Vandalism is willful damage or destruction. Please explain how this edit was vandalism? The aircraft may be fictitious, but the article was neither damaged nor destroyed. Cplbeaudoin (talk) 20:52, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- IF you had applied your knowledge in such a way that I cannot wrong you in any way, that is probably the best bet for me not labeling that edit as vandalism, since the very essence of vandalism doesn't just lie in the willful application of an edit. It is also that very attempt of doing so without providing a reliable source of reference or citation that which I had based my interpretation of your "un-constructive" edit as a vandalism. For further details, please read up on the welcome section of Wikipedia to familiarize yourself with the inner workings to avoid being labeled as such again in future because a simple check of your own talkpage reveals that I am indeed not the first, therefore I most certainly and definitely won't be the last. Please take heed and cooperate, thank you. --Dave1185 (talk) 07:45, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:RSN Logo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:RSN Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:23, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
File:FE 000487.jpg listed for deletion
An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:FE 000487.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. - I have no objection to you setting the file up for deletion but I strongly feel that the photo resolution of the enlarged & cropped version of this original is a tad too shoddy for use, maybe you could improve on this again before you nominate it, thanks. -- Dave1185 (talk) 23:35, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Re: Nora Samosir
From User talk:Jennavecia#Nora Samosir by way of User talk:MichaelQSchmidt/Archive 005
- Oh my... Michael, you really surprise me with this choice of editing on Nora Samosir, she's quite a talented individual in the local stage/acting scene of Singapore. Maybe I could give you a hand? Provided I'm not too busy with my company's big planes (it's the Airbus 380 if you wanna know), okay? -- Dave1185 (talk) 01:40, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hello Dave. I suppose when I see something nominated for deletion, I dig just a bit harder. This time, I struck gold, as I simply could not even begin to think someone with her history would not have been written about somewheres. A perceived problem with the article is it listing EVERYTHING she ever did, and for whom, and where... and that is simply not required. Perhaps you might advise on the list which ones seem of particular note (I have already sourced several). I would like to then trim it to a partial list that shows some but not all. Do you know if she has an oficial website? And can you find RS that confirm her television and film? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:37, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I had not heard back and archived the conversation... a bit prematurely it seems. I include it here (above). Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 23:33, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Talk pages
I'm slightly confused. Users can remove warnings from their talk pages, that's considered an acknowledgement they've read them. "Important exceptions may include declined unblock requests and confirmed sockpuppetry notices (while blocks are still in effect), or for anonymous editors, shared IP header templates." But that's basically all.
- Not when there is an ongoing process discussing about his misdemeanor, except if the user archive it but that is also subjected to the issue being resolve in first place before he can actually do or it will really look very bad on his part, its tantamount to holding a smoking gun and trying to hide it. --Dave1185 (talk) 21:04, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Ghee Hin Kongsi
Hello Dave1185, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I contested the speedy deletion of Ghee Hin Kongsi - a page you tagged - because: The article makes a credible assertion of notability, sufficient to pass A7. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. NW (Talk) 22:40, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Noted. And I've spoken to an admin who also agreed with me that it might be better to merge it into the main page of Secret societies in Singapore (which is filled with red-links!) instead of being by itself as in the case of another article, these pages tend to attract a lot of vandalism from IP editors. Also, bearing in mind that Wikipedia is an online Encyclopedia and that as much as possible we would want the articles to be sourced from WP:RS, of WP:NPOV and to be fully WP:VERIFY. Thus far, most if not all the details and history of these SSs are quite sketchy and most of these limited information are drawn from the Police archive which are in turn declassify and release to public by way of our National Library Board, and sometimes from our local newspaper. So, as I've mentioned before my take is to merge this with the article page of Secret societies in Singapore and work from there instead of breaking it down so many small bits. Kind of counter-productive if you ask me but that's just me. --Dave1185 (talk) 23:11, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- I am rather surprised and disappointed that a Singaporean would actually doubt the notability of some of Singapore's largest and most notorious secret societies, who once formed a very important aspect of social life for the local Chinese population for decades. Flagging an item for speedy deletion is a very drastic move, and notable/verifiable information can easily disappear if no one else happens to see it in time. If the bone of your contention is actually over the fact that the article is not well developed yet, then you are most welcome to begin work on expanding it, dropping a comment in the talkpage, inform the sg community, or at least ask the article creator and/or main contributors about their intentions. Surely all of these actions are much more productive than an abuse of the speedy deletion tag.--Huaiwei (talk) 01:33, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Redlinks
