Little Miss Sunshine FAC
Hi, you partially reviewed the Little Miss Sunshine article when it was at FAC. Unfortunately, the article failed due to lack of supporters, and I was wondering if you could finish reviewing the article so I can nominate the article again. You stated that it had more grammar issues, and I would like to address these before nominating. Thanks for your time and let me know if you have any questions. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 04:16, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- The article has been nominated again, and I would appreciate it if you took another look. If not, thanks for your initial comments and happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 23:15, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Myst input method
On this edit, since the game was released for a few console platforms, would a game controller be listed as an input device here? Or should this information not be shown in the infobox, since that was not an input method used for the main platform? — OranL (talk) 16:19, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- What are your thoughts on this? — OranL (talk) 19:17, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't see your original heading. I dunno, I suppose we could add in the joystick, but I was thinking more on the lines of the original release. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 19:26, 8 September 2008 (UTC) - copied from User talk:OranL — OranL (talk) 21:11, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I don't really care either way, but I was thinking since the "platforms" section contains all the hardware the game was released for, maybe the "input" section should have the PS controller, etc. listed as well. Either way, I don't really think it's a necessity, since it's implied that the controller would be platform-specific, and the main platform's (the PC's) input devices are listed. — OranL (talk) 21:11, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Asking for technical details in the Sceptre matter...
I'm at a loss. Why are you asking about this? You might want to review a few cases at WP:RFCU or the archives and see what level of detail is typically given. ++Lar: t/c 17:25, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- (Refactored from User_talk:Lar per my policy)Tznkai basically answered my question. [1] I guess what I was trying to ask was exactly how you came to the conclusion that the accounts in question were socks of Sceptre. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 17:45, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- The answer is "using the tools and techniques that CU's use". You're not going to get a better answer than that. Nor should you. I'm at a loss as to why you keep going on about this. How many times are you going to ask the same question and get the same answer? ++Lar: t/c 17:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't get what the issue is. I am simply trying to understand how a checkuser is performed and how it is decided if a user is using socks. No reason to be snappy. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 18:00, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry if I seem snappy but you've been told many times now that you're not going to get technical details. So why do you keep asking? You can learn more about CU here m:Help:CheckUser and here m:CheckUser_policy. I hope that helps. If you have additional questions, the thread about Sceptre is not the place to ask them. ++Lar: t/c 18:09, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- I understand the privacy policy, it just seems to me reading those pages that they're a bit coy about what checkuser allows those with the rights to see. It's a little cloak and dagger to me is all, and as I've stated I've have very little interaction with RFCU in my 3 or so years on the wiki. :/ Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 20:20, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- OK... First, the help page I pointed you at shows the kinds of things that CU returns when you run a check. If anything, it's rather less coy than I'd prefer if I were writing it. Second, security by obscurity doesn't work, in the long run, of course, but you'll find that CUs typically don't discuss exactly how they come to the conclusions they do in particular cases... it makes things easier for puppetmasters in the long run if they know how they were caught. Rather, CUs invite other CUs to check their work (a good part of what I do is check the work of others often at their request). Third, Sam and I have been working this case for a while now, and we constantly check each other's work. The findings are sound... you just have to take that on trust, I'm afraid, because Sam and I said so. I can't do any better than that. But you can always ask another CU to check our work too if you're dubious. However I'm usually quite conservative in saying Confirmed, I'll only say Likely unless things are very very solid. This is one of those times. I hope that helps. ++Lar: t/c 00:31, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Chicxulub shockedquartz.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Chicxulub shockedquartz.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? —Bkell (talk) 20:45, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Edits to Questionable Content
Hey, it looks like we were both working on this article at the same time for a while, so I apologize in advance if I you got stuck in any edit conflicts! Anyway, I in my first edit I was trying to divide all the citations onto separate lines to make them easier to edit (since that's how I see them written in most articles), but I guess that does make it hard to deal with the rest of the article when it's being edited, so I can see why you wanted to undo that. Along with that edit, however, I had made some other changes (replaced one or two bad links, changed the titles of some primary-source references to reflect that they are referencing the newspost rather than the comic itself, put in citation templates where they were missing), and also removed some redundant or unnecessary stuff from the lead-in (specifically, the paragraph about when it went up to 3 posts per week and 5 posts per week, which is discussed in detail anyway down in the Publication section; and the long list of things he sometimes talks about in the newsposts, which I think is probably more detail than we want in the lead-in section of the article). I didn't want to lose those edits, so after I ran into an edit conflict I pasted my latest edit back into the field and just manually deleted all the whitespace I had made in the citation templates--I was trying to compromise between the keeping format that you are going for in the citations, and keeping a couple of the content edits I had just made.
