May 2023

Information icon Hello, I'm Wracking. I noticed that you recently removed content from Alexander Ovechkin without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Wracking 💬 01:18, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Sorry for this late reply, but thank you. I thought I had removed something extra from the article, but I must have missed it.
Thanks again for letting me know. IncompA (talk) 06:50, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Birkin bag

[edit]

Hi. I appreciate your note, because the origin story has become distorted over time. However, I cited two direct interviews with Birkin that specify the year the flight took place (1981) and where she makes clear that she wasn't using her straw basket on the flight because it had been destroyed. Did you actually check the references I added? Throw in this Vogue piece which cites a 2012 interview.

https://www.vogue.com/article/jane-birkin-remembers-how-the-hermes-birkin-came-to-be

'To fill the time, she kindly shared her first-hand account of how the most famous, influential, and desired handbag in all the world was born, back in 1981.'

'I’m not quite sure what type of bag I had with me—my husband Jacques Doillon had reversed his car over my basket, crushed it on purpose not too [sic] days before. [Dumas] thought I deserved more.' 47.37.210.169 (talk) 04:30, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, my apologies. I reverted your edit due to the fact that you called Birkin Doillion's "partner" despite them having already been married at the time of the incident, regardless if it happened in 1981 or 1984. You're free to re-add you previous edits to the article. IncompA 07:38, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Birkin actually said an inaccurate thing, because she and Doillon never married, so I felt that "partner" was the best term. (Her only marriage was to John Barry.) 47.37.210.169 (talk) 03:08, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My AFD noms

[edit]

I've been working my way through Category:Articles_with_topics_of_unclear_notability_from_May_2010. I've already done March and April. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:35, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@UtherSRG I see. Perhaps I should get around to doing that sometime.
Hey, completely unrelated, but I found this article and thought it was pretty deletion-worthy. However, would you think that land features with a entry in the GNIS database are implicitly notable or not? Sorry if this isn't your field of expertise, but you are obviously much more experienced than me and there isn't much use in trying to contact a dead talk page. IncompA 18:43, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That would fall under WP:NGEO. I AFD nom'd it. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:50, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AFDs

[edit]

Hello, IncompA,

I just looked at recent AFDs for August 12th and you just went down the list posting "Delete as per the nomination" over and over again. These repetitive comments are useless. You commented on 7 AFD discussions over 10 minutes. It makes it look like you didn't even review the article and evaluated its sources, you just read the nomination statement and posted, "Yeah, me too". It's better to participate in fewer discussions but actually read the article in question, check all of the sources and post a substantial comment on whether or not notability is established. It helps even more if you spend some time looking for additional sources that could be used to establish notability. If you keep posting "per nom" comments, other editors will just stop paying attention to your comemnts because it's clear you are not doing your due diligence as a thoughtful AFD participant.

If you can't devote the time to do a thorough review of an article, it's better to find a different activity to participate in rather than deletion discussions. I'll just say that as an AFD closer, I won't be giving your "per nom" comments any weight at all. That can change if you want to be taken seriously and actually influence the course of the discussion but it takes putting in some time and effort. It's your choice how you spend your time on the project. But being a regular participant in AFD discussions is rather demanding and it might not be for you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:45, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I know this is old but this comment made me put more effort into my AfD !votes. Thanks. IncompA 16:05, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Re this

I disagree. The sentence is very loaded, and the moral position is lost without clarification. 193.69.198.165 (talk) 21:11, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The neutrality is lost with your form of the article. Wikipedia is meant to be a neutral website. IncompA 21:16, 17 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Info box fields

[edit]

Please don't remove unused info box fields. It hurts nothing to be left empty but it's a real pain in the but when someone goes to add info to the info box and the field is missing. Thanks! Masterhatch (talk) 09:06, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
