I[w]ōjima move request

[edit]

Hello. You recently proposed that Iwo Jima be moved to Iwo To. There are many romanization issues that need to be resolved first (I[w]ōtō). There is also discussion about whether a move is even acceptable (Talk:Iwo_Jima#Island_has_been_renamed). May I ask that you withdraw the request and wait a few days? Bendono 03:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

10-4. I missed that discussion. I'll repost in a few days. --Aaronp808 03:06, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your understanding. With your permission, I will remove it for the time being. Please participate in the discussion. And if at a later time you still wish to request the move, that is always your option. Hopefully by that time some kind of consensus will have been reached on some of the issues. Thanks for your help and professionalism! --Aaronp808 04:36, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i noticed you added this piece on cognitive theory to the dynamical system wiki,

[edit]

that wiki is pretty much entirely devoted to a distinct branch of methematics. do you suppose you can find a place for it in one of the cognitive science pages or complex system pages etc.. and maybe put in a link to it in the "see also" section. Also it is a complex topic and i can't quite understand the short description. some of us were thinking of removing it. It looks interesting and i'd hate to see it get lost.Wikiskimmer 00:03, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Tuftsfootball.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tuftsfootball.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:12, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Iyalogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Iyalogo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:10, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:68029.png

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:68029.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:68029.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Phatom87 (talk contribs) 05:48, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Award has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Awardnews, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Rs oph aavso.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Rs oph aavso.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 22:09, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Marion S. (Sally) Oey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced and non-notable, no third party media coverage, subject of the article herself has requested page be moved due to privacy concerns

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