Hi Dave,
I noticed you've been removing some redlinks; sometimes, though, a redlink can be appropriate (see WP:REDLINK, and especially the subsection When to create redlinks, for more information), if a topic is article-worthy but the editor simply doesn't have the time or ability to make an article just yet; redlinks can help signal readers and other editors of an area that needs work. Anyway, personally, I agree with this removal (since Hui Jiang is probably something that never needs an article, it's just another name of something that already exists), but maybe not the removal of links to S. Robert Ramsey here (I didn't undo it because most WPians might find Ramsey's notability borderline, but I'm pretty sure he's a big enough academic to warrant an article if anyone chooses to make one). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 16:55, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Noted. The primary reason why I've removed those two was due to the overall restructuring I made to the page, which I hadn't single anyone of them out for removal for any specific reason other than that of being a redlink; but rather it was based on that of the article having an excessive amount of redlinks, which I find to be working against it, as a few entries were dubious inputs added by those trouble making Anon IPs a few weeks back due to the problem that had arise as seen in the news. Anyway, you are very much welcome to improve the article anytime, I just want to keep the page's readability flow as natural as possible. --Dave1185 (talk) 00:49, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Image copyvios (re: this page)
Hi, sorry for the late response. I'll have to familiarize myself with the image copyright policy but at first glance they do look like violations. I think the reason the bots didn't pick up on them was because the user put a tag on it claiming to hold the copyright (although whether that is true or not is something I need to read up on). ... discospinster talk 13:58, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Contest update
Well, it's just 1 day until the contest begins, so I thought I'd check in with everyone and make sure you're all ready to go. First I'd like everyone to check out the main contest page and read over the rules and the scoring system. If you have any final questions or concerns, make them known on the talk page. Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Contest/History/2009 is the scoreboard that will be updated, you can watchlist it. Check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Contest/Submissions which shows how your submission page should look. Another example is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Contest/Submissions Example, and your personal page should be listed at the footer of the page, which is also at Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Contest/Users. Again, take any questions to the contest talk page.

Airline House
From the photograph here: http://media.photobucket.com/image/%252522Airline%20House%252522%20%252522Singapore%20Airlines%252522/hengpenghock/DSCF1147.jpg - It looks like the best view of airline house would be by a road along the airport, not within the secure property of an airport. Does this mean that it would be easy to photograph it from a public area? WhisperToMe (talk) 15:16, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- Note that the photographer had used a telephoto lens to get that particular shot from way outside the airport perimeter fencing (most likely from Alps Road, outside the East Perimeter Road of Changi Airport), I estimate it to be at least half a click out from the building's actual position. And if you don't mind the quality of it, by all means ask him for permission to reuse it for Wikipedia. PS: I have a better idea but its still waiting for approval, and unless the guys from Public Relations can expedite it, I don't wish for the CAAS to come after me for my unilateral actions. =/ --Dave1185 (talk) 17:30, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- In that case I would like to see how your idea works out. A high quality photo of the SIA HQ would be great! Anyway, in my country it isn't a problem if I choose to photograph airport facilities from the non-secure area of the airport; I posted photos of the FAA air traffic control facilities and the Houston Airport System HQ, for instance. I guess things are different in Singapore that way. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:49, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, ever since the attacks of September 11th, the security has been beefed up all around the airport areas. Whilst on duty the other day, I took a snapshot of the building but an auxiliary police officer came up behind me and told me to delete the image or he will have to take action against me, citing the Protected Places Act as the main reason. So it looks like its best to get the appropriate clearance first before I do something stupid again. As the boys in blues says: No security pass = No entry; No permit = No photo! =( --Dave1185 (talk) 19:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Mi CASA su CASA
