The 2025 Monza 900 Kilometers was an endurance sports car race held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza near Monza, Italy on 20 July 2025. It was the third round of the 2025–26 FIA World Endurance Championship.[1]
Background
[edit]Preview
[edit]The FIA WEC announced their calendar for the re-instated super season during the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend, with the Monza 900 Kilometers being the third of nine rounds.[1] It was the fourth running of the event, and the first as a 900-kilometer event, instead of 6 hours. The Monza 900 Kilometers was the third of nine scheduled sports car endurance races by the FIA.[1] The race took place at the 5.793 km (3.600 mi) Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Monza, Italy on 20 July 2025.[1]
Success ballast
[edit]The was the final race of the season without the inclusion of success ballast, meaning all cars still had their base weight of 1065 kilograms. Lap time predictions were published on 18 June 2025. Hypercar lap times were set at 1:34.5, and LMGT3 lap times were set at 1:49.0.[2]
Entry list
[edit]The entry list was published on 8 July 2025. It consisted of 41 entries, one more than the full-season entry list: 22 in Hypercar and 19 in LMGT3. In Hypercar, Frédéric Vervisch was replaced by Richard Lietz, since Vervisch was still recovering from his Le Mans crash.[3] Furthermore, the No. 99 Proton Competition Porsche did not participate due to a clash with the IMSA season.[4] This gave BMW M Team WRT to field an additional entry for the Monza round. The No. 26 BMW was driven by Tijmen van der Helm, Maxime Martin, and Marco Wittmann.[5] LMGT3 was headlined by the addition of a third BMW, allowed by the FIA and ACO after BMW's Le Mans victory. The No. 32 BMW was driven by Ben Barnicoat, Ben Keating, and Josh Pierson.[6] Furthermore, Richard Lietz will be replaced by Mathieu Jaminet.[3]
