My name is Sally Pickett. I am a freshman college student in Georgia. I am a HOPE Scholarship recipient and was an honor graduate at my high school. I graduated from high school with a 3.7 GPA. I am also a part of Kappa Delta Sorority. I enjoy participating in community service, reading, spending time with family and friends, exercising, and much more.

Contributions to Wikipedia

I have previously worked on the 2010 Pakistan floods, Galactik Football, Albany, Georgia, The Parks at Chehaw (Albany, Georgia) and the Guidewire Software articles. I created the Carolina Cup page myself and I plan on continuing my work on the Carolina Cup article and discovering new articles to make contributions to.

Relationship with Technology

Growing up, I have always been interested in technology. I often find myself playing around with the internet or other devices and trying to figure out how they work. I use technology in my everyday life and I find it very important to learn how to operate the devices in our world. I am good with technology to a point. I know how to use devices such as cell phones and iPods but in the cyber-world I am not nearly as intelligent. I am not good with coding and stuff like that. I intend to learn more about coding though through my Wikipedia experience.

My Opinion of Wikipedia

Throughout high school, I was told that Wikipedia is not a reliable source. However, as I have come to use Wikipedia more and see all the work people put into I know that it is indeed reliable. The reason my teachers would claim that it was unreliable was that anyone can publish and edit articles. This is true; however, Wikipedia has many serious editors who are determined to make the site as trustworthy as possible. As soon as an error is spotted, the problem is taken care of. I for one think that Wikipedia is very reliable and would suggest it to anyone.

Languages

Born and raised in the United States, it’s pretty much a given that I primarily speak English. Along with English I also have five years of high school Spanish under my belt. I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a fluent speaker, but I can speak and understand the language at a somewhat high level. In college, I hope to expand my knowledge of Spanish and maybe even pick up another language. I’m interested in learning French or maybe even Japanese!

I am a sweet southern girl with light brown hair and big green eyes. I enjoy playing tennis, swimming, running, and much more. I am a big fan of Mexican food! I am the second child out of four in my family. I am a dog lover and currently own three. Facebook is my favorite pastime. My family is my first priority and I love spending all the time I can with them. My favorite movie is Sex and the City. My favorite book is The Bell Jar. Friends would have to be my favorite television show. My all time favorite music band is Kings of Leon.