Dave, thanks for the help at EADS CASA. I've been trying to keep that poor Typhoon pic out of the article for several monts. Oddly, the same image always comes back, and always at 180px! IIRC, the main production for the A400M is at CASA, not so for the Typhoon, which is not primarily an EADS product like the A400M is. That's why I've felt it does not belong, in addition to the page being too crowded. I can read a little in Spanish, but I need a translator to get the tenses, etc, but I don't try to write for Spanish WP. That site has just over 500.000 article now, but it needs much more work in aviation, though they have been expanding that field in the past couple of years. Yet, amazingly, the barely literate in English of all other languages keep coming to English WP, and wonder why their "contributions" are not accepted. We have two Italian-speaking users who keep making additions to "correct" the reputation of Italian aircraft, and both get very angry if we don't accept their contributions wholesale. One is banned from it.wp, but I don't know about the other one (though I suspect he may be also). I suspect many of the other non-fluent in English users have the same problems with their own languages' wikis! People seem to forget WP is an encylopedia, not a "hand across the world" social networking site! I'm considering adding "Yes, WP is the free encyclopedia anyone can edit, but anyone can revert you too!" to my notes! - BilCat (talk) 04:56, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Note that there had been a lot of head scratching and hair pulling lately in my house and the lolkatz r laffing @ moi for it. --Dave1185 (talk) 05:05, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Dave, I don't have a problem with a good pic of the Eurobiter Tyfool being in the Gallery section, because there is more room now. However, there are 12 photos at commons:Category:Eurofighter Typhoon of the air force of Spain, yet the same photo is being added every time. You think our spammer maight be one of the people in the background? Very odd. - BilCat (talk) 01:45, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- We try... but that guy still holds the same idea that it should be added back in when the fact that EuroTyphoon isn't really a CASA product. I thought you knew that already? =) --Dave1185 (talk) 01:53, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your support
Hi Dave1185,
I just wanted to thank you for the support for my edits, and repeated improper reversion by Koalorka, in the Glock pistol article. I felt that I was doing something proper, but even then, being chastised and ridiculed by a major contributor to an article makes one question whether they are doing the right thing. Your support, despite being a neutral third party to the disagreement, was a good 'morale boost' for me.
I greatly appreciate the assistance.
-Jersey emt (talk) 19:03, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Per WP:BOLD & WP:IGNORE, you have the right the improve the article... the best part of the joke was, Koalorka got all silent when I challenged him to take me to WP:SPI because he thought that you are my sock puppet~! If you wish, you can read about my rebuttal statement to him on his own discussion page, do take note also of that long list/history of him being BLOCKED by various Admins for edit warring and his issues of incivility with other editors. And the various explanations he'd left on those edit summaries all over Wikipedia still leave a lot to be desired till this day, my take is that he obviously has diarrhea of the mouth and won't admit it. Regards. --Dave1185 (talk) 19:21, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yup, I saw that, and was sure to include some of that info in the 3RR violation report. Based on his prior history, he has been blocked for 1 week. It really is a shame, as I have been going through his contributions and he has really done a lot for the Firearms Project. I hope that the 7-day break will help him realize that he does not 'own' his contributions and cannot revert changes that he simply does not agree with. Although I do fear that the 1-week block will only serve to increase his cynicism. -Jersey emt (talk) 18:13, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Per Law of Attraction, he's gotten what he wanted and if he wants a fight then its a fight he shall have. If he wants to let something in him manifest, who am I to deny him his freedom to run half-way out to meet it? But to err is human. --Dave1185 (talk) 18:20, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Sino-Indian War
This article has been a huge source of controversy ever since it was started. I believe in Wikipedia's NPOV policy but lately I feel that a lot of anti-India bias has found its way into the article. Having read Calvin's and Maxwell's reports on the matter, I'm aware that India did undertake certain actions and make certain gestures that prompted China to respond in the way it did but this article looks like it is starting to blame the entire war on India which is not correct either. Also there are several points of contention that I am not particularly happy with (i.e. the claim about the annexation of Goa). While it's true that India did forcefully incorporate Goa into the Republic China did the SAME thing with Tibet and I'm pretty sure the latter resulted in far more civilian deaths and suffering. Yet in spite of that, the article claims that China only "entered" Tibet but the Wikipedia article (and many reputable sources) refer to it as an invasion. I don't want to make changes that will only serve to exacerbate the situation but maybe the whole page needs to be protected and the questionable content discussed/removed.