I'm just giving you a heads-up on that, since things might look a little messy next time you look at the diff in the article history. --Politizer (talk) 14:13, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- No problem! I just didn't want you to think "what is that guy doing, screwing up all the edits I just made." For now I'm going to go work on a different article so that we don't step on each other's toes while you are doing your work here. There's just one thing I'm noticing: in this revision, you restored a paragraph to the lead-in about the dates in which QC bumped up to 3 and 5 edits per week...do we need to have that there, considering it gets talked about in slightly more detail in the Publication section? I think the most important things to keep in the lead-in are the date QC was launched, and the fact that Jacques makes a living off of it (i accidentally deleted that second bit when I was cleaning up the lead-in before, so it's good that you've put that back)...but it seems to me like some of the finer details, especially the date of the 1000th comic (which strikes me as important, but basically trivia) could be left out from that section.
- (I'm just mentioning that here so you can decide what you want to do about it; I'm not going to edit anything right now because I'll probably just make things more confusing!)
- Thanks, Politizer (talk) 14:22, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll see what I can do. Actually not long ago I thought about using something like this poster but I wasn't sure if it would be more desirable to have an actual comic. (Also, the poster would have some problems as well, namely that there's so much on it that you probably wouldn't see much detail once it's shrunk down for the infobox, and that the artistic style has changed a bit since then anyway.) So, just to clarify...we definitely want a comic in that box, rather than a poster, QC book cover (if there ever is one in the future) or other related work? --Politizer (talk) 15:07, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I have changed the image, you can check it out and see if you think it fits what we're going for. I chose this one because, out of the most recent 150 or so comics, it is one that has several (although not all) of the main characters (Pintsize may not count as a "main character" on the basis of how much he affects the overall plot, but I bet he has a bigger fan base than the rest of the characters combined, and his image is featured more on T-shirts than any other QC character), seems to be pretty representative of Jacques' artistic style and humor, and doesn't have any spoilers. A few other images that I liked I ultimately couldn't put up because they would have been spoilers (such as one in which Dora and Marten are talking to Faye about how she hooked up with Sven), or just didn't have as many major characters in them. Just in case, though, here are some of the other ones I was considering when I skimmed t hrough recent comics this afternoon (in each of these, the frame I was looking at was the last one): [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. --Politizer (talk) 02:06, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Can I borrow your image manipulation expertise?
I'd like to ask a favour of you (again), since you're significantly better at 2d image work than I am. Could you see if you couldn't extract the PVKII title logo from this page for me, keeping it clean and clear, and upload it in place of my rather poor extraction attempt from a few months ago, that just looks blurred and horrible. I'd appreciate someone who knows what they're doing taking a lookie at getting the logo out, as there's nothing else to really use in the infobox. If the imgae on the Steam page isn't sufficient for whatever reason, the logo is also on the Beta 2.0 screenshots here and on two of the wallpapers here. Questionable Content image at Jeph Jacques article
In a frenzy of wild editing, I added our QC image Image:Questionable content 1158-4.JPG to the Jeph Jacques article because I thought it might be nice to have an example of his work there (and it makes the page a little prettier), and added fair use rationale to the image itself. In retrospect, though, I'm not sure if this really is fair use (it's certainly not necessary to have the image there...although I'm wondering if it's nice enough to make it worthwhile anyway), so once you get a chance could you check it out and let me know if it's ok to keep it there or not? Thanks, --Politizer (talk) 03:47, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

ThinkGeek article deletion?
Hey, sorry to bother you again, but I have an admin question for you. I noticed this morning that a user named Geekyguild has been going through Wikipedia deleting all links to and mention of some online retailer called ThinkGeek; I have reverted many of these edits because he was compromising the integrity of the article by deleting URLs without paying attention to the context (breaking {{cite web}} templates, creating nonsense sentences, etc.). I also noticed that the ThinkGeek article has been marked as a candidate for speedy deletion because of (apparently) having been created by members of that retailer's staff to generate traffic for their website.
A few things that seem fishy:
- The ThinkGeek article has a decent edit history, having been edited by 79 different users over 5 years (first edit was made in 2003).
- Both the user Geekyguild and the user who marked the article for speedy deletion, WIKIGUY_PATROL, are users that only just registered this morning, and haven't made any edits other than these attemps to get rid of everything related to ThinkGeek.
So I was just wondering if you could look into this and see if it's any sort of foul play. Thanks! --Politizer (talk) 14:21, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. I don't know anything about this retailer and don't personally plan on spending time editing that article...I was mostly just concerned about whether or not the request for speedy deletion was legitimate, given that the users behind it seem a bit fishy and the rationale for the request itself (that the site was "created by the retailer") may not even be true. I just noticed that someone removed the template a few minutes ago, but it has been reverted back--apparently it should only be removed by an admin.
