Boxes
Hello, Computernurd, this is Cremepuff222. I like your new user boxes! --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:13, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have a dispute with the treble clef one, though. Shouldn't "their" be "his or her"? --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:14, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Don't forget to sign your posts! I don't know how to fix it either! --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand that string theory thing. Also, it would be nice if you could add a link to your talk page in your signature. I'll show you how if you want me to! --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:23, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
In "my preferences", type in (or copy and paste) Computernurd22 (talk) as your signature. Then check "use raw signature". --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:28, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- From whom do you learn C? Your dad? I would like to learn C. I have software for programming in C++, but I don't know how to use it. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 23:03, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I like your N.E.R.D.S. user box. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 23:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeppers. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 23:26, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Do you want to add it to your user page? I'll make mine say "Computernurd22" instead. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 23:29, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Adoption
A person can choose to be adopted by a more experienced user to learn from that user. The adopter will teach the adoptee how to use wikipedia by giving the adoptee assignments, or just giving him or her information. I usually ask my adopter help instead of searching for help on wikipedia. Sorry, I can't adopt you. On the policy thing it said that adoptees can't adopt users. For more info, go to Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 23:43, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- My method for fixing that is through trial and error. I think that there is a way to place the userboxes in a particular spot, but I just move them around until I like the way they're set up. Like I said earlier, Mozilla Firefox and Internet explorer freaks out and messes up the user box positions. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 23:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I don't really remember, but one simple way is to find a user that has adopted or is adopting someone. Just ask them to adopt you on their talk page. I'm not sure how to do it the formal way, but I think it says on that page I showed you earlier. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 00:25, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Added a Box
Hey, Nurd! I added a box to your page! If you don't like it, it's called User Cremepuff, so you can just delete it. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 01:42, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- I take it that you like the box? --Cremepuff222 (talk) 01:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Place the name of the page you want to link to in double brackets. For example, to make a link to your talk page, you would type User talk:Computernurd22. If you want different text to appear, do this : my talk page. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 01:59, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- Try reading this article, and if you don't understand that, ask me. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 02:14, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Go here, and when you find a star you like, copy the text into the user's talk page (just like how you would copy a user box). --Cremepuff222 (talk) 02:18, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your random act of kindness! --Cremepuff222 (talk) 02:44, 17 February 2007 (UTC) |
(You can post this on your user page if you want!)
Templates
If you want to make the coding smaller, do this! In the URL address thingy, replace your name with Template:User_nameoftemplate. Place the box (or whatever else you want) on the page. The box can now be easily accessed by other users by making a box called User nameoftemplate. If that was confusing, just go to my template. (Make sure you preceed the template name with "User", or the template will be deleted.) --Cremepuff222 (talk) 18:41, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- Nice one. I figured out how to make categories. At the bottom of your user page, you will find a TON of links. Click on the one that says "this wikipedian knows Cremepuff222"! --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:57, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
I made the friends user boxes on my page simpler, so you can copy and paste them if you want. --Cremepuff222 (talk) 00:21, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Please
Will you please teach me how to create my own userboxes? Please! --Jazzy Trumpeteer 03:37, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Adoption
Sure, but before we start, can I ask what areas of Wikipedia you're interested in? You also may want to see how many userboxes you can get rid of. :) I used to express myself freely on my userpage too, but I've since seen the light. Xiner (talk, email) 17:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Cool. Wikipedia needs more copyeditors! The only thing about userboxes is that many Wikipedians dislike them, and too many of them (who am I to talk?) convey a less-than-professional image to some. Xiner (talk, email) 01:03, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Cool. Well, your first assignment will be to move the userboxes to a subpage (say User:Computernurd22/Userboxen - Wikipedians have a weird humor about ox/oxen/box/boxen). :) When you're done, let me know and I'll slap the "Adopted" userboxes on the userpages. Xiner (talk, email) 01:13, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, it's easy. Just go to User:Computernurd22/Userboxen and copy the userboxes into the page. Xiner (talk, email) 01:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Very well. See the history for your user page for the edits I made. Please read User:Xiner#First_steps_to_conflict_resolution and post a warning to WP:SAND, imagining that I've defaced your userpage. Xiner (talk, email) 02:10, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
The sandbox edits
Haha, yes, everything you do to the sandbox will almost always be erased immediately. Have you read WP:DIFF though? Basically, click "history" on the page, and you should be able to find your version, and do a diff like this. Show that to me. (Btw, it was the correct warning. You may also use level 2 if the person did something really nasty.)Xiner (talk, email) 03:16, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Assignment, COMPLETED!
Hello, nurd. Guess what??? I finished the assignment! If you need help, ask me. (P.S.: Like my new signature?) --Cremepuff222 (talk) 02:27, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- You should always subst: warning templates (), and sign your messages. Also, notice how I'm including this link. Xiner (talk, email) 15:38, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- To subst: means to type "subst:" before the name of the template you're using (eg uw-upv1), and it copies the entire code of the template into the page you're editing. Type the code I wrote above inside the parentheses into the sandbox. You'll see the difference. Xiner (talk, email) 02:39, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, you'll have to send me a diff of a correct warning. Xiner (talk, email) 02:44, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
I knew you could do it. :) Next assignment in a few days. Xiner (talk, email) 04:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- My pleasure. Xiner (talk, email) 04:19, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Good job finishing the assignment, Mr. nurd! --Cremepuff222 (talk) 22:11, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Like my new signature? --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 23:21, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Sign, Please!
Please sign my autograph book! THANKS! --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 23:57, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
New assignment
Hi. It's time for another assignment. Please check User:Xiner/Adoptee assignments. Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 01:53, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
New Userbox!!
Please add to your userboxes! -Cremepuff222 02:35, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Overlinking
Hi, Nurd. I saw that you added a some links to the school pages. Well, I think that that was a little overdoing it (read this). Also, this is a looping issue since the links are included in each page. So you could visit one page, then go to another, then another, then another, and end up where you started again. So, I got rid of them. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 22:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, it's no problem! Is the bar that you are referring to the picture on the table thingy? Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:34, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
If yo look at the school homepage, it's at the top. I just "save-target-ased" the picture, and I'm pretty sure that it falls into the "logos" category, so it's a free-use image. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:37, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you wanta learn how to actually upload an image, go to Wikipedia:Images. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:38, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Uploading images is also quite helpful. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:39, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
A Long Story Short...
Well, some disputes on autograph books was brought up, and they decided some should be deleted, and my autograph book was listed for deletion. Then, someone felt that my userpage and subpages were a violation of WP:MYSPACE and nominated them for deletion. Go here to the current voting. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:43, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- For the menu, copy the text from User:Cremepuff222/Menu and adapt the links (change Cremepuff222 to Computernurd22) and paste it into a subpage (such as User:Computernurd22/Menu). Then, transclude it onto the top of your user page (paste at the top of the page). Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:46, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
If you need help, please ask within 10 minutes, alrighty? Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:51, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- I won't be on in 10 (now 6) minutes. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 02:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
User/Talk pages
Hello, nurd! I made that little black border go away, but you can change it back if you wanna. Your user and talk pages look rather nifty, the colors and organizational methods are really cool! --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book, review me!) 22:05, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- May I make a suggestion? You could format your userboxes so that they are in a table, just place the userbox in the cell that you want. Also, we have a new assignment if you want to do it. It's probably the simplest one yet! --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book, review me!) 23:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
