User:Seonookim/Contents not known by many

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia, as a free encyclopedia, is probably not failing. But contents whose subjects are not well known by the majority of editors in the English Wikipedia is doomed to be fragile, and subject to edits from only one user experienced in the subject, with only minor edits from other users. This is not 'free'; this is like conventional, expert-written encyclopedias; except the user is not the expert. This can completely mess up a page, especially if the user in question is a newbie from a non-English country.

Reason

[edit]

Wikipedia is written by the public. Although the public is better than one person or a group in the scope of subjects, subjects unknown to American or British editors are not noticed, and because of lack of knowledge in the subject, it is almost impossible to substantially improve a page that is not known by many. A subject supported by only one editor cannot see the profits of an open encyclopedia; such an article would only be a non-expert Brittanica. This is worse when the user does not have full control of the English language, does not know well about a subject, is biased, prejudiced, or believes in false information, or is new. These pages will rot away, and many will feel frustrated by the lack of interest and leave. With no editor, the page will rot away even more to the point of deletion. Such a problem is extremely difficult to fix.