Thanks for your note about the user page. I didn't really know. As regards the hound policy, I'm not clear on who's hounding who? If I'm hounding him, I'll stop. If he's hounding me... I'll stop. :) →Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 18:24, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Bugs... you really crack me up sometimes, oh wait... make that most of the time. Just ignore him, he says he used to vandalise WP so what makes us so sure he isn't up to any mischief again. As for User page, he won't be able to get any of it so long as he stays anonymous or not willing to register, thus rendering himself as a second class editor. And that's according to User:BilCat, he said that Jimbo's policy on anon ip makes it so. --Dave1185 (talk) 18:43, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I did my "good faith" best with it, and I didn't really know the rules, so your explanation has been educational. He can't have a user page unless he registers, and if he doesn't like that, he would have to go talk to Mr. Wales. Nothing we can do about it. →Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 19:25, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
AN IP wants a user page and sub-pages? What's next? Page move rights? These guys have to realize that IP editng comes with a prices. As Dave said I said, (which I did) it does make them second-calss citizens, but it is also their choice to remain IP editors - no one is forcing that on them. Reminds me a lot of DC or PR wants the rights of US states without actually becoming states, or having the responsibilities of states. But I digress, as Dave is probably lost by now! - BilCat (talk) 19:49, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

My suggestion is that the next time you ever encountered such situation, walk away and ignore it (otherwise known as "live to fight another day"). Don't be the one who says "I told you so!" or "You deserved it!", not even to your own brother since it's his choice that he chose, a logical result of his own making since obody forced him to do so. And as I quote a line by T. Harv Eker: "Thoughts lead to feelings, leading to actions, which leads to results"... have fun trying to understand that. Warning (what warning?)
Hello, I saw your warning posted on User talk:67.180.161.183, and was there any reason for giving a warning, an only warning in fact. The user only removed Sinebot's comment, and although they shouldn't have done that, reverting and giving the new user a good reason to leave Wikipedia is never okay. I hope this does not sound like I'm attacking you, but this user seems to have good intentions, and your comments could easily scare away someone.--LAAFansign review 02:16, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Dave was right to restore the IP's removal of Sinebot's posting of the true IP address, and the warning was valid. →Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 02:22, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Bugs (why does this sound so weird coming out of my mouth?), I'm just amazed at the level of intelligence that some editors seem to have, or rather, the lack of it when it comes to digging for evidence pertaining to any warning messages here on Wikipedia. - Really, it's a very admirable spirit that you have there but do you think that they'd really appreciate your effort? Kudos to you but let me remind you that 80% of the times, Anon IPs are just plain "pain-in-the-ass" even after we had properly explained to them. Some, if not all, of them are really no different from registered abusive/disruptive users, the main difference is just that they are hiding behind a veil and thinking that we are stupid, unable to do anything aboout their conduct or that we are unable to trace their IP locations. - His dog got killed at 10 this morning. Poor bastard tried to attack a UPS truck driving through the neighborhood. UPS guy hit his Rottweiler/Basset Hound mix and crushed his skull. He had that dog for 13 years. His only real friend. I don't think Ry is gonna be on Wikipedia for a long while now. Today was an all around horrible day. His poor dog didn't die immediately either. He had to take him out back and put him down.. Very sad and very messy. We live in a rural part of Indiana. No vets and no vet techs within 45 minutes driving.. And we are moving back into Indianapolis in like 2 weeks so I/we'll have another internet provider and IP soon. I did make him a new account in light of last nights festivities.. Seriously though thanks man.. - 4twenty42o (talk) 09:01, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Aye! I knew you guys were living in Indiana