Your edit on the origin of Romani people

[edit]

Hello, my name is Maxim Masiutin. I'm also a Wikipedia Editor, a volunteer like you. I've noticed you made a edit on the origin of Romani people. You mentioned in the comment that "There’s no way to identify which specific state Romani people from a plurality to a majority genetically carry Y chromosomes of haplogroup H-M82 and Mitochondrial haplogroup M which are common in south Asians broadly not specific to any state in particular" in the following edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Romani_people&diff=1182870384&oldid=1181993468

Although your explanation may be true, I could not find a reliable source that would have invalidated the old belief that Romani people originated in the region of present-day Rajasthan. Although the genetic studies cannot precisely specify the location in this case, this old belief on present-day Rajasthan is based on multiple factors, including linguistic, cultural, and historical evidence. Therefore, it should be a reliable source to back up the claim that the old belief of the origin is no longer valid. Information in Wikipedia should be based on reliable sources. Such sources should be referenced in the text. Could you please, when you edit existing text to alter or modify it's meaning, add a reference to a reliable source? A detailed explanation on what a reliable source is, you can find here: Reliable sources on Wikipedia? I reverted your edit to the previous state because I didn't find the source. However, you may edit the page again, backing up the claim with a reliable source, and submit it again together with the source. The best way would have been to present the information in the following way, like "it was widely believed that .... but this is no longer true because of ... {reliable source}... ". Thank you! --Maxim Masiutin (talk) 22:17, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vlad Jr. was born in Canada. Kyrie Irving was born in Australia. Freddie Freeman was born in California. They are not the same. Engage on talk and don't edit war. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:35, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
