to my article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanzhou_University 2.Diff page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lanzhou_University&type=revision&diff=1057979692&oldid=1054191202 3. During this process, I realize that comparison is important when we introduce some topic. Take Lanzhou University as an example, its increasing rank from different years clearly shows its tendency and makes readers know about its academic level. --RaymondZqiu (talk) 19:45, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi guys, hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. Here is my assignment 7.

I added more information about its origin with the citation taken from its official website.

1. For assignment 8, I decided to step my feet into the health field not only because I am a gym enthusiast but also I am interested in health and nutrition. Anaerobic exercise and overtraining and interrelated. I checked both articles and they all have explained the topic thoroughly. I edited one sentence of each topic to increase the readability and also inserted related citations to help increase the credibility of certain points in both articles.

- FULBERT For the anaerobic exercise article, the correct explanation of the functionality of the aerobic system. The original sentence did not clarify that aerobic actually help store fuel in the body to prepare for the next exercise. I also added the citation of related studies to be convincible. For the overtraining article, I added one treatment to deal with overtraining. The original treatment section was ambiguous about cutting the aspects of overall training. I specified the volume and the intensity that can be considered to reduce when people experience overtraining. Notkc01 (talk) 05:20, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

1. For my bonus assignment, I want to extend the health topic to stretching and aerobic exercise. Both articles illustrated the topics well and I backed up some points with my citation to help increase the reliability.

- FULBERT For the stretching article, I added one sentence to another way of performing Ballistic stretching that the article did not touch on. For the aerobic exercise article, I added a short paragraph to explain the possibility of using aerobic exercises to lose fat. The original conclusion made by the article was arbitrary and did not consider the level of experience of all potential practitioners. For the process of editing, I learned that we should think laterally especially when we are trying to make a conclusion or advice to readers. The arbitrary conclusions or conclusions without citations backed up can be misleading and unreliable. For the overall reflection with this Wikipedia extra credit assignment, I definitely have more experience on editing Wikipedia and truly explored the overall functionality of Wikipedia. I believe I will continue to follow topics that I am interested in on Wikipedia and provide edits to those articles to improve my writing and the overall platform. Week 7/Assignment 7/Katxzhang
1. The citation I added is about the rising demand for Asian Americans to move to or want to live in Long Island City.
2. Difference of editing: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Asian_Americans_in_New_York_City&type=revision&diff=1057089554&oldid=1043045228
3. I have learned some fun facts about Asian Americans' living situation in New York City, I then get to compare it with mine and got an interesting perspective on Asians and Asian Americans' different mindsets.Katxzhang (talk) 11:34, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- Katxzhang, This week should include edits to 2 articles. Please add what is missing and ping me again here and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 04:50, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- FULBERT Sorry for the confusion, here is my 2nd article of week 7:
1. The citation I put in is an extra reference on studies of dance and mental health, specifically Hip Pop dance and Social-cognitive ability. It enriched the fact that dance is beneficial to dancers' higher performance in many other aspects.
2. Difference comparison: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dance_and_health&type=revision&diff=1057161750&oldid=1057135524
3. Due to my interest in street dancing, I looked up the relevant topics, after editing I learned that dancing can do more than bring joy and a sense of achievement, it actually helps with better performance in cognitive behaviors like mental rotation (another new word I've learned), and eventually benefit a dancer's STEM skills. It encouraged me to stick to dancing for the long-term improvement of life.Katxzhang (talk) 17:21, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Week 9/ Assignment 9/Katxzhang
1. I added an image to support original content.
2. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Walt_Disney_Company&action=history
3. I learned more about Walt Disney Company, its recent innovation, and solution to business decline during the pandemic age.
4. The Wikipedia editing was an incredible experience for me. Frankly, I was not a big fan in the first few weeks, but I started putting in more effort and realize it did make me learn in the areas I want to learn; After 9 weeks of editing, I have learned some techniques to research more efficiently and fluently. I also became more patient at researching in different directions. I learned to always summarize after research, to make up my mind on the next research topic, and make adjustments to what I already had; I will keep editing on Wiki as long as I have the time so that it reminds me of the things that matter to me.Katxzhang (talk) 01:20, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

- SABA90S, Wikipedia usually avoids claims that things are better than others as that is highly subjective, though the image you took and uploaded is a nice addition. Please also share your reflections on the assignment and ping me here and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 18:30, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Week 8/Assignment 8/Katxzhang
1. What I did in this article is add a testified example that emotional damage was made to students because of the neglect of teachers on the relevant issue.
2. Comparison: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=School_climate&type=revision&diff=1057625462&oldid=1015200399
3. I learned that schools should care more about students' general wellbeing rather than focusing on academic progress. Because ample research has proved that school climate can eventually impact the academic performance of students, lead to fewer dropouts, which will raise an institution's reputation in the long run. A good school vibe really can make a difference, as it is never meant to be a place for students to suffer. I also learned to research better by filtering articles from different angles then looking into details of a few selected ones.Katxzhang (talk) 20:00, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
- Katxzhang, This week should include edits to 2 articles. Please add what is missing and ping me again here and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 04:51, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- FULBERT Sorry, here is the other article of week 8:
1. In this week's article, I added a new sentence to introduce and conclude the meaning of the issue discussed in the paragraph.
2. Comparison: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Social_aspects_of_television&type=revision&diff=1057174763&oldid=1050974371
3. The article I found is called "Social Aspects and Television". I added the session about gender and television. Looking at the golden time television series' revolution, female characters used to have several certain stereotypes, for example, there used to be many characters as desperate wives or gullible teenagers, which, the characters are fine for sure, what is not okay it trying to send the idea that women are powerless and incapable of control their own life. Through this editing, I learned the gradual yet significant changes in the television industry, where feminism is able to be spread across the world to alter many females' minds that they are within the right to speak for themselves, or that they are weak. It is thriving and breathtaking.Katxzhang (talk) 17:24, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