- Thanks again for looking into this earlier, Politizer (talk) 15:04, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kigb playing.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Kigb playing.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Serius biznis needed: Yume Nikki
Hi David, I've regretfully had to nominate Yume Nikki for deletion after very recent recreation, the web sources are extremely weak despite it being the kind of game which should attract a lot of reviews. If you get a chance would you run it through your magazine databases to see if someone reviewed it? Good job on I Love Bees, was glad to see that last thing patched up so it could pass, just reading the plot sent a shiver down my spine, the bit about pious flea tricking it into deleting the spider and then continuing to dismantle it, ew creepy. Khan
Admirable work on the film and character's articles, and one must ponder the lovely use of a poster to show elements of the film without trademarks and so on. But there has to be consistency, and how do you think other editors would respond to one article with an unedited poster, or many Trek pages getting a facelift? Hey, could you pitch in on the one oppose for the images at the FAC when you get the chance? Is the image acceptable, or not at all and must be removed? Gary King (talk) 21:18, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- (e/c) Hi, I've been involved in a minor dispute over a fair use image, and someone on IRC suggested that you would be a good person to go to for an opinion. this image is used in the Homer Simpson page to illustrate how the character's design has changed at key points in his existance (the first Ullman short, one of the final Ullman shorts, one of the first episodes of the half hour show and the movie). However, a user has objected to it's use because it is does use four different images and one of them is similar to another image used on the page (however, I did try removing that image, but that did not placate the user). Do you think its use is justified on the page? Thanks, Scorpion0422 21:20, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Odwalla FAC Sources
Um... am I going to get them anytime soon? :P Sorry to be impatient. <:) Intothewoods29 (talk) 01:51, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for sending the sources to me. Just a question: is there any specific reason you sent these ones to me? I have quite a few sources from The New York Times, etc., just online copies. Pretty much all of the information in the email I have found on online newspapers. Cheers, Intothewoods29 (talk) 18:02, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Super. I'll see if I can add anything else to the important sections. Thanks again. Intothewoods29 (talk) 18:05, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
FURME
Yeah, you need to clear the cache. Then click the "fur" tab up the top. It probably won't work on the raptor red image since that already has a furme-fur, so find another one (plenty here) if you want to try it out. Giggy (talk) 02:35, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Aaah, gotcha. Yeah, it's meant to do that. It adds {{book cover fur}}, which does most of the work automatically since all book covers are basically used for the same reason (identification of book in infobox). If you look in edit mode you'll notice some parameters (but not many) are filled in. Am I answering the right question this time? :-) Giggy (talk) 06:19, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Umm.... excuse me?
Hey. I understand that you're an admin and all, I just don't understand what was so "wrong" about my edit that you had to revert it? I would rather not get into an silly edit war over this, although I would care for some explanation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gyrferret (talk • contribs) 20:54, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Dispatches
Suggestion: User:The Rambling Man has just resigned as FL Director, prior to a long wikibreak. He's done fantastic work at raising the bar with FLs and improving the processes around FLC. I recommend an interview with him. --Dweller (talk) 10:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Would you be able to comment again on there? I made a reply to your oppose, and I don't want the article to fail. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 13:15, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
FT image
Hey, since you've made images for featured topics in the past, could you work up something for the Wikipedia:Featured topics/Seasons of YuYu Hakusho, which currently has a god-awful piece of crap I did in Paint in five seconds as a placeholder. Image:YuYuHakushologo.PNG and Image:YuYuHakushoAnimeLogo.jpg are some templates to work off. Probably, a stylized "YYH" in blue and white is likely sufficient. Many thanks, sephiroth bcr (converse) 04:52, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Nah, that's fine. Anything really is better than what was originally there :p Thanks a bunch, sephiroth bcr (converse) 16:52, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

House image
Hi, I've added a source to the image, sorry, I should have done that earlier. I don't own the first season of House on DVD so I can't make a screencap of a more interesting part of the episode. If you have a better image, feel free to replace my image. Cheers. --Music26/11 08:34, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, if you need sources I would advice you to look at the House main page because most of the references are interviews (wich can also be used in the pilot article). Good luck with further expansion, if you need any help just say so. --Music26/11 13:44, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again, but if you're interested in editing House-related articles, you can sign this list in order to form a House WikiProject.--Music26/11 14:32, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
FLC Dispatch interview...
...Here is done. Let me know if you have any other questions, or anything else regarding my answers. Regards, Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 10:05, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Feel free to chop it down to a manageable size. Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 07:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Bleh...!
I would throw in something like "best historical RTS ever to please you if you brought up some tougher competition, but seriously... StarCraft'? Yeah, I really never got into that game. Replied to comments. Cheers. Giggy (talk) 00:44, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Food and Drink FAs
Hi. I saw the conversation at WT:FAC in which you were feeling guilted into helping out with food articles. Just thought I'd let you know that it's the least represented category at WP:FA, so any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need help choosing an article, you can contact us at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Food and drink. (was that shameless wikiproject spamming, or what?!) Cheers, Intothewoods29 (talk) 21:32, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- Haha *coughs nervously* I thought WP:FAT was taking care of that. ;) I'll post a notice on the wikiproject talk page, and if no one wants to work on it I'll try. :P Intothewoods29 (talk) 21:42, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
>_>
Um... whooooaaaa... I really have no idea how that happened, I swear. Giggy (talk) 00:49, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for always being right on top of his page and reverting that spammers idiocy.
I really appreciate it. 75.68.127.52 (talk) 19:53, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Quick image question
Hi, this image turned up on commons, and I was wondering if it was useable as a free image. I'm pretty sure it isn't because it shows a copyrighted character, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Thanks, Scorpion0422 21:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
