Nick is a 1995 American epic drama produced by Frank Darabount, directed by John G. Avildsen, written by Lawrence Kasdan, and stars Nick Bach, Brandon Botkin and Vince Russo. It is an underdog story in the mold of a previous success with Rocky (1976), which Avildsen also directed. Nick was a commercial success upon release and garnered critical acclaim, earning 9 Academy Award nominations, including Bach an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and wins for Best Original Screenplay and Advilsen for Best Director. The film became the first installment in an ongoing film series, spawning six sequels, several spin-offs and an upcoming animated television series.
