- Seeing in Boreas's talk page that you apparently edited it before, and your edit was reverted. You are of course welcome to give your contribution, but you need to provide reliable sources (and please avoid edit-warring). I must say I have never heard of Boreas being a god of entertainment, so you might need to do better research, or else your edits will be removed again. Invitation to join New pages patrol
[edit]Hello Deiadameian!
- The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
- We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
- If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

[edit]Hi, I see you're a member of WP:Mythology, would you be interested in a sub project on WP:Anthropology on oral tradition? Kowal2701 (talk) 14:47, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- That's sounds interesting but I am not sure there's much I can contribute to in that area. Deiadameian (talk) 16:33, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Tbh, most articles involving oral tradition have clean up tags, even just copy editing would be useful. I’d like to have some useful sources on the main page for people interested but not familiar, personally I’d recommend skimming through Jan Vansina’s Oral tradition as history [1]. I imagine most people would just edit for specific topics or regions they’re interested in Kowal2701 (talk) 16:45, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Have you considered nominating Aphrodite Rhithymnia for DYK? With a picture and an interesting story it's a good candidate. Richard Nevell (talk) 21:50, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Richard Nevell: Thank you, but I don't think it fulfills the "Cited hook – The facts of the hook need to appear in the article with a citation no later than at the end of the sentences in which they appear" criterion. Deiadameian (talk) 21:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Aphrodite Rhithymnia
[edit]On 8 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Aphrodite Rhithymnia, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a Cretan man found a 1st-century statue of Aphrodite while trying to drill a well, and then reburied it? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Aphrodite Rhithymnia. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Aphrodite Rhithymnia), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Artemis reference
[edit]Hi, in this edit to Artemis you made a reference to "Van Windekens 1986: pp. 19‒20". Unfortunately you didn't list any work by Van Windekens, so nobody can look it up. This is a common problem with short citations. If you could supply the source it would be appreciated. DuncanHill (talk) 11:43, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

Incest in Greek mythology
[edit]Hey Deiadameian, earlier this year, a category you created, Category:Incest in Greek mythology, was taken to CfD; at the time, I opposed its deletion, as it seemed a useful category, but others disagreed, and it was deleted. [2] Coming across the category and that discussion recently, I decided to ask the discussion closer what the best course of action would be given my continued disagreement with its deletion, and they suggested [3] that I ping the other editors who had been involved in the CfD discussion at WT:CFD and come to an agreement with them there. However, I have also noticed that in September you created Category:Mythological people involved in incest (which also contains figures outside of Greek mythology), and added it to Category:Greek deities, a change which I actually reverted (though I didn't realise I was doing so at the time), as presumably a subcategory functions as a subclass of its parent category. Given this, I thought I would ask you, as the creator of the relevant categories, and as an editor more familiar with categories: should "Incest in Greek mythology" be restored, and, if so, would it be better named as "Greek mythological people involved in incest", or should perhaps the parent category be renamed to "Incest in mythology"? Any other thoughts also appreciated. Best, Michael Aurel (talk) 08:49, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- If I remember correctly (my memory might fail me here) a reason for the deletion was that the name was not appropriate in comparison to the relevant categories on incest, ie there was no category about people involved in incest (along with how relevant the category was for the subjects in question, which in my view was pretty relevant, but alas others disagreed). However as I noticed, the categories Category:Fictional characters involved in incest and Category:People convicted of incest existed and were deemed appropriate, so I reasoned there was no harm in re-creating that category, albeit with a more fitting name, which is why I chose the title as is.
- I do not mind any renaming, but I think including "Greek" will make the category too limited as it includes (as for now) some non-Greek pages. The non-Greek ones are fewer in number but in part this is because I am not that familiar with other folkloric traditions in order to add them. I believe there's more articles that could fit in that category but I am simply not aware of them. "Incest in mythology" is fine and I would have choosen that if not for its similarity to the original category's name, which got deleted. Cheers. Deiadameian (talk) 09:02, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your (fast!) response. So, do you think that it would make sense to rename the current category "Mythological people involved in incest" to "Incest in mythology", and then create a subcategory "Incest in Greek mythology"? – Michael Aurel (talk) 09:10, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- No prob. Deiadameian (talk) 09:12, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