when I conducted the IP trace earlier on and I also took the liberty of not spelling it out in the clear in order to protect your privacy but you just spelled it out here anyway, no harm done though. And allow me to say something here, please correct me if I'm wrong... dogs are the best indicator of their master's personality/behavior pattern, right? If you observe Ry carefully, something is brewing deep inside him (we don't know since he's not telling!) and that ultimately manifested in his dog's attacking of that UPS truck. Seriously, if he is not a bitter person, he needs to take a break and relax his mind. Get him to watch lots of comedy in his free time, maybe the slapstick type like Charlie Chaplin,The Three Stooges or maybe TV's Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Continue to do so for a month might do him some good. (PS:My deepest regards to him~!) --Dave1185 (talk) 09:19, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Privacy!! Haha that's great!! I'd love to see someone walk into his house and "invade" his "privacy". Priceless!! Between you and me and wikipedia though, Ryan and I are both combat vets. We're both a little off.. I'm medically retired from the Army and him from the Navy, though not medically, he just did 10 and got out. And his dog.. man I don't know where to begin.. Bill is.. was a miniature (40 lbs) Rott in every regard. Ry and his girl rescued him from a vets office somewhere in Maryland or Virginaia, I forget where exactly, years and years ago. That angry little mutt had been all over the country. Sat on the Grand Canyon drinking beer with us.. hell even went fishin in Baja with our kids. But he HATED trucks and buses. Always had. Ryan has no biases like Bill. He hates all things equally.. It really is a sad day. I'm 2 years and 9 days older than my brother and I don't ever remember seeing him cry until today.. Anyways I am off to bed bro. I'll see you around again soon I imagine.. - 4twenty42o (talk) 09:47, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- You really need to talk to him more often, as I've said before I sensed something brewing inside of him but I don't know what exactly it is... and I'm not even close to him since I'm like half-way round the world from you guys! Dogs don't hate vehicles, it's just how they behave due to the manifestation from their master's behavior or thoughts, dog trainers/handlers (eg. the famous Dog Whisperer) will tell you that 90% of the time that this can be avoided, if handled properly. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to judge but this seriously needs your attention to help or counsel Ryan. (PS: IF I may, let me point you in the direction of Abraham Hicks.) Cheers~! --Dave1185 (talk) 10:15, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
In case you are interested in some background: I was asked to WP:AFD this article as part of a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Aircraft#Useful_list.3F. I would have given you a notification of the AFD if you had previously worked on the article.
Please do feel free to participate in the AFD debate, but please do not keep removing the AFD template from the article page. Wikipedia policy requires that the template stay and that the matter be decided by consensus on the AFD page.
In the meantime if you want to address the reasons for the nomination by working on the article then please go ahead. Any article can be nominated for AFD anytime and it usually results in the article either being dramatically improved or else deleted. Either way the encyclopedia is improved. The presence of the "underconstruction" template will not affect the AFD, although it may dissuade other editors from improving the article, which is why I removed it, to help, not hinder. - Ahunt (talk) 00:20, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Dave, I assume you confused the AFDs with the PRODs. PRODs can be removed as a way to contest the PROD, but AFDs (and Speedy Deletions) cannot be removed or stopped. - BilCat (talk) 03:27, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome!
I'm hoping you are an actual editor of Wiki, and not just a contributor like myself. I'm contacting you because your name appears in the Wiki Discussion relating to the Tien Shan Pai article.
I would appreciate some guidance as to how to deal with another "contributor" in what has become the Tien Shan Pai "lineage wars" discussion. This other contributor, "Junzi", represents a minority point of view (vis a vis the universe of TSP practitioners.) From reading his posts over the past year and a half, it's clear he's speaking for Huang Chinen Liang (who, I suspect, is his teacher.)
