FE Update

Hi. Since you've been helping me with my edits with the series, along with GA reviews, I felt like I aught to offer an update on exactly what I'm doing with them.

I'm now down to just writing the gameplay and reception sections for Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, after having written as much of a plot synopsis as I can for Gaiden and Thracia 776. When that's done, all the remaining non-GA articles will be ready to take the next step.

It's been a long and hard road, and so far I've done eight out of the fourteen relevant titles, with my work on Awakening dating all the way back to April 2015. I've even done extensive work on the main article to save it from demotion and created a whole article from scratch. When the last five (Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Thracia 776, The Binding Blade, Rekka no Ken/Fire Emblem) are out of the way, I'll be ready to nominate the entire Fire Emblem series as a Good Topic. I think that would be a fine accomplishment: turning a series that previously only had two poor-quality GAs into a Good Topic within the space of a year.

I know you've already helped, but I was wondering if you could help a bit with the last push. The thought of doing all five GAs and the GT part after basically rewriting every single article in the series is more than daunting. If you could take one or two of the articles through the GA process, I'd be relieved. I do feel like I've been slogging away at this as a one-person army, and while it was a pleasure with Drakengard, it's been getting tedious with Fire Emblem. --ProtoDrake (talk) 17:20, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

@ProtoDrake: Sure, I don't mind nominating two or so for GA and taking care of whatever issues may come up in the reviews. Are there any in particular you want me to handle? Just notify me when they're ready for GAN and I'll go ahead. Also... I really don't want to add more to your workload, but I do think that BS Fire Emblem and Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE would need to be included in a Fire Emblem GT even if it's a game-only topic that excludes character articles. TMS seems quite close to GA already, it just needs some more reception information... I guess BSFE could be problematic though, unless there are New Mystery reviews that can be used.--IDV^talk 18:56, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks. I was actually thinking of Gaiden and Thracia 776: I can handle Mystery and the two remaining GBA titles once I've had a chance to rest. If any major issues arise, I can do my best to help.

The reason I left out BS and TSM was that I was going by things like the Final Fantasy Topic, which left out spin-off titles: BS is a spin-off that's not being generally counted as part of the series until quite recently, and TMS isn't counted at all in addition to it being more strongly associated with Megami Tensei. While Shadow Dragon and New Mystery are technically remakes, they're also counted typically as the eleventh and twelfth entries in official lists. I was thinking of calling it something like "Main Fire Emblem series". --ProtoDrake (talk) 19:31, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Well, the difference is that Final Fantasy has a ton of spin-offs, while Fire Emblem only has those two. I would not be surprised if it comes up when you take it to GTC, but I guess it's your call.--IDV^talk 19:40, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

After some further exhaustive research, I've solved the problem of BS Fire Emblem. Since it's often being grouped with Mystery of the Emblem and there's next to no information about gameplay or any kind of reception, I've merged the title with its "parent" article. That just leaves TMS, which is definitely able to be brought up to GA status with a little more work. --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:36, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
