Inkcap may refer to any of a number of toadstools of the genera Coprinus, Coprinellus and Coprinopsis.
Most commonly,
- Coprinus comatus, the shaggy inkcap, lawyer's wig, or shaggy mane
which is very good to eat.
Next most commonly, the toxic
- Coprinopsis atramentaria, the common inkcap, inky cap, or tippler's bane.
Also any of the following, many of which are toxic:
- Coprinus alopecius, the distinguished inkcap.
- Coprinus sterquilinus, the midden inkcap.
- Coprinellus disseminatus, the fairy inkcap, fairies' bonnets or trooping crumble cap.
- Coprinellus domesticus, the firerug inkcap.
- Coprinellus micaceus, the glistening inkcap, mica cap, shiny cap, or glistening inky cap.
- Coprinopsis acuminata, the humpback inkcap.