Junzi's favorite tactics are burying the opposition in verbiage and specious arguments. He asks for others to come forward and join in the discussion (and remember, we are talking about "oral history" here)... and yet, when people (with no stake in the lineage) but who have actually lived through the events do so, he is disrespectful and dismissive of what they have to say.
In good faith, I have tried to carry on an objective discussion with him, but he keeps positing as "factual" things that are hear-say, (or popular fictions from folklore) and then using this hear-say, etc. to spin off even more outlandish assumptions... which he again posits as factual and true.
The over-arching problem is, that even though Wiki is written by consensus, it is read and relied upon by many... often as an introduction to a given topic. What appears in a Wiki article is often copied and pasted on other people's websites. Unfortunately, as we are all aware, not all contributors to Wiki articles are agendaless.
The TSP entry in Wiki was started years ago by Huang's students in what appears to have been an easy P.R. opportunity for Huang and his school. Despite his protests to the contrary, Junzi continues to maintain the position of "watch dog" for Huang's interests and agenda. Junzi does so despite massive primary source evidence to the contrary that is has come to light within the past 2-3 years, and that reasonably challenges the "ancient origins" legend of TSP.
My own feeling is that a lineage war is not something to be decided via Wiki (based on who talks the loudest, or who can write the most words)... nor should it be. This is something for the remaining disciples of Wang Jyue Jen (the founder of the system) to work out among themselves.

India not "simple"!

- IF you know how to press their button, it is quite fun actually. IMO, they are no different from the Pakis, you just have to voice out to them in a sensible and honest manner to reason with them but don't go hurting their ego, their pride is sky high due to an extremely rigid Patriarch social hierarchy where male ego and chauvinism plays a very important role (no different from Pakistan). For those of them who are not familiar with WP, I guess we just have to stand our ground and we should be fine. No worries~! --Dave 1185 19:28, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, the Indians and the Pakistanis are like two old brothers who never got along. They are so alike in many ways, but they can't see that because of their sibling rivalry. The Indians especially like to rail agaisnt "Western" bias, but their own biases are worse, IMO, and again they can't see it. But don't get me wrong, I love Indian people and culture, and often watch Bollywood movies. I've even been in love with an Indian girl. The "All _____ are equal, but some ______ are more equal than others" philosophy underlies many of their views, so one has to be aware of that, and not be fooled by their openess to all views. They have their absolute beliefs just like the rest of us humans! I once saw something, probably added to the Tejas article, that the Tejas was the first in the world to be produced solely by a governemt-owned industry. Of course that left out Soviet industries, but anyway, is it any wonder that the Tejas has been in development for over 25 years, and is still not in production?? "Government is best which governs least" is my philosophy! - BilCat (talk) 20:20, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Don't even think about going on an India defense forum and ask about the 1857 Mutiny (ie or 1st War of Independence to some). No way they can discuss it rationally. They were going to have an anniversary parade in New Delhi celebrating the "heroes" of the 1857 Mutiny/War of Independence. Caused a huge rift in the Indian Army. Some officers in the Indian Army had served the British Raj and saw those in the Mutiny as having no honor and the other half saw them as loyalists who should be honored. The Indian government eventually ordered the parade canceled and also any discussion of what happened in 1857 between officers as a court martial offense. And remember our civil war started three years later and lasted far longer. But, as bad as discussing issues with the ancestors of the former British Raj is, they don't come close to any discussion on the Balkans. There is one very well known webpage for military photos, that has banned ANY postings on Balkans (ie especially former Yugoslavia). Main reason was the cyper attacks against their site and their servers. Makes vandalism on Wikipedia look mild in comparison. If one day it was announced that the powers that be at WP ordered all articles on the Balkans deleted, it would not surprise me a bit. Not an iota. --Jackehammond (talk) 04:57, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
