Salars (subtypes: salt pans, salt flats, salt marshes, salt lakes) - the type of geological (resources) objects: it combines - from salt lakes, bays with large salinity to dry "closed" depressions (without drainage) on the surface.

The main sources: NaCl, potash, lithium, Rare Earth and many various inorganic compounds in brine and sediments.

The origine of salars connected with shot humid periods in the end of Pleistocene - Holocene and modern evaporate conditions predominance.

The typical location - arid, semi-arid zones ( Chile, Bolivia, countries of the North and Middle Africa, Iran etc.).
