User talk:DridsOBrien
Welcome!
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, DridsOBrien, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I also see that some of your recent edits show an interest in the use of images and/or photos on Wikipedia.
Did you know that ...
- ...wikipedia has a very stringent image use policy?
- ...most images from Flickr, online news websites, and other web sources are copyrighted?
- ...wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously?
- ...freely-licensed images should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, a central location for images where they can be used on all Wikipedia projects?
- ...we recommend that new users use our "files for upload" process - at least until you get the hang of things?
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

Disambiguation link notification for May 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited World of Our Own (song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Anything Is Possible (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). License tagging for File:Katy Perry - Dark Horse Single cover.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Katy Perry - Dark Horse Single cover.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Kian Egan (2014).jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Kian Egan (2014).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:08, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
- As a follow-up to your dispute of the file here, the reason I tagged the file for deletion is that Wikipedia does not accept non-free images of living people, as it is possible to create a freely-licensed image of them. In this particular case, an image of the subject already exists. We don't use non-free images because they are better than the free ones; we always stick with freely licensed versions when we can. I suggest reading up on WP:Non-free. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:20, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from File:Westlife member Kian Egan.jpg, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:35, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with File:Shane Filan (2014).jpg. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Discuss it out with me if you disagree with the deletion tags ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 21:37, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Dark Horse (Katy Perry song). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. STATic message me! 21:49, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Katy Perry - Dark Horse Single cover.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Katy Perry - Dark Horse Single cover.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:36, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Westlife member Kian Egan.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Westlife member Kian Egan.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stefan2 (talk) 22:37, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

The file File:Kasey Cisyk - You Light Up My Life (cover).jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Exact cover art used for the parent soundtrack album (ebay, discogs, 45worlds). The exact variant unused in any single release (discogs, discogs (2)). As-is, may fail WP:NFCC#10a and/or WP:NFCC#5 and/or WP:NFCC#4. Portuguese sleeve appears almost similar but uses different variant of record label logo (discogs). You Light Up My Life (soundtrack) merged into You Light Up My Life (film). If used in the film article, may fail WP:NFCC#8.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
