Problems
A code-change last week to fix a bug with Live Preview may have caused problems with some local gadgets and user-scripts. Any code with skin-specific behaviour for vector should be updated to also check for vector-2022. A code-snippet, global search, and example are available.
Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 8 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 9 February. It will be on all wikis from 10 February (calendar).
You just blocked my effort to add a photo of me (Judd Bankert) at the start of my race at the XV Winter Olympics. I am not sure why you feel that is not appropriate but it may well be that I was not doing it correctly.Jbankert (talk) 23:49, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
We are reaching out as part of our community-building efforts at Wikimedia NYC. Our regional group is engaged in a strategic planning process to sharpen our strategy for the next three years, and we would like your input. Given your connection to us and your experience with Wikimedia NYC, I would be grateful if you would be willing to share some of your perspectives and insights as we think about our next chapter.
Attached is an anonymous survey, which will remain active until February 28. Responses will go directly to Barretto Consulting and the Wikimedia NYC board will receive responses in aggregate and to identify cross-cutting themes. Please take some time to answer it and share your thoughts with us.

Purging a category page with fewer than 5,000 members will now recount it completely. This will allow editors to fix incorrect counts when it is wrong. [2]

In the AbuseFilter extension, the rmspecials() function has been updated so that it does not remove the "space" character. Wikis are advised to wrap all the uses of rmspecials() with rmwhitespace() wherever necessary to keep filters' behavior unchanged. You can use the search function on Special:AbuseFilter to locate its usage. [3]
Molly's Gang is literally the name of the show dude. Someone just put Molly's Game instead and I fixed it. Look up stuff before you change it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.69.20.132 (talk) 00:21, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
I am not Captain Raju but I have noticed this and fixed it. In the future, please include an edit summary explaining why you made a change so others do not need to verify it themselves. If you don't include an edit summary then it's hard for others unfamiliar with the article to tell whether your edit was constructive. Thanks, Satricious (talk) 12:05, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
Season
Always learning: I don't think I've seen 2013–14 season in opera, only 2013/14, it's not "from ... to" but the half-year beginning in 2013. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:38, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
That's a piece of misinformation that has been parroted by junk news by lazy reporters copying each other. People have had to spend the whole day debunking the nonsense. Nothing has been changed whatsoever. And even if it did, it has no bearing on the English Wikipedia, which follows establish English-language usage. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:01, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
নিবন্ধ তালিকায় নাম যোগ
Hey there! Are you taking part in the Bengali Wikipedia Competition? I'm new here. It's recommended to add your name beside the preferred topic I want to translate by typing four tildes and my name on the topic list. But how to edit that? How to put my name there? I can't find the editing option for that.
As in the title, that was a clear abuse of the tool. Please do not use it for anything other than clear vandalism, which my edit to my own comment on the ref desk adding a wiki-link certainly was not. 85.16.43.210 (talk) 19:17, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
No worries, mistakes happen. And sorry if i was a bit harsh in my message. I even assumed it was a misclick. I should have been nicer. Have a good rest of your day anyway. 85.16.43.210 (talk) 20:27, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

Your email message (Thursday 17th February 2022)
Hello Captain Raju!,
Many thanks for your message. I must confess, however, to being rather confused with regard to what It Is that I've done wrong!?
Is It my replacement of the short but inaccurate statement regarding the BBC Television film "The Signalman"(1976), that's caused this situation? I assure you that both the script and the sounds In the film itself are exactly as I describe and are therefore proof of the validity of my description. Anyone can confirm this by simply viewing the relevant scenes In the film.
I've provided a link where It can be viewed for free at 'dailymotion'[1] - there are many more and I use this only as an example.
The only other possibility would be my "User page". When I created my account, and after entering my basic information, I was presented with a 'blank page' which I understood to be an area where a new member should present a short biography (introducing ourselves to the Wikipaedia community). Consequently, I gave a general overview of myself. To be frank, I can't remember exactly what I said because, as It was quickly removed (as you point out), there's no way I can reference It again. It would have been very helpful had you sent me a copy of the article......It's difficult to defend myself when left with no idea as to what It Is that I'm defending myself against!!
I'd be very grateful, Captain Raju, If you'd kindly let me know exactly what the problem Is. In any event, I apologise sincerely whatever the issue may be. Please consider my age (58), my health (recovering from radical Radiotherapy for ENT cancer, and disabled with COPD and Arthritis), also would you kindly consider my genuine concern relating (In particular) to the accuracy of Wikipaedia entries; not only factual errors, but also missing words, mistakes In spelling, Grammar and abbreviation - the smallest written mistake can lead to an entry being misunderstood and misinterpreted - a simple and insignificant error can become most serious and profound! Here on Wikipaedia Is where, I hope, my Pedantic, though knowledgeable, nature will again become worthwhile! Science History, Ancient History and the development of middle to modern English are my major fields and which have been and remain my main areas of interest and research. Chemistry was a particular interest of mine which led to further qualification and resulted In my ultimate career......which sadly, I had to retire from, with great reluctance, due to ill health.
In case I'm sounding arrogant or even narcissistic, I'd like to make something clear - In my personal opinion, I'm an aging old fool, hoping that I still maintain enough of my faculties to make practical, factual and valid contributions to 'Wikipaedia'. I'm sure that I can continue to make valuable additions.
My apologies again, Captain, and I hope to hear from you soon - your explanation will help me to avoid making any similar mistakes In the future. I hope my contributions will be welcomed and I thank you again for contacting me. Thank you, Captain Raju!!!
For your continuous help in listing AfD's in more topic-related deletion discussions, therefore improving the community's ability to reach the most helpful consensus. I can't remember the last AfD I've read that didn't have your signature on it. Your WikiGnoming is greatly appreciated. A. C. Santacruz ⁂ Please ping me!21:28, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

At Wikipedias, all new accounts now get the Growth features by default when creating an account. Communities are encouraged to update their help resources. Previously, only 80% of new accounts would get the Growth features. A few Wikipedias remain unaffected by this change. [6]
You can now prevent specific images that are used in a page from appearing in other locations, such as within PagePreviews or Search results. This is done with the markup class=notpageimage. For example, [[File:Example.png|class=notpageimage]]. [7]
There has been a change to the HTML of Special:Contributions, Special:MergeHistory, and History pages, to support the grouping of changes by date in the mobile skin. While unlikely, this may affect gadgets and user scripts. A list of all the HTML changes is on Phabricator.
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 22 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 23 February. It will be on all wikis from 24 February (calendar).
Future changes
The software to play videos and audio files on pages will change soon on all wikis. The old player will be removed. Some audio players will become wider after this change. The new player has been a beta feature for over four years. [8][9]
Toolforge's underlying operating system is being updated. If you maintain any tools there, there are two options for migrating your tools into the new system. There are details, deadlines, and instructions on Wikitech. [10]
