  5. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog.

MSU Interview

[edit]

Dear Enigmaman,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talkcontribs) 23:18, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Margaret Sanger Semi-protection

[edit]

Vandalism by ip edits seems to be on the rise for the Margaret Sanger article. It seems to be at the rate of once every two days. I recommend semi-protecting the article for some time. This has been an on-going problem because she is a controversial figure. Do you think the article should be semi-protected forever? --Harizotoh9 (talk) 21:26, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The threshold for semi protection typically requires vandalism to be occurring more frequently than that, although I understand how it can be frustrating. By the way, how did it happen that you came to me? I'm just curious. Enigmamsg 04:45, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article restructuring at the Beatles

[edit]

There is a straw poll taking place here, and your input would be appreciated. — GabeMc (talk) 02:38, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am refraining because I'm not familiar enough with the article to form an opinion. Enigmamsg 23:16, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:03, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

March 2012 MOTD's award for helping the project in a difficult time

[edit]
The MOTD Barnstar
The MOTD Barnstar is awarded to Enigmaman for his invaluable contribution to our project, which was experiencing a period of extreme scarcity. Thank you from Motto of the day. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 11:00, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Additional note: Hoping that you feel comfortable with us, we hope and desire that you will want to continue contributing to our/your project. I personally think that if many of us contribute, then about ten minutes per week, by reviewing the existing nominations, and eventually adding new nominations, should be more than enough to get the project going! Once again, thank you from your Motto of the day. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 11:00, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Real Housewives of Vancouver

[edit]

I've been trying to edit The Real Housewives of Vancouver page and it keeps going back to the last way it was edited. Why is this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hatiki (talkcontribs) 22:29, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Go to User talk:Eddyegghead and discuss it with him. Or try the talk page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Real_Housewives_of_Vancouver Enigmamsg 22:34, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:RFPP

[edit]

You have a request at RFPP: UEFA Euro 2012 Final. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 11:49, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not a request of me. If another admin wants to unprotect it, they can, although it'd be unwise. Enigmamsg 14:52, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Head's up

[edit]

Hi Enigmaman. I always try to inform people when I take an administrative action that affects one taken in the past. Please see Wikipedia:Help desk#Warfaze: Recreating a deleted article. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 05:43, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No issues with unsalting. I only salted it because it kept getting recreated in a way that didn't meet article standards. Enigmamsg 20:50, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Taking care of it now. Enigmamsg 19:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pussy Riot

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you removed the edits that I made to the Pussy Riot bio page (the English version). Why? The information comes with a reference to a reliable source. I can provide more sources if required. I share a position that selective withholding of facts about the Pussy Riot biography serves to manipulate the public to see them in a sympathetic light and not form an objective opinion. Currently, their bio page is more a PR article then an objective overview of their history. I believe that as long as an edit is based on facts, it does not violate the policy to present living persons from a neutral point of view. What made you to remove these new facts from the page?

I didn't remove anything. Enigmamsg 20:51, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edits by 75.150.224.241 on Glenn_Beckert

[edit]

Thanks for letting me know about the unhelpful edits on the Glenn_Beckert article. I am sorry I did not catch it before the end of the school year. The IP address belongs to a K-8 school district where I work. I try to keep close tabs on any edits, but missed that one, as school was out (it was a summer school student who "contributed"). Mistake

[edit]

Yes, haha. That was definitely a mistake. I apologize for the misconception. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lavinr10 (talkcontribs) 04:12, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
