Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 22:21, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
ye olde rfa thank spam
d.d., I just wanted to thank you for participating in my recent RFA, and also invite your further input at my in-depth RFA analysis. i've also left some templated thank spam for you below (now with 50% less trans-fat!). happy editing, xenocidic (talk) 23:46, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your support
I would like to thank the community for placing their trust in me during my recent request for adminship, which passed 72 13 2 . Rest assured, I have read each comment thoroughly and will be addressing the various concerns raised as I step cautiously into my new role as janitor. In particular, I would like to thank Balloonman for putting so much time into reviewing my contributions and writing such a thoughtful nomination statement after knowing me for only a brief period of time (and for convincing me that I was ready to take up the mop now, rather than go through admin coaching).
To my fellow admins - please let me know right away if I ever take any mis-steps with my new tools. Should I make a mistake, and you reverse the action, I will not consider it to be wheel-warring (but please tell me so I can understand what I did wrong).
To everyone - please feel free to slap me around a bit if I ever lose sight of the core philosophy of Wikipedia as I understand it - the advancement of knowledge through the processes of mutual understanding and respect. As always, feel free to drop by my talk page if I can be of any assistance. =)
Sincerely,
~xenocidic, 01:04, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Re: Spotlight
Ok, Sorry for the delay. My CD drive is broken, and I have been having final exams.
The reason the broken CD drive is a problem is because I need the CD drive to run linux. Then I can retrieve the file. I am sorry if this delay has caused any problems.
What I will do is run the linux CD on another computer and access the file from there.
Thanks for your patience,

Good work on the lead, but this article gets over 17,000 hits a day, and I would expect readers would want to see more structured prose than a list of facts summarising the rest of the article, and spelled correctly. Just a heads up. --Rodhullandemu 22:58, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 19:59, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

My comment at RfA
I hope you didn't feel I was implying that you, or any of the other nominators, were actually pestering users at RfA. I just wanted to be sure that you guys were aware that some people frown upon that. That's all. No apologies necessary. Wisdom89 (T / C) 16:41, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Spotlight
Ok, I successfully retrieved all the files.
Please e-mail me with the channel name (if it has changed) and the IRC nicks which need to have operator access on the bot.
Then I will e-mail you all of the files with instructions on how to run the bot (from your computer, and operating it from IRC.)
Thanks, GMoney2 (talk) 20:15, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- The way !topic works is it finds certain keywords in the title and replaces it with certain statistics. So, this is what it finds:
- Average edits per day: [\d.]+
- This is just the text "Average edits per day:" and any number. Then it replaces the value with the new average edits per day.
- To enter this variable for the bot to change, just add Average edits per day: 0 to the topic and it will do the rest.
- Been working on this article for: [\d.]+ days, [\d.]+ hours, [\d.]+ minutes
- It finds that text, with the [\d.]+ replaced with a number.
- To enter this variable for the bot to change, just add Been working on this article for: 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes to the topic and it will do the rest.
- Total participants: \d+
- This is the total amount of people who have edited the article. If one person makes more than one edit, it doesn't count those in the total tally. This is total people, not total edits.
- To enter this variable for the bot to change, just add Total participants: 0 to the topic and it will do the rest.
- Edits made to this article: \d+
- Total number of edits made to the article since it was made a spotlight page
- To enter this variable for the bot to change, just add Edits made to this article: 0 to the topic and it will do the rest.
- Total edits made to all articles: \d+
- Total edits made ever since the bot started counting
- To enter this variable for the bot to change, just add Total edits made to all articles: 0 to the topic and it will do the rest.
- Average edits per day: [\d.]+
- If you want to change any of the text,
- Go to main.php in a text editor
- Scroll down all the way to line 464
- Or where you see function update_topic() {
- (you could also just ctrl+f and search for that string).
- Then go down to where you see preg_replace(
- Then find the text you want to change and change it in both places where it is.
- There will be two places where each text exists. You must change both.
- Also, don't remove any of the PHP variables or regex code.
I have closed this afd with a delete. Bearian (talk) 21:26, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

We Say Summer
Hello, it seems you deleted my page entitled We Say Summer. I'd really appreciate it if you could put it back up. The reason i wrote "check back later" is because i was in a rush, and was going to complete it tonight. They are a new band in the Orleans, Ottawa area with rising status. Please put it back up, thanks.

Re: Problems with spotlight bot
Ok, there are many things which may be causing this.
- Maybe it is not logging in on wiki
- Maybe it doesn't know what pages to edit
- Maybe the account doesn't work
So, to figure this out, you will need to do some test runs.
To do this:
- Copy config.php to testconfig.php
- Open in a text editor testconfig.php
- Change the IRC channel to a test channel
- Change the IRC bot nick and pass to either your nick, or simply an unregistered nick
- Change the Wiki-login to either your account, or simply a test account
- To run this test bot, run (keeping quotes in-tact):
- cd "C:\Path\To\Bot\Folder\"
- "C:\Program Files\PHP\php.exe" persist.php testconfig.php
Note, that the test bot and the real bot can run simultaneously.
If the test-configurated bot runs according to the new settings, you have successfully set up the testing bot.
Now we have to execute the different tests.
Once you get this set up (or if it doesn't work in the first place) contact me.
If it does work, I can either come on IRC and help run the tests, or do it from here.
Thanks, GMoney2 (talk) 04:29, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, we will need to coordinate this live then.
- There could be many things wrong, so I suggest making a testing channel, then I go on IRC and coordinate the tests.
- For example, I would go "Ok, now try this: Go to main.php and edit line 50," etc..
- E-mail me a channel name for me to go to and a time in UTC and I will try to be there.
- Thanks, GMoney2 (talk) 04:05, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Kristallnacht/to do prod
Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I have proposed the deletion of an article you created, Kristallnacht/to do. It appears to be a "subpage" created while you guys were working to get Kristallnacht to GA status -- nice work, by the way!
On Wikipedia, subpages are actually disabled in the main space which makes the to-do page its own article, independent of Kristallnacht, and one that could come up as a random article. As it is not encyclopedic on its own, I have proposed its deletion.
As everything on the to-do page is already marked "done", I don't think deleting the page should cause any problems. If you do want a to-do page, it is customary to put it in the Talk page for the article, as described in WP:TODO.
Thanks for all of your work on Wikipedia! -- KathrynLybarger (talk) 01:12, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
